“Bop!” Your skull is unusually durable, and not only that, but headbutts and skull based attacks are more potent.]
I yawned as I rose up from my bed.
Not exactly the most exciting reward to get out of a whole month’s worth of effort but hey, its not like I’d been doing all that expecting a reward for it.
And who knows, maybe I’d pull a Tanjiro and drop someone way stronger than me to their knees with an unexpected headbutt.
Jumping onto my bed, King Crimson, or Crimson for short, the name I’d settled on giving my cat, crawled towards the pillow I’d just risen from, circling it before curling up on it, eyes falling closed.
Stealing had been my initial plan for the little guy, but I still hadn’t found a worthwhile target I thought I could actually get away, not that it was really at the top of my priorities.
A moment spent scratching his head, I clapped my hands to my face, slapping away some of my grogginess, before getting a proper start to the day.
A shower, breakfast, and a goodbye to Aunt Nozomi later and I was skating my way through the early morning streets.
As I reached the turn between residential streets that acted as the middle point between our respective homes and school, Toga made the turn too, grabbing hold of the edge of my blazer and just letting me push us forward.
Said habit caused her to trip up more than once but she’d gotten used to doing it.
“Toga, Akaguro!” As the streets got busier, more and more students filling it, Toga’s group, four different girls, including the two from my class, were waiting on us.
We slowed to stop beside the group, Toga stepping off the joined them, her board handed off to me.
I lazily skated alongside them for while, occasionally dropping a comment or responding to a question but otherwise just tagging along.
I’d gotten to know them a bit, at least enough to know their names and a few other things, but it was very much a mutual friend kind of thing.
Most of the time, unless it was something Toga herself had introduced me to, I wasn’t too interested in what they were talking about.
“I’m so not ready for it.
You’re going to help me study, right, Toga?”
“You’re never ready for it.
You should really study more; even with Toga’s help, cramming isn’t going to do much for you.”
Their talk about exams did catch my attention though.
Tests might not net me tickets anymore but an exam where scores were compared between all the classes and was used as pretty important indicator of a student’s potential by the staff?
If I didn’t get a silver ticket from doing well, I at least expected a few bronze tickets with advantage.
Maybe scoring top place would get me both.
“What about you, Akaguro?
Think you’re going to do good?”
“I’m going for the top spot.” I decided, nodding to myself.
“You really think you’re going to do better than, Toga?” Umi raised her brow, skeptical.
“She’s been in top ten for all our exams since we entered junior high.”
“Really?” I said, looking to Toga.
I knew she was smart when it came to schoolwork but never got all the details on that.
“Want to make a bet, Katsu?” She said, smiling, an all too familiar mischievous edge to both it and her voice.
“Hit me.”
“If you score higher than me, I’ll treat you to one of those mega beef bowls, but-”
“Deal.” Another chance at that challenge without having to be the one to pay for those expensive bowls?
No way I was passing that up.
I was going to overcome it one of these days.
“But you don’t even know what I was going to ask for.” This story is hosted at g.com.
“It won’t matter when I win.” I said, shooting her a small smirk before picking up speed ahead of the group.
“Later.”
“Katsu!” I ignored her call, smiling to myself as I left the group behind.
I had a lot working in my favor but shooting number one in an exam like that demanded perfection.
A ticket, free food, and a decent challenge.
I was looking forward to it a bit more than before.

“I’m never letting you choose the music again.”
“I think it was a good song, ribbit.”
“I’m pretty sure what I just heard doesn’t count as a song.”
“You listen to instrumentals.”
“For working out and studying.
I don’t need anyone talking in my ear when I’m trying to focus.” Head laid back against the bench, I looked up at Tsu who stood just behind it, ready to spot me once the short rest was over.
“You just listen to anything don’t you?”
“How else should I figure out what I like?” She asked, a gloved finger poking the corner of her mouth.
“I guess that’s true.
Still not letting you choose the music though.” I said, hands raised up and grasping the cold metal bar.
“Ready?” She nodded as I lifted the hefty weight.
I still wasn’t quite as strong as Tsu, but with Toga’s blood helping me bounce back faster than I would’ve otherwise, I could work out far more frequently and at an intensity that otherwise might’ve been more detrimental than helpful.
My maxes were steadily rising when it came to all sorts of weight related exercises, all the cardio was upping my stamina, and while I don’t think I needed to maintain it, I did join Tsu for flexibility related stuff when she did them, that the only area I outclassed her in.
