To be fair, that was a problem he had created years ago.

For more than a decade, he had been called useless almost every day.

Of course that had left him frustrated.

Humans needed an outlet when their mood turned bad.

And what was better for clearing the mind than playing arcade games?

There was an answer.

Fighting.

One day, after a group of delinquents near the arcade picked a fight with him, Ren gave them a lesson in return.

After tasting how satisfying that was, he could not quite stop.

He began voluntarily cleaning up the delinquents around the arcade.

For a long time afterward, troublemakers vanished from the area.

The arcade’s business boomed, and the owner treated Ren like a VIP.

His games were free.

That lasted until…

Dagobah Municipal Beach Park.

“S-Senior?” Izuku Midoriya looked at him, confused.

After holding back for a moment, he finally asked, “Until what?”

Ren, who had been wearing the expression of a man burdened by life’s cruelty, shot him a glare.

“Until someone who knew me tattled to my mom.”

Honestly.

Ren had left that pause there on purpose, and Midoriya still could not read the room.

Was fate sure this was the hero it wanted to back?

“Hahaha!

Young man, that is wonderful.” All Might laughed after hearing the story.

Then again, when did All Might not laugh?

“So that is why your family has a curfew?”

How had the three of them ended up together?

For that, the clock had to turn back to the evening after Ren’s meeting with All Might at the beach park.

As the holder of Insight, school studying had become almost pointless for Ren.

He only needed to glance through a textbook, maybe look at the teacher now and then, and theory classes became easy.

Too easy.

Mika’s anger had not faded.

If Ren skipped school now, he would die even more tragically.

So after finally surviving until the end of the school day, Ren received a call from All Might and was summoned to Dagobah Municipal Beach Park.

With him came the crybaby himself, his desk neighbor, Izuku Midoriya.

“All Might, why is Re…

why is Ren here too?”

The instant Midoriya saw All Might, the question burst out of him.

He had been holding it in the entire way.

“Hmm…

well…

that is…

hahaha…”

All Might looked painfully awkward.

He tried to cover it with laughter, then turned his head and frantically signaled Ren, who was leaning against a wall.

“Fine,” Ren said, giving him a look.

“You asked me to handle this.”

All Might nodded like a man clinging to a rope.

Ren coughed twice.

Once Midoriya looked over, Ren gave him a warm, senior-like smile.

“The truth is…

I am the senior trainee you never knew you had.”

“What?” All Might’s eyes went wide.

He stared at Ren, then seemed to turn to stone.

This was not what he had imagined at all.

“Senior trainee?” Midoriya turned suspiciously toward his idol.

Since the Sludge Villain incident, Ren had become much easier to get along with, but Midoriya still instinctively felt something was wrong.

He wanted the answer from his idol and teacher.

“Hmm…” All Might pondered for a moment, then said dryly, “Young Mikage is correct.

He is…

yes, your senior trainee.

You may call him your senior.”

At that moment, All Might quietly ignored the question of who had come first.

If Ren was the senior, then it made sense for him to already know what Midoriya knew.

“But…” Midoriya still felt something was wrong.

The childhood acquaintance who had grown up Quirkless just like him had suddenly become his senior trainee under All Might.

The world had gone mad.

“Ahem.

Young Mikage knew me before you did, so calling him your senior is not unreasonable.” All Might’s V-shaped tufts twitched as he came up with his own explanation.

Ren pressed a hand to his forehead.

That terrible move almost ruined everything.

Midoriya had nearly believed them before All Might added that.

Fine.

Ren would clean it up himself.

“The reason I never revealed my Quirk before,” Ren said calmly, facing Midoriya’s doubtful gaze and All Might’s alarmed stare, “is that my Quirk had to be sealed.”

Midoriya froze.

“I know you find that hard to believe,” Ren continued, “but it was sealed because it was too powerful.

The cost of using it was so high that I could not bear it.

Our teacher can testify to that.”

“Correct,” All Might said immediately, his voice solemn.

“Young Mikage’s Quirk grants him power that even frightened me.

But the drawback is even greater.

Each time he uses that force, he pays with a corresponding amount of life force.”

“I understand.”

Under the relentless effort of one large future award-winning actor and one smaller one, Izuku Midoriya was finally fooled.

He stepped in front of them, bowed deeply, and said with complete seriousness, “I am so sorry for doubting you.”

Ren lifted his brows at All Might with obvious pride.

The most convincing lies were always wrapped in the truth.

At that moment, Ren shone with a brilliance all his own.

Among everyone who had ever been thrown into another world, he might be the only one to talk the story’s chosen hero into becoming his junior trainee.
