After waking from our nap, Kiki stays snuggled up against me for a while. I run my nails up and down his back gently while asking,
“Can you tell me anything about the country that dungeon is in?”
He stretches like a cat while letting out groans. He starts speaking before he collapses back down onto me with a sigh,
“Nnnnnnnnyeah… It’s the kingdom of Perenea. It’s a bigger kingdom situated in the north of the continent. Technically, the current king outlawed slavery… but pretty much every noble doesn’t care.”
I nod my head. Yep. I’m gonna have to raid some nobles it seems. Then, I ask him the question every person obsessed with isekai would ask,
“So, who are the people that normally explore dungeons?”
He looks up at me with a raised eyebrow, and tilts his head in confusion.
“You mean adventurers? Do you have a different name for them here?”
I chuckle and pet his head before saying,
“Remember how I told you people don’t use magic here? We also don’t have dungeons.”
His lips form an o shape as I tell him this, revealing two cute little fangs where his canines would be. I take the chance he’s so graciously given me and lean in, kissing him. His ears stand up, but he quickly giggles in the kiss and wraps his arms around my neck, pulling us closer together.
After some more cuddling and kissing, I cook us some food before reading the “Basics of Necromancy” book I picked up. Honestly, this is the one that makes the least sense scientifically. It uses the residual mana present inside dead bodies to reanimate them. Despite it not really making that much sense, I still get the feeling that I could do it. Not to mention, there are a bunch of necromantic attack spells! You’ve got bone shards, corpse bomb, rot aura… Yeah, probably won’t use that last one too often. Sounds gross.
After reading the entire book, I decide to head back into the dungeon and finish clearing it. With my new necromancy spells, the rest of it should go by easily.
Once I’m met with the rough walls of the dungeon, I immediately notice how dark it is. I cast a ball of light at the end of my stave and walk through the winding tunnels.
Because these tunnels aren’t straight like the past two, I could get lost easily. Luckily, that isn’t an issue thanks to the portal. I could just travel back to earth, then move the portal back to the study.
As I’m walking, I hear a loud howling coming from deeper in. Before, this would have absolutely made me shit myself. Now, it just gives me a target!
I float up and start flying over at a much higher speed than I could run, eventually coming into a small clearing. A giant open cave, filled with a bunch of… zombies? Like shambling style zombies, not the fast running nightmare fuel ones.
When they see me, they reach up trying to grab me. None of them use any skills, none of them can jump… I guess this would actually be a pretty difficult room to clear for anyone who can’t fly… For me, though? This is just a payday!
I raise up my hands and conjure a whole bunch of waterballs. They splash against the horde reaching for me, soaking all of them completely. I then snap my fingers and send an ice spear down into the middle of the horde.
*SHIK!*
The ice spreads quickly, overtaking the horde and freezing them all solid. I then set off an explosion, breaking them all apart, and causing red crystals to appear at each of their feet.
I’d rather not step on that disgusting ground, so I use gravity magic to pick up all the jewels after passing them through a ball of boiling water. In total, I got 54 more red crystals.
‘No other special loot, though, sadly. Clearing these things isn’t really worth it. If I come across another horde, I’m just gonna fly over it.’
And fly over them I did. I flew over at least five more hordes before running into any other creatures. Even then, it was just another one of those slimes. It was no issue at all this time, as I could just use corpse explosion on it and it killed it in one hit.
I eventually come across a giant, black door. With zero fanfare, I open up the door and send a ball of light inside to light it up…
And there’s no boss monster…
There’s just a chest in the center of the room…
Yup, this shit’s a trap.
I cast some gravity magic and fiddle with the lock on the chest… No reaction… I freeze the lock before breaking it off… No reaction… I open the chest… No reaction…
“Okay, what the fuck is going on here…”
I slowly walk inside, keeping my mind primed to cast a host of different spells. I look all around. The floor looks clear… The walls are fine… The ceiling…
I just saw the faintest shimmer of light coming from the ceiling…
Immediately, I cast the bone shard spell, causing thousands of small shards of bone to manifest. I send them off, watching as they kick up dust and break apart stone, causing it to crash to the ground.
As I’m casting, I feel a presence near me and instinctively blast air beneath my feet, causing me to fly up rapidly. Below me, right where I was, is a skeleton, clad in black and wielding two daggers.
“Oh shit, it’s an edgelord.”