Unless there were things that could change it, which I wouldn’t be surprised by at this point, I was sure I was going to hit the limit of what my body was naturally capable of.
After that came dedicated training with my quirk.
Until then, I was enjoying every gain I made to the max.
Soon we were standing beside the water fountains just outside the dressing rooms, sweat wiped from our foreheads, and stuff gathered up preparing to leave after another good workout.
“You’ll have to find another partner.” Tsu suddenly said.
Or maybe it was a bad workout.
“I’m holding you back too much?” I asked, while stretching out a bit, aches already spread across my body.
“No, ribbit.
I had fun working out with you.” She said, shaking her head.
“They had a break, but my parents’ work usually keeps them busy and traveling around.
They’re going to be busy, so I’ll need to watch my siblings while they’re away.”
A shame but it what it is.
I was exclusively training without my quirk right now so its not like I needed a partner to adhere to all the mandatory rules here.
“I enjoyed it too.” I admitted.
I’d found her strange at first, but it was actually nice to be around someone who straight up spoke their mind.
Plenty of people who did that tended to be rude or condescending about it, but she was always friendly about sharing her opinion, a few of which had corrected my sloppy forms for different workouts.
“If you want to partner back up again and see me around, I’ll be ready.”
Tsu nodded, taking a few steps ahead, always quick to leave.
She stopped for once, reached into her bag and came back to me, a green cased phone in hand.
“Your number.” She said.
As soon as I put it in and she got a quick picture to use as part of the contact, she nodded again, smiling up at me.
“I’ll let you know if I ever have the time to come again.” The source of this chapter is g.com.
“See you then, Tsu.” I said, returning her wave as she took off.
A bit of an unexpected conversation at the end there but that concluded my workout for the day.
Now to start my other training.
XOXO
Cold to the touch and hitting with what felt like the force of a truck, HK’s mechanical fist slammed into my raised forearm, forcing it back and blocking my vision.
His other hand shot forward, and despite me catching sight of it and trying to think up a plan, there wasn’t anything I could do to stop the hand from grasping my shirt and picking me right off my feet, chucking me across our usual training area.
The intentionally heavy steps of his rush filled the air as my back hit bark, my teeth gritted.
Head tilted, I barely avoided his fist, said bark splintering.
Foot brought back and swung up far higher than I would’ve imagined a few short weeks ago, I slammed it into the side of his head.
No reaction.
“Commentary: Remember Master, over dedicated strikes will not serve you against a superior enemy.” HK chastised, a touch of condescension in his amused words as he grasped my clothes once more, dragging me up along the tree.
“All that sloshing flesh is too weak.”
Once again weightless took me.
I struggled to reoriented myself as the ground sped by, water soon taking its place.
I only had enough time to take a shallow breath.
Cold water splashed around me as I hit the small pond, submerging for a moment before quickly shooting out.
“The water?
Really?” I questioned, trudging my way out of it.
“Explanation: A simple miscalculation, Master, I assure you.”
Yeah right; the same droid that could swing hard enough to break bones, some of the splintered trees around us testament to that, yet never actually hit me hard enough to do just that, was making miscalculations.
Repeated caws came from above as I stepped back onto the grass, Enflame swapped out for Dry.
“Keep it up and I’ll dunk you in there too.” I warned, looking at Scarlet who was perched on a branch.
She was so busy doing the crow equivalent to a laugh, she didn’t notice the typically lazy Crimson creeping up on her from a higher branch.
Karma at work.
Holding off on any warning, I finished drying myself and all my clothes before heading towards my bag.
I pulled out a small lunch box from it, a small sealed steel cup and ice pack all that were within it.
Was it illegal to carry around someone else’s blood?
Filing that question away for some other time, I removed the cap and downed the cup.
I preferred fresh blood, something me and Toga agreed was just better in every way, but her blood did its job, my body’s healing quickening.
I’d held off on fighting HK at first because of the threat of injuries I really couldn’t explain but with Toga’s blood now in play, I was steadily gaining experience of what a fight was like, things like my Flexibility and Fast Reflexes truly shining.
Would this prepare me for a real fight against another super powered person trying to off me?
Maybe not but any experience was better than none.
XOXO
(A/N: A mini timeskip just to show his day to day.
With Katsu mostly used to the Gacha and his relationship with Toga stable, were well on our way to the bigger time skips.
A bit more stuff between those two and a handful of pulls then its all the way to U.A!
Writing for a gacha is surprisingly doable despite the random factor.
So far anyways.
Lets hope we all keep enjoying what its bringing us.
Oh and before I forget:
