Chapter 22: The Eight-Thousand-Year-Old Baby

My Girlfriend Is a Demon Queen

"Your Mom is in here! When did she go inside this?"

The Demon turned the phone upside down and started shaking it vigorously. When nothing happened, she started smacking it hard against her other palm, exactly like how people do when a TV remote stops working.

"She’s not coming out..."

Seeing all this, Himanshu facepalmed. ’Looks like I expected a bit too much from her.’ He was now completely sure that the Demon hadn’t learned a single thing about phones other than the AI Assistant. This human world was still completely unknown and new to her.

’It’s a good thing I didn’t go with my first thought.

Thinking this, Himanshu reached out his hand to take the phone back. But right then, the ringing stopped and the screen went black.

The Demon panicked and shoved the phone toward him, saying, "Oh no! She disappeared."

At this moment, that 8000-year-old terrifying Demon looked like a six-month-old baby who had just seen some weird magical artifact. Himanshu looked at her like he was on the verge of tears—purely out of her stupidity.

"What happened to you? Why are you making that weird face? Are the clothes too heavy for you?" the Demon asked in her usual Queen-like attitude.

"What?"

Himanshu’s innocent, ready-to-cry face vanished in a second. He cleared his throat, fixed his posture, and stood completely straight.

"That’s called an Image. It’s kind of like a painting."

While saying this, a weird sense of happiness and superiority could be clearly seen on his face. Who knows how long Himanshu had been waiting for this exact moment—such a golden opportunity to look down on the Demon!

The Demon looked down. And she perfectly understood just how big of an idiot she was looking like right now.

"Couldn’t you have told me that earlier?"

Annoyed and hissing in anger, the Demon started looking around. And that’s when she realized that the people nearby had been staring at her this whole time. Someone’s hand was frozen in the air while eating, and someone else had gone completely silent while talking on their phone.

Seeing this, the Demon immediately snapped back into her normal posture. Because all this time, while staring at the phone, she had been standing in her weird combat pose, looking exactly like some comic book character.

Standing right there, seeing the Demon in such an uncomfortable situation, Himanshu was dying of laughter inside. He was trying his absolute best to hold back a loud burst of laughter.

Right then, the phone started ringing again.

This time, the Demon quietly handed the phone over to Himanshu. It was like she finally understood that she still had a lot to learn from Himanshu about this world.

’Finally, the high and mighty Queen gets brought down a peg!’

Thinking this to himself, Himanshu answered the phone with full attitude. But the second he put the phone to his ear, his eardrums nearly burst.

"Are you deaf? I’ve been calling you for an hour! Where the hell are you roaming?" His Mom’s screaming voice leaked out of the phone.

Hearing such a loud voice, even the Demon was slightly startled and took a step back.

"Mom, I only missed one call," Himanshu said, making a face.

"Whatever. Where are you? Hurry home. Your aunt’s coming."

"Yeah, yeah. I’m almost—"

Beep... beep...

"What? Mom hung up?" Himanshu stared at the phone in confusion.

Gripping the phone tightly in anger, Himanshu yelled in his mind, ’Why do you always overreact?’

Himanshu was just thinking all this when his eyes fell on the Demon standing in front of him. Her mouth was hanging wide open and her eyes were bulging out. It was as if she had just seen something completely unexpected and impossible.

’Oh no... did she just figure out what a call is? Did she really not notice people talking on phones until now?’ Himanshu thought in shock.

Even after figuring it all out, Himanshu tried to act in front of the Demon like he didn’t understand what was wrong.

"What happened? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Taking a step forward, the Demon asked, excited like a little kid, "You’re talking to Mom?"

"Yeah... So what." Himanshu was now settling the score for all the insults he took today. Full of arrogance, he continued, "Didn’t you know? I thought you’d noticed."

Without missing a beat, the Demon saw right through Himanshu’s smirk and his arrogance. Her red eyes started glowing again.

"Do you want to get your ass kicked again?" the Demon asked in a completely cold, terrifying voice.

Instantly, Himanshu came right back to his senses. Wiping his sweat, he stammered in panic, "N-no, no! I... I was just..."

Himanshu was still trying to finish his sentence when the Demon cut him off.

"I thought people were just talking to the phone... like I do."

The Demon muttered this, trying to defend her stupidity, and then just walked ahead without even looking at Himanshu.