I keep myself flying and send a slash of holy aura at it, which is dodged with ease. I have to dodge again as it comes flying towards me with a jump. This time, I meet it with a gravity spell that makes it weigh ten times more than normal. It shoots down into the ground and struggles to stand, but manages to.
“Damn. Gravity magic op.”
As I ready to cut off its head, it reaches into a pocket on its jacket and pulls out some rolled up scroll. It tears it and causes the gravity around it to return to normal.
“Well, shit.”
I send the aura at it anyway, but when it gets about halfway there, the spell dissipates.
“I see. That’s some kinda anti-magic scroll… Those books didn’t say anything about those…”
I dodge to the left much more casually this time as it slashes at me. Though, I clearly wasn’t the target. It flies right by the ball of light illuminating the room, sending it back into darkness.
“Well shit.”
I cast another ball of light, sending it to the opposite side of the room, but it’s also quickly put out. So, I decide to go a little crazy with it and cast a shit ton, illuminating the room from all sides. I catch another shimmer of light, and this time give it no time to escape.
“Fuck it! BLACK HOLE!”
I clap my hands in front of me, the snapping sound echoing out louder than it naturally should have. The air around me feels wrong, and starts to rush to one area. Of course, I create a bubble of fresh air around me that’s not affected by this spell.
*woosh… Woooshhh… WOOOOOOSHHHHH!*
The lights all across the room get sucked in as they start to orbit a black hole the size of a penny. Space distorts around it as it grows in size. I spot the skeleton scrambling back, driving its daggers deep into the stone floor eventually, its feet get lifted off the ground. Then, it loses grip on one of its blades. It grasps the other and holds with all of its might…
*SLASH!*
Only for holy aura to cut straight through its arms, sensing it flying back into the black hole, becoming bone spaghetti.
With a snap of my fingers, the black hole disappears, and a small orb of compressed material is left behind…
“Alrighty! Loot time!”
I used gravity magic to secure the chest, but really didn’t need to. Loot falls to the ground after popping into existence below the ball of compressed material. I got a dark brown cape, and a silver circlet. I also got a purple crystal from it. New color just dropped!
I also managed to get both of the daggers it used, so that’s yet another random weapon for the bag!
I scan each of the items before wearing them or bagging them,
[The Ebony Veil: Once worn by the great Ebon Drae, it is a cape that allows the wearer to temporarily turn nearly invisible when in shadows. It enhances the user’s agility greatly. (Effects: Minor invisibility in shadow, x3 Agility stat)]
[The Ebony Circlet: Once worn by the great Ebon Drae, it is a circlet that grants the user a vastly faster reaction time. (Effects: Quickened reactions)]
[The Ebony Twins: Twin daggers used by the great Ebon Drae. These daggers have tasted more noble blood than any weapon ever created. They deal extreme poison damage. (Effects: Lethal neurotoxin)]
[Ebon Drae set: 3 / 8]
Huh. I’ll have to ask Kiki if he’s heard about Ebon Drae. Sounds like they were an assassin used to kill nobles, huh? Damn, 3 out of 8. I kinda wanna finish off this set so I have different outfits for different occasions. Now that I know Ebon’s catch, I can take them out pretty easily.
“I wonder how long it takes them to respawn?”
Well, that’s a matter for another time. I’m kinda getting sick of this dungeon. I wanna go out and see the rest of this world. I’ll have to get Kiki after I leave the dungeon so he can help me find the city. It’d be nice to have a date in this world!
“Ah, right! The chest!”
I run over to it and look inside, finding a book, a leather sack, and… Lingerie?
…
Yep, I’m taking that. It’s a really cute set too. Pink lace bralette, sheer pink panties, and a pink lace choker with a heart shaped bell on it… Fuck Kiki would look adorable in this…
After putting those in my bag, I check out the book.
“Basics of Illusion Magic”
Illusion magic, huh? More games make illusion magic out to be pretty weak and useless. But honestly, I think it could be one of the more powerful types of magic. Sure, it may not have spells that directly attack people, but you could have them trapped in their own mind for so long that they starve!
You can make people ignore their existence until they… Y’know… Do it themselves!
I wonder…
I start flipping through the book, skimming the spells and skipping over the random shit the scholar added, eventually coming across the perfect spell!
It tells you how to make yourself disappear technically. You make others simply look past you. Their brains can’t focus on you, so they treat you like you don’t exist, but they still instinctively avoid walking into you!
I can localize this spell to Kiki’s ears and tail! I can take him out on a date on earth!
