“Ren…
Mikage!”
Ren’s provocation set off the anger Bakugo had been forcing down.
Losing to Ren was bad enough.
Now even Izuku Midoriya, the person he had always looked down on, had caught up to his throw.
The sharp smell of smoke spread through the air.
Light flashed at Bakugo’s palms.
Then he broke from the line.
“Burst Speed!”
Explosions blasted backward from both hands, driving him forward like an arrow leaving the string.
He charged straight at Ren, who was not even looking at him anymore.
Ren’s gaze had shifted toward Aizawa instead.
‘Aizawa, now.’
Ren had wanted Aizawa’s Quirk for a long time.
That kind of ability was almost unfair.
It did not overpower other Quirks.
It simply said no.
Before most of the class could react, a white strip cut across the space between them.
Aizawa’s capture weapon wrapped Bakugo tight, binding him in an instant.
No matter how hard he struggled, he could not escape something that looked far too fragile to hold him.
“Students who cannot behave create problems for me,” Aizawa said, displeasure clear in his voice.
“Stand there and be quiet.”
Bakugo snarled and grabbed at the binding cloth.
Small explosions sparked against it as he tried to burn it away.
Nothing happened.
Aizawa’s capture weapon was made from specialized material.
Bakugo was nowhere near strong enough to destroy it.
Ren, using One For All at full force, might be another story, but Bakugo did not have that kind of output yet.
‘Opportunity.’
Insight activated.
Ren watched Aizawa with total focus.
There it was.
There it was.
Erasure.
Aizawa noticed the look a heartbeat later and glanced toward Ren’s eyes.
A faint smile touched his face.
Principal Nezu had already explained the basics of Ren’s Quirk, so Aizawa understood at once.
No wonder this kid had been needling Bakugo from the start.
As Class 1-A’s homeroom teacher, Aizawa had to stop a student who suddenly attacked another student.
Ren had simply been waiting for that moment.
He wanted Aizawa’s Quirk.
Terrifying little planner.
The thought pulled Aizawa back to his earlier conversation with Nezu.
“Shota Aizawa, there is a troublesome little student in your class.
I would like you to keep an eye on him.”
“Who?
Shoto Todoroki?”
The request had surprised Aizawa.
Nezu rarely involved himself directly in classroom matters, so the first name that came to mind was Endeavor’s son.
“Not Todoroki,” Nezu had said, lifting his teacup.
After one pleased sip, he smiled.
“A different special admission student.
Ren Mikage.
He has a frightening Quirk.
Just pay attention.”
Ren let out a quiet breath when Aizawa looked his way.
‘Fast enough.’
Aizawa had noticed his goal almost immediately.
Fortunately, Insight learned quickly.
The process had finished before Erasure could cut it off.
Nothing visible had changed, but Ren knew the truth.
He had obtained Erasure.
With a blink and a line of sight, he could cancel the Quirk of the person he focused on.
The ability was absurdly strong.
Aizawa’s limits came from his body, his dry eye, and the fact that he had to fight around those restrictions.
“Aaaaaagh!
Die, Ren!”
The instant the cloth released him, Bakugo’s palms exploded again.
He launched himself into the air, roaring hard enough to shake the field.
Ren glanced at Aizawa.
The man had folded his arms and made no move to interfere.
Apparently, the exhausted middle-aged teacher could be petty too.
Ren sighed.
Then he looked up at Bakugo, who was accelerating toward him again, and his face filled with something close to pity.
“Poor kid.
Why can you never read the room?”
Erasure activated.
A red glint passed through Ren’s pale eyes.
In midair, Bakugo’s heart dropped.
A terrible feeling hit him all at once.
That damn thief.
He understood.
Ren had used him from the beginning.
The target had never been Bakugo.
The target had been that sleep-deprived teacher’s Quirk.
The higher someone flew, the harder they fell.
Bakugo understood that lesson very clearly a second later.
Bang.
His body slammed into the training field hard enough to throw dust into the air.
When the smoke cleared, he lay spread-eagled in a crater almost ten meters across and refused to get up.
The pain in his body was nothing.
Being crushed by Ren in every possible way hurt far more.
His pride had taken the real hit.
