The vampire had said that the egg was impossible to hatch, that he had tried multiple times before, and nothing happened.
However, to my surprise, my pocket-dimension was having an effect on it. How was that even possible? What did my pocket-dimension have that resonated with the egg like that?
I stopped and watched the egg hatch. Cracks started to appear, more and more, until it finally cracked completely, revealing the creature.
My heart was racing, excited to see what would hatch from that thing. The first thing that came to mind was a dragon. Dragons were such cool creatures. Maybe I would be lucky enough to get one.
But then what I saw was completely different. Unexpected, and at the same time, heartbreaking.
I recognized the creature instantly. The good-old blue slime...
A fucking slime. The creature started jumping inside my pocket-dimension the moment it got out of that egg. It wasn’t a big pocket-dimension, so it could barely move inside that thing.
Even while being inside the pocket-dimension, the slime could still see me. It looked at me with two cute eyes, as if it were staring at its mother or father.
The creature was really cute, I won’t lie. However, I was expecting something incredible, not a slime. Slimes were common creatures, usually seen inside rank F dimension rifts. Weaker than anything I should’ve been finding in the rift I was in.
I punched the tomb’s wall. Pain spread through my fist, but I endured it. In that situation, I tried to be as optimistic as possible.
Having a pet slime was still good. I’ve heard of hunters who had pets before, but it was rare.
Those able to tame and use monsters to fight beside them were few.
Usually, to do that, one needed to have a certain awakened skill. That was not my case, but I somehow managed to get a pet slime, so yeah, I’m built different, it seemed.
The slime couldn’t leave the pocket-dimension without my help. I decided to keep the slime inside until I left that tomb and was in a safer location. Jeremy didn’t want me there, so I didn’t linger much to avoid making him angry.
So, I climbed the staircase, going up and out of the tomb. A tiring set of stairs. With my weak endurance, going up was rough. Going down was much easier.
When I finally left the tomb, I looked around to see if I could spot Mike and the others. They might still be around. But no, I didn’t see anyone.
Once again, I activated my pocket-dimension. It was getting to me. My mind ached so much. Constantly activating my ability was pretty damn hard.
After the cube appeared in front of me, floating, I checked the inside of it, and my heart almost stopped.
Like, really, I almost fainted. The slime was there, like before, but ALL OF MY MONSTER CRYSTALS were missing. All of them. Not a single one of them was there.
The only good thing that had happened to me during that dimensional rift was the monster crystals that Mike didn’t get back from me. It would at least help me improve my strength by a decent amount.
I yelled, unable to contain my anger.
"You ate it? No fucking way!"
I wanted to punch that slime. It looked cute and all, but there was a limit. Eating my crystals was too much.
So I took the slime from the pocket-dimension. I wanted to have the creature right in front of me. You know, talking face-to-face was much better.
The slime jumped with joy the moment I took him out. I ignored the cuteness of that little creature.
My leg was ready to kick it when something happened. The slime burped. It made me even angrier. That little creature was already getting on my nerves.
The slime opened its mouth, and then it vomited. Monster crystals. The same ones I had stored inside my pocket-dimension.
I picked up those crystals and stored them inside my pocket-dimension again. I thought that the slime was giving them back to me, but no, it was even better.
You see, that little cute slime ate all my crystals, and according to my calculations, well, it gave me 10x back. Yes, that’s right.
That slime wasn’t a normal slime, but something really overpowered, something I had never expected to see.
After vomiting all of the crystals back up, I couldn’t put them all back into my pocket-dimension. It was just too many of them.
So, I stored a few inside the leather satchel that Jeremy gave me. The most incredible thing was the rare crystal I got from the vampire. I now had 10 of them. 10.
It was hard to find one, but 10?
My mind was already thinking of all the possibilities I had with that little slime helping me.
The amount of crystals I could get to grow stronger, and even sell them. The possibilities were endless.
If I hadn’t been confident about getting into the academy before, things had changed now.
I pet the slime.
"You’re a good slime," I said.
The slime liked it. It slimed onto me. I put the slime down again. It was too slimy for me.
Renewed with my new pet slime, I walked away from the tomb, heading toward the dungeon’s exit.
It would be a dangerous way back, but not that far. I could return in less than one hour, if I didn’t stop for a second.
Fighting against the undead creatures inside the foggy forest was impossible with my current strength. And using the crystals to improve my body took some time. I had to do it in a safe place.
So, leaving the dungeon was my best option. With that in mind, I ran as fast as I could, hoping to avoid finding Mike and the rest of the team.
