The night bid goodbye, and the early morning sun shone brightly in the sky.
Although it was a bit colder than usual.
Athissa pulled her black hood over her head as she climbed into the cart after feeding the horse.
“Ah, so chilly,” Athissa whispered and shivered slightly.
It took her a while before reaching the pack house, where her carriage was already waiting for her.
From afar, Athissa had already seen a man standing, waiting for her in a stiff posture.
When she got close, she hopped down and bowed.
“Alpha, did I make you wait for long?” Athissa asked flatly.
She could still remember the slap from Richard yesterday.
“Not much.
Check the items in the cart and tell me if you need more,” Richard stated, gesturing to the other cart beside the carriage.
Athissa nodded and began inspecting.
She didn’t need much extra stuff since she had her personal belongings, but she didn’t know what the future held when she reached the Ravenfort pack.
“I have no complaints since most materials and items I need are here, but have you forgotten something?” Athissa asked, raising a brow.
Questioning whether the Alpha King had broken his own promise.
Richard sighed deeply and gestured to the omega nearby.
The omega opened the carriage, and inside was a medium-sized box placed on the chair.
“That is enough for your travels and to start a new life there.
Since you’re a doctor referred by me, an Alpha King.
I’m sure they won’t do you harm… I think,” Richard stated, rubbing his chin while the confidence in his voice diminished in his last sentence.
“Well, that’s comforting,” Athissa said sarcastically.
She checked the box and saw a full stack of gold and a few jewels.
She nodded in satisfaction and looked back at Richard.
“This is enough.”
“Right,” Richard replied and looked at the other omegas on standby.
Right on cue, they started unloading Athissa’s cart and placed it on the other cart.
“I only rented my cart.
The owner will be here soon.
I already paid full price for the rent,” Athissa stated, informing Richard in case there would be a misunderstanding.
Richard didn’t reply and only grunted.
Both of them remained silent, just staring at the omegas, who were visibly uncomfortable with their gaze.
‘They’re not here,’ Athissa thought.
She couldn’t help but notice that none of her family members were there to bid farewell.
‘Ah, I guess they don’t really care even if there’s a possibility that I won’t ever return.’
Athissa was saddened at that thought, but shrugged it off.
They waited until the omegas finished their job.
Athissa walked toward the carriage as the coachman was impatiently waiting for her.
Athissa climbed onto the carriage’s sofa and settled in comfortably, since it would be her room for the next few days.
Richard only stared at Athissa before turning his back and leaving without a farewell.
“I’m sure they’re happy that I’m finally gone.
They succeeded in removing me, a mole in their happy family,” Athissa muttered and slumped back.
That time, Athissa felt heartbroken, as if she were being thrown away like a piece of trash.
It didn’t take long before Athissa felt the carriage moving.
She closed her eyes and planned to nap for a few hours.
As they were getting to the pack house’s gate, a familiar voice screamed from outside.
“STOPPPP!!!!”
Athissa’s ears perked.
She peeked outside the window and saw Mary in a cart, following her.
“Stop the carriage!” Athissa shouted at the coachman, who obeyed instantly.
Athissa opened the door and hopped down.
“Mary, why are you here?” Athissa asked with a confused look.
“I already paid you in full, plus bonus.”
“NO!
I’m not after the money, and yes, I received them!” Mary said while breathing rapidly.
Athissa noticed the coachman was the same person she rented the cart from.
“Sir, your cart is in the pack house,” she notified.
“Ah yes, my son already took it.
However, this young lady rented another cart to chase you, haha!” The old coachman laughed heartily.
He went and took a medium-sized bag and gave it to Mary.
“I’ll be going now!” He added and immediately left.
Athissa looked at Mary and the coachman with a strange, confused look.
“Okay, what’s going on?” Athissa asked.
“Didn’t the Alpha King tell you?” Mary asked in a confused tone as both women looked at each other with furrowed brows.
“No?” Athissa replied, shaking her head.
“We’ll talk about it later.
Let’s get inside the carriage,” she then pulled Mary with her.
The coachman immediately started the ride with a grunt.
“Okay, tell me now,” Athissa crossed her arms and eyes squinted.
“Ah, let me explain.
I thought about your departure last night, and I can’t.
I just can’t work with other people.
So I contacted the Alpha King to volunteer myself to accompany you as your assistant and maid,” Mary explained with pride as she crunched her nose.
“What did he reply?” Athissa asked, wanting to know all the details.
“Well, it took a while before the Alpha King mind-linked me.
He said that he agreed with the arrangement that I’ll be your personal maid and assist you in both personal and medical needs since you’re still a beta’s daughter,” Mary explained, clasping her hands together.
“That was kind of you, Mary,” Athissa clasped her chest.
Clearly touched at Mary’s gesture.
“That’s why I got confused when I got to the pack house, and you were already gone.
Good thing that old man was there.
I only paid three silver coins, and he agreed to my request.” She added.
Athissa sighed and massaged her temples.
“Richard said nothing to me.” She relayed.
“Oh, maybe he just forgot, but I can attest he agreed with me,” Mary exclaimed, afraid that Athissa thought she was lying.
“Maybe…” Athissa looked at the window, but she knew Richard would never forget such details.
“Or he intentionally kept quiet about it,” she murmured.
“Hmm?
What is it?” Mary asked, unable to completely hear what Athissa said.
“Nothing, you can inform that man that you’re with me,” Athissa suddenly became irritated at the thought of what if Mary wasn’t able to chase her.
What would happen next?
A peaceful chapter!
No drama.
No fighting.
No screaming.
Enjoy it while you can.
I don’t trust it either.
