In front of one of U.A.’s practical exam sites, Katsuki Bakugo looked left and right with an irritated scowl.
He did not see his target in the crowd.
“Tch.
Not in the same test site as me, huh?
Damn thief.”
After losing to Ren and being tossed around in humiliating fashion, Bakugo had spent ten months training bitterly.
He had planned to crush Ren during the Entrance Exam.
Then the rules were announced, and Bakugo was stunned.
Attacking other examinees was forbidden.
Even worse, Ren was nowhere among the examinees.
Had that bastard not applied to U.A.
too?
Where was he?
Ren, of course, was searching for Recovery Girl.
Bakugo’s wish to get revenge would have to wait.
“How did those stories handle this again?” Ren muttered while walking.
“If the chosen hero dies by accident, does the timeline collapse?
Does the world end?
Or does another chosen hero appear?”
“Agh.
I cannot figure this out.
My head hurts.”
His frustrated groan made passersby glance at him.
Who was this guy?
Why had no one seen him before?
Was something wrong with him?
Lost in thought, Ren relied on his memories from another world and soon found the door to Recovery Girl’s nurse’s office.
Now, when he opened the door, should he call her miss or young lady?
Ren’s mouth curved.
Obviously young lady.
That title explained everything.
If he called her young lady, his first impression score would go through the roof.
With that in mind, Ren opened the door and stepped in.
Before he even looked around, he called out brightly, “Hello, young lady!”
Silence.
More silence.
The nurse’s office was empty.
Ren had confidently missed his target.
Of course.
During something as important as the Entrance Exam, how could Nezu fail to prepare for emergencies?
Recovery Girl must have been called to the exam area long ago.
Ren had only overlooked that because he was too busy worrying that Midoriya might die and drag Ren’s future down with him.
Some time later, Ren returned to the monitoring room with a dark expression.
Ignoring All Might, who was laughing far too hard, Ren walked to the friendly old woman with her hair tied in a bun.
His smile turned dazzling.
“Hello, young lady.
I’m Ren Mikage.
Please take care of me from now on.”
Recovery Girl blinked at the unusually enthusiastic boy in the black coat.
Then she noticed his pale pupils, understood who he was, and smiled warmly.
“Oh my.
So you are the successor that certain irresponsible fellow mentioned.
Not bad, young man.
You look lively enough.
If you get hurt after school starts, come find me.
I will patch you right back up.”
“Thank you, young lady.”
Ren sat obediently beside her, looking like the picture of a well-behaved child.
As for the irresponsible fellow Recovery Girl mentioned, he was currently staring at Ren in stunned disbelief.
Was this really the boy All Might had chosen to inherit his heroic will?
For a moment, All Might felt a pain in his chest.
Recovery Girl was old enough to be Ren’s grandmother, and he had actually called her young lady without hesitation.
Ren Mikage, did your conscience feel no pain?
Whether Ren’s conscience hurt or not, his goal had been achieved.
Building a relationship with Recovery Girl ahead of time was crucial.
The Entrance Exam ended soon after.
Events unfolded almost exactly as Ren remembered.
Midoriya lived up to expectations by earning zero villain points.
To save Ochaco Uraraka, he forced One For All into action, destroyed the enormous zero-pointer, and left himself badly injured with no way to keep scoring.
When Recovery Girl hurried away, Ren watched and formed a guess.
He stood as well, preparing to leave.
“Hey, young man,” All Might called after him.
“Where are you going?
To mock poor Young Midoriya again?”
During the ten months they had trained together, All Might had discovered another side of Ren: a sharp tongue so precise that the target often had no good way to argue back.
Midoriya might have thought Ren’s verbal jabs were a greater trial than the training itself.
“No.
I will skip it.” Ren waved weakly without turning around.
“I already know the result.
Besides, Recovery Girl is there.
As long as he does not die, it is fine.”
With that lack of interest, he left.
Midoriya had earned zero villain points, but Ren did not believe for a second that the crybaby would fail to enter U.A.
In fact, Ren now felt that his frantic trip to find Recovery Girl had been foolish.
The result was still good, though.
At least he had earned a strong first impression with a U.A.
teacher.
Still, he had overestimated the power of his butterfly wings.
The result was the same as in his memories.
His influence was not enough yet.
He needed to become stronger.
