Two Months Earlier
His mouth and eyes shot open at the same time, fresh air rushing into his lungs. A dark starry sky met his gaze. Two moons illuminated the surroundings. One slightly green, another red.
Hiroshi's eyes slowly moved around, eyes locking on the two moons that dominated the night's sky.
Two moons... this isn't Japan.
Where am I?
And it's... night time. Great.
Hiroshi grunted as he pushed off the floor and sat up. He noticed something off with his voice.
Wait... that's not how I sound.
"Aaaaaaahh" He tested.
Why's my voice so deep... and it's...
Nnnnno no no no no
He looked down.
Two round balls of softness pressed against his shirt linen shirt.
His face slowly began to turn red.
I'M A WOMAN!?
W... where are you lil guy!?
He padded his groin with his hand quickly. Nothing was there anymore.
This can't be happening; this has to be some sort of bad prank!
"Damn you little shit, whoever that was that put me here!" He shouted out.
"Give me back my friend, and my normal voice!"
Nothing. No response. Just an owl's hoo's off in the distance somewhere.
He sighed.
Guess that's not happening.
Well, since I'm a woman now...
His face suddenly turned a weird, unnerved smile.
He shook his face.
No! I've got bigger problems right now. I've got to figure out where I am, and what kind of world this is.
Hiroshi's eyes locked on to the red moon, who stared back at him ominously.
Putting his hand on the ground to get up he felt something... weird.
Turning his head slowly to face his ground, his face became ghostly pale, shocked.
W-w-w-what is that?!
A green, gooey substance was sticking to his hand, and his bottom where he was sitting.
Is that... or am I being eaten by a slime!? I sure hope it's a slime.
The green goo was censored.
He sprung up to his feet, quickly shaking and padding it off him, disgusted.
Euck... glad that's off.
Looking around, he noticed there was a trail of the goo, mixed with in with a little bit of blood.
Something has been dragged away into the brush nearby.
That doesn't look... good...
Anyway, I better leave this area, before that's MY blood mixed with that... stuff...
Let's see, where to go...
He raised his shoulders and dropped them.
Well, it doesn't matter. Let's just walk straight and see if I can find something or someone to help me.
He began to walk, whilst looking around.
Everything looked mostly normal. Grass, trees, the sounds. But occasionally there was an odd plant that he has never seen, almost alien. Not to mention some high pitched, short screeches coming from the forest, those animals were definitely not from Japan.
Shivers went down Hiroshi's spine.
Those screeches were pretty close... maybe I should go, I don't know... IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION?
A flock of crows quickly scattered from the trees. The wind died down and the rustling of the foliage came to a stop.
Just as he was about to turn, he stopped. With his body gone cold, he remembered this feeling from his days of sparring.
Something rustled in the bush a few meters away from him.
Shit. Something's there, and it's definitely stronger than me.
Please don't be a wolf, please don't be a wolf.
Keeping his body still, he rotated his head very slowly and then his eyes to see what's behind him.
A giant, thick furred wolf-like creature leapt out of the bushes, it's eyes glowing red, with the fangs the size of a sabre-tooth.
Oh come on... that's not a wolf.
THAT'S A WOLF ON STEROIDS!!
He burst into a sprint, jumping into a thick bush and began to dodge trees and fallen trunks.
Sweat began to form.
This is bad, like REALLY bad. I JUST GOT HERE! He turned to see if he had lost it.
It was there, right behind him. It looked even more pissed off than when he first met it.
I can't out run it... I need something... a stick, a rock, anythi-
The feral beast leapt into the air and scraped his back, sending Hiroshi flying into the tree in front of him.
"Gah!" He coughed out, hitting the tree.
It's coming!
Without stopping, the beast continued its unrelenting assault, jumping atop of him, ferociously biting towards his neck.
On instinct, Hiroshi began to bash the wolf's head with his fist, it seemingly not doing any damage.
I-I'ts not even reacting to my punches!
The rabid wolf began to break through his defense, barking and biting closer and closer to his neck.
Is this it?... Was this my second chance...?
A memory took over his vision.
"Remember Hiroshi..." An old man's voice spoke.
Sensei?
The vision became a little bit clearer. Hiroshi's teacher's hand was on his shoulder.
"Whenever you can, try identify the opponents weakness, and exploit it."
Opponents weakness...
The vision began to fade with his teacher smiling at him.
Hmm... opponents weakness...
