Sitting at the dining table, alone, Alia stared blankly at the empty seats across from her. Chloe had texted earlier that she would not be coming home for dinner as she was with her boyfriend, something that happened more often these days.
What made Alia feel a little down was the fact that Sam wasn't coming home either. Chloe had informed her that Sam had gone on a date and would likely not be back until late.
Although Alia was pleased that Sam had found someone to spend time with, she couldn't help but feel both relieved and sad at the same time. On one hand, she was glad he wasn't dwelling on her or anything that had happened last night, but on the other hand, she couldn't shake off the sense of betrayal and jealousy that crept into her heart.
'No, I should be happy for him. Sam deserves someone who can love him properly... someone who isn't me...' Alia sighed and tried to push away the negative feelings.
She picked up her phone and looked at Sam's picture in her gallery. He was smiling widely in it, and she couldn't help but smile too. He was truly a kind young man with a gentle heart. Anyone would be lucky to have him as a lover.
'But that someone is not me...' Alia thought with a hint of bitterness.
For a whole day, Alia had been trying to forget what happened between her and Sam last night, but it was impossible. The memory of his passionate kiss, his loving touch, his hot cock inside her... it was all engraved in her mind, haunting her relentlessly. She even found herself getting wet just thinking about it, which only added to her guilt.
She felt ashamed of her body's reaction and how she wanted more of Sam, but she couldn't bring herself to accept the reality of their situation. They were mother and son now, and that couldn't be changed, no matter how much they desired each other.
Moreover, if Chloe were to find out... Alia shuddered at the thought of her daughter's reaction. She could already imagine how hurt and disappointed Chloe would be, knowing that her mother slept with her stepbrother. That would be a disaster, and Alia didn't want to break her family like that.
So she decided to pretend that nothing happened and hoped that Sam would do the same.
'I should move on too. It's for the best... and maybe find someone else who can take care of me and make me happy... not Sam.'
Alia nodded to herself, convincing herself it was the right decision. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she had to try. Otherwise, she would just end up suffering from her own forbidden feelings for Sam.
Just then, the door of the apartment opened and Sam walked in, wearing a happy smile on his face. He looked so cheerful and carefree, a complete contrast to his usual self. And Alia couldn't help but feel her heart flutter at the sight of him.
"Welcome home, Sam... How was your date?" Alia greeted with a forced smile. Her hands clenched tightly on her lap as she waited for his answer.
Sam blinked, looking surprised to see Alia still awake and sitting there. She was wearing a simple yet elegant nightgown, and her hair was tied in a messy bun, with a few strands falling over her face. And she looked absolutely beautiful in that dim light.
The deep cleavage of her gown was hard to ignore, and when combined with her exposed smooth thighs, she looked so tempting that any man would want to pounce on her.
The smile on Sam's face faltered slightly, as if remembering something, and Alia wondered if he had the same dirty thoughts as she did.
Without taking his eyes off her, Sam sat down across from Alia and answered, "It was good, I guess... The girl I met was really nice, and we had a great time together."
Alia tried to smile again, ignoring the pang of jealousy and possessiveness that shot through her. She had no right to feel this way, but it was hard to control.
"That's great to hear. I'm happy for you, Sam. So, do you think you two will be dating from now on?"
Sam scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He wasn't sure if they were officially dating yet. After all, they only met today. But it felt like there was a strong attraction between them, and the kiss they shared was not something a normal friend would do.
"Well, we haven't talked about it yet, but we do like each other's company... and yeah... when we were saying goodbye, we kissed..." Sam trailed off, not daring to look at Alia's expression. He didn't know how she would react to his words. He wanted her to know what was happening in his life, but at the same time, he didn't know if it was wise to mention his intimate moment with another woman.
For a moment, there was silence, and Sam looked up to see Alia looking down at her hands, her fingers fidgeting.
"I see..." Alia finally spoke in a soft voice, almost whispering. "That's good... It means you two have good chemistry. I hope everything works out."
The tone of Alia's voice sounded strange, but Sam couldn't quite figure out what it meant. Was she happy? Sad? Or maybe something else? But before he could ask, Alia stood up and headed towards her room.
"Okay then, I'll go to sleep now. It's already late." Alia walked with slow, heavy steps, her shoulders slightly hunched, as if carrying an invisible burden.
"Wait... Mom, are you feeling okay?" Sam asked in concern, standing up from his seat. "Do you have a headache or something?"
Without turning around, Alia stopped in her tracks. "I'm fine, Sam. I'm just a bit tired. Don't worry about me. Go ahead and sleep too. Goodnight."
