Chapter 4 – Midnight Panic

My Married Roommate Asked Me to Give Her a Baby

That night, Evan did not sleep at all.

The same image kept flashing through his mind.

Was there any kind of privacy layer down there or not?

The next morning, he got up early to look for part-time work.

The main reason was simple: with a woman like Hannah in the apartment, Evan could not sit still. He did not even know where to put his eyes.

But after looking around for half the day, he found that most places wanted long-term workers. There were no decent part-time jobs.

He returned home, dejected.

At the entryway, Evan saw two pairs of shoes.

One pair belonged to Rowan.

The other belonged to Hannah.

It looked like the two of them had finished their hospital business and returned.

Evan knew they were in a bad mood, so he did not disturb them.

He took a cold shower and went back to his room to sleep.

This sleep carried him straight into the middle of the night.

Evan opened his eyes in a daze.

Then he suddenly saw someone sitting stiffly beside his bed.

Evan jumped so hard he nearly flew up.

He rubbed his eyes hard and finally realized it was Rowan.

"Damn, Rowan, what are you doing? Sitting here in the middle of the night trying to scare me to death?"

Rowan said nothing.

He only smoked with a gloomy expression.

Not until he had finished the entire cigarette did he turn and stare hard at Evan.

"Evan. Tell me honestly."

The moment Rowan said that, Evan's heart dropped.

Damn.

Did Rowan find out he had accidentally seen Hannah during the day?

But Rowan's next words nearly made Evan jump out of bed.

"Tell me honestly. Is Hannah... beautiful?"

Evan nodded without thinking. "Beautiful. Definitely beautiful."

Rowan stared at him again.

"If I didn't interfere... what would you want to do with Hannah?"

Evan cursed in his heart.

What kind of question was that?

What would any healthy man want to do with a woman like Hannah?

Take her to admire curtains?

If he answered honestly, the room would probably catch fire.

But Evan had no idea what Rowan was trying to do, so he could only play dumb.

"Huh? Rowan, what do you mean?"

Rowan could not tell whether Evan was truly stupid or only pretending to be.

He gritted his teeth and simply spoke directly.

"Evan, help me with something."

"Make Hannah pregnant."

When Evan heard those words, his brain buzzed.

He was completely stunned.

This was the second time today he felt his brain had stopped turning.

Damn.

Were city people always this wild?

Only after a long moment did he stammer.

"Rowan... do you want to hear what you just said?"

"Hannah is..."

But Rowan looked at him with terrifying seriousness.

"I'm not joking. I'm serious."

"If Hannah can't get pregnant, both her fate and mine will be changed."

Evan froze. "What? Why?"

Rowan sighed. "The reasons are too complicated. I can't explain all of it at once."

Evan asked again, "Then why can't you make her pregnant yourself?"

Rowan gave a bitter smile and explained frankly.

"Because I'm infertile. Even IVF is almost impossible."

"Hannah also strongly rejects using an anonymous donor."

Rowan looked at Evan with red eyes.

"After thinking it over and over, I could only think of you."

"I want to borrow your..."

Evan never expected something from a trashy adult website to one day happen in real life.

This was so ridiculous it had left reality and started renting its own apartment.

Evan stammered, "Then... does Hannah agree?"

To be honest, if Hannah agreed, Evan did not feel there was much to say.

If it was mutual, then it was mutual.

Besides, he and Hannah had no blood relation.

According to Jack, Hannah and their family were only connected through some far, thin family-friend relationship.

The real reason they were close was that one year, when Jack was at a market, he happened to see Hannah after a car accident.

Without saying a word, Jack rode his motorcycle and took her to the hospital.

Fortunately, she had been treated in time and survived.

Because of that life-saving favor, Hannah had always been grateful to Jack.

That was why she had agreed to let Evan stay in her home.

But Rowan's next sentence shattered Evan's worldview all over again.

"She doesn't know."

"And she would never agree."
