As the car reached the village entrance, the first thing Chu Feng saw was his mother chatting with some other women.
Clearly, she was waiting for him to come home.
The car stopped at the village entrance. Chu Hao was the first to get out, and he happily rushed over to his mother. "Mom, come look! Big Bro brought a sister-in-law back for me! He brought you a daughter-in-law!"
"Hao, really?" Mother Chu was incredibly excited.
As he spoke, Chu Hao opened the car door for Su Miaoke.
When Su Miaoke stepped out of the car, all the women nearby turned to look, their eyes filled with curiosity.
Su Miaoke’s appearance stunned everyone.
This woman was gorgeous.
"Mom, my name is Su Miaoke. You can just call me Miaoke." As the CEO of a billion-dollar company, Su Miaoke possessed a level of composure far beyond that of an ordinary person.
Therefore, even when facing Chu Feng’s mother and being stared at by a crowd, she remained perfectly calm.
But calling her "Mom" made her a little shy, and a blush spread all the way to her ears.
"Oh, yes, my good girl." Mother Chu liked Su Miaoke the moment she saw her. She came forward and grasped Su Miaoke’s hands, overcome with excitement.
Not only was Su Miaoke stunningly beautiful, but she also had a very pleasing and approachable aura that made it easy for people to like her.
After Chu Feng parked the car and got out, he said to his mother, "Mom, what are you doing out here in the cold?"
"It’s fine, I’m not cold. Didn’t you say you were coming back? I wanted to wait for you all out here. I couldn’t sit still at home," Mother Chu said happily.
Just then, the group of women from the village entrance crowded around, chattering with questions.
"Chu Feng, is this your girlfriend? She’s way too pretty! She’s even more beautiful than a movie star."
"Yeah, yeah! She’s worlds better than Chu Hai’s girlfriend. That one’s no good, all dressed up so gaudily. You can tell at a glance she’s not a decent person."
"Mom, I brought you some gifts. Let me go get them for you," Su Miaoke said, leading Mother Chu to the car and opening the trunk.
The entire trunk was packed full of things.
"I bought you some clothes, and some health supplements..." Su Miaoke explained, pointing out each item to Mother Chu.
Seeing the trunk overflowing with gifts, Mother Chu was so excited she was at a loss for words.
At the same time, Su Miaoke also took out some exquisite small gifts and gave them to the women from the village.
This made the women grin from ear to ear; every one of them was absolutely delighted.
They hadn’t expected Su Miaoke to have prepared gifts for them on her very first visit. Though they weren’t terribly expensive, the thought behind them made everyone very happy.
"Come, Miaoke, let’s go home and eat." Mother Chu happily pulled Su Miaoke along in the direction of their house.
Chu Feng and Chu Hao’s hands were full of bags—all gifts that Su Miaoke had bought for Chu Feng’s parents and Chu Hao.
After they left, the women at the village entrance started chattering amongst themselves again.
"Chu Feng’s girlfriend is a keeper! So much better than Chu Hai’s."
"That’s right, she’s a great girl. Too bad my useless son still hasn’t found a girlfriend. I’m going to tell him to find one just like her."
"I’m going to tell my useless son to find a girlfriend like that too. If he can’t, he doesn’t have to come home."
"Mom, where’s Dad? How is he?" Chu Feng asked on the way.
The village was small and the roads were narrow, so they had to park the car at the entrance and walk the rest of the way.
"Your dad’s waiting for you at home. He heard you were bringing a wife home and has been happy all day," Mother Chu said with a smile.
「Not long after, Chu Feng arrived back at his home.」
It was a modest, two-and-a-half-story house, and Chu Feng’s father was waiting at the door.
When he saw Chu Feng and the others had returned, Chu Feng’s father came over, limping with the help of a crutch.
Chu Feng’s father had once worked away from home and even ran a small business, but one year he suddenly returned with a broken leg.
But as for the reason why, Chu Feng’s father had never mentioned it to anyone.
"Dad!" Chu Hao hurried over to support his father.
"What took you so long to get back?" Chu Feng’s father shot a glare at Chu Hao.
"I couldn’t catch a ride, but luckily Big Bro was coming home today and picked me up from school," Chu Hao said.
"Old man, what are you standing here talking about? Our daughter-in-law is here, hurry up and welcome her," Mother Chu said, glaring at Chu Feng’s father.
The moment Chu Feng’s father saw Su Miaoke, he froze, then his face broke into a wide, happy grin.
"Hao, quick, go get the tea tray from the table in the main room."
Chu Hao quickly ran back into the house and returned a moment later with a tea tray that his father had prepared in advance.
Chu Feng’s father picked up the teapot, slowly poured a cup of tea, and handed it to Su Miaoke.
This was a local custom: when a prospective daughter-in-law visits for the first time, she must be served a cup of hot tea.
Although Su Miaoke was a bit confused, she still accepted the cup and took a sip.
Next, Chu Feng’s father handed Su Miaoke a red envelope. This confused her even more, and she could only look to Chu Feng for help.
’What’s going on? Should I take it or not?’ She had no idea what to do and had to ask for Chu Feng’s opinion.
This showed how much she valued Chu Feng’s opinion.
"Go ahead and take it," Chu Feng said. "It’s a gift from an elder. It means they approve of you."
Hearing this, Su Miaoke immediately broke into a happy smile and said to Chu Feng’s father, "Thank you, Dad!"
That one word, "Dad," made Chu Feng’s father smile so widely it seemed to smooth out decades of wrinkles from his forehead.
"Good, good, good! Quick, let’s talk inside. It’s cold out here." Chu Feng’s father was as happy as a child who’d just been given candy.
"Dad, let me help you." Su Miaoke helped support Chu Feng’s father as they walked into the main room.
"You all sit and rest for a bit. Your mom and I will go make dinner," Chu Feng’s father said, limping toward the kitchen with his crutch.
"What happened to your dad’s... No, *our* dad!" Su Miaoke said, looking at Chu Feng’s father’s leg with curiosity.
"He used to do business away from home. One year, something happened—we don’t know what—and his business was gone, and his leg was injured," Chu Feng said, his expression darkening.
"Where did our dad used to do business?" Su Miaoke asked, her delicate brows furrowing.
"In Beihai City," Chu Feng replied.
"Beihai City? What’s our dad’s name?" Su Miaoke asked, looking thoughtful.
"Chu Yuntian!" Chu Feng said.
While the two were talking, Chu Hao started to unwrap the clothes Su Miaoke had bought for him.
After glancing at the brand name, he immediately went online to search for it.
When he saw the price, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