HOW!? IT'S A FREAKING JACKED OUT MEGA WOLF. WHAT WEAKNESS!?
Wait.
Whilst defending against the bites, an epiphany occurred to him.
It's biting... that's it, it's throat!
Whilst holding the wolf back with his forearm he desperately drove his fist into its neck over and over.
Nothing
Of course... figures... what could I possibly do against it. This pisses me off.
The creature's teeth were inches away from his neck now.
My second chance... over so quick.
Suddenly, his brow furrowed deeply, teeth gritted.
"No! I will not let you take this from me!" He roared out.
He drew it closer with his wrist, it continued to munch on it, blood running down his arm.
With the wolf close to his head, he opened his mouth and suddenly chomped down on its eye tightly, clenching his jaws with all the strength he had left.
A strange sensation came from his mouth, like something sharp piercing the wolf.
Just... DIE ALREADY!
With his teeth buried in the creature's eye, he yanked back, ripping it out.
The creature released his wrist and whimpered loudly whilst leaping back.
Hiroshi spat out its eye onto the floor, squelching as it hit the ground.
Yeah, how do you like that!?
"COME ON THEN!" His stern woman's voice demanded the wolf's action.
He stood up with the help of the tree behind him, raising his blooded wrist in front of him again as a shield.
Without hesitation, the feral beast leapt up into the air for another arial attack, aiming for the wrist.
It likes to jump into the air huh.
It sank its teeth into his forearm again.
Fuck, that hurts a lot...
In that case, you're about to hurt a lot more!
With a single motion, he twisted his body while the beast was still airborne, just about to land, slamming it into the tree behind him.
It whimpered again, falling to the ground. Without wasting a second, Hiroshi hopped on top of the wolf, pinning it down.
I need to finish this quick...
His vision began to blur, partly from the exhaustion, and with some blood running down into his eye.
The thumps in his chest were rapid. Was it from fear? The adrenaline? It didn't matter. It was do or die.
"AAAAGGGHH!!!" A final war cry was let out.
He gritted his teeth and began to bash the beast's head from both sides. It whimpered on each hit now.
It's... working...
His vision blurred even more.
With each bash, the beast got quieter, until it stopped moving. His hands however, hadn't.
The fight was over. He kept smashing the wolf from both sides despite it stopping moving moments ago. His breath was fast, each punch slowing.
He straightened his back, looking down at the dead beast beneath him, his chest rapidly expanding and shrinking, vision blurry.
I... I did it.
Everything hurts though.
At least, I'm alive.
"Greater Dire Wolf Defeated."
A voice spoke. Cold. Mechanical.
Who said that!?
Hiroshi's eyes darted quickly around, trying to find the source.
"Level up."
Level? What... like from the video games?
"Title acquired: Underdog."
"Please choose two skills."
It went silent.
Skills? I haven't played much but... that's like an ability, right?
How do I choose?
It announced again.
"Please choose two skills."
His eyes didn't find anyone nearby. Then it occurred to him.
It's... speaking directly to my thoughts?
I need to figure out how to choose those skills...
Concentrate... think...
He closed his eyes and let out a sigh, trying to focus.
Then, as if the body he's in remembered, he spoke.
"Status."
A window popped open in front of him, detailing everything about him.
HP: 49/150
MP: 0/100
Level: 2
Age: 40
Class: Vampire
Title: Underdog
Skills: None
Choose skills?
His eyes glanced over the window and locked in on the HP.
Damn, it's almost zero. I think if it reaches that, I'll truly die again.
What's this? Class?
VAMPIRE!?
L-like those stories about them sucking on blood and sleeping in coffins!? Nnn no no no no. I'm not doing that.
Drinking someone's blood? That's disgusting!
A thought crossed his mind of him behind a person, his teeth in their throat, drinking blood happily.
He shivered.
Choose skills huh. I'll do that later when I'm not half dead.
"Status Close"
The window disappeared.
Anyhow, this confirms it. I really am in a different world.
He looked up at the sky, its two moons staring down at him indifferently, then down at the wolf, its thick fur and giant fangs soaked in blood, his vision blurred.
I should rest up and choose the skills later. Maybe cook this wolf.
A thought of eating charred, seasoned meat over a campfire whilst humming happily crossed his mind.
He he he he
Whilst he daydreamed about freshly cooked meat, a large shadow crept over behind him until it snapped him out of it.
No... please no...
It grew big enough to not be ignored. He turned his head slowly.
You've got to be kidding me.
