A person doesn’t have to be a Knight to possess strength comparable to one. Fighters like Kael, who isn’t a Knight, can still be evaluated based on their combat abilities and compared to the appropriate Knight rank.
For example, even though Kael isn’t a Knight, his strength can be classified as equivalent to a certain Knight rank based on his abilities, combat experience, and achievements.

Dark Mages are humans who obtain magical powers through sacrificial rituals and contracts with the Demon race.
Demons are naturally born with magical Circles. They are bloodthirsty creatures whose power grows stronger as they become more wicked and spread greater suffering and commit more murders.
Through contracts, sacrificial rituals, and other methods, humans can transform themselves into Demons or acquire powers resembling those of Demons. This process allows them to increase their strength dramatically, but it may also demand significant sacrifices.
