"Get down!" Alexander shouts as he leaps to shield Olivia and Ethan with his own body.
Alexander blocks falling debris that crashes onto his back. Though his chest spurts blood again from the torn stitches on his wound, he remains steadfast, refusing to move an inch to protect the two people beneath his embrace.
"Alex, you’re bleeding!" Olivia screams, holding Alexander’s arm as she sees the pain flicker across his face.
"I’m fine," Alexander whispers, his voice hoarse but filled with unwavering resolve. He quickly looks up, sweeping his gaze toward the cloud of smoke where Arthur was standing.
Arthur Vance Rington has disappeared behind a collapsed pillar, evacuated by two remaining tactical guards heading toward the underground emergency escape route of the station.
"Daniel! Take Olivia and Ethan out through the north logistics tunnel!" Alexander commands, raising his tactical rifle toward the collapsed corridor.
"Where are you going, Alex?!" Olivia grips Alexander’s coat tightly, her eyes wide with fear at the thought of losing her man.
Alexander looks into Olivia’s eyes, gently brushing dust off her cheek. "Arthur has the backup detonator remote in the underground sector of the station. If he presses the second button, the entire building will collapse, burying the main rail line of London. I need to cut his escape route before he gets out."
"I’m coming with you!" Daniel insists, readying his weapon.
"No, Daniel! Your main task is to ensure Olivia and Ethan reach the Swiss embassy safely!" Alexander cuts in with absolute authority, leaving no room for argument. He then pats Ethan’s shoulder gently. "Take care of your mom, Ethan."
Before Olivia can protest further, Alexander turns and charges into the burning wall crack, disappearing quickly into the thick plume of smoke billowing high above.
The dark, damp underground tunnel of Victoria Station is filled with the roar of dead ventilator machines. The smell of raw gas emanates strongly from the cracked transmission pipes caused by the main explosion.
Arthur Vance Rington limps down a narrow steel corridor, leaning on a metal-tipped cane. His two tactical guards lead ahead with their flashlights piercing the darkness, scanning the shadows.
"Open the evacuation door to the city drainage tunnel!" Arthur barks, breath ragged from the burning anger in his chest. "The rescue helicopter waits on the Thames riverbank!"
"There’s no helicopter coming, Dad."
A cold voice calmly echoes from behind the concrete pillar shadows at the corridor’s end.
The two guards suddenly tense, aiming their guns at the source of the voice. But before they can pull the trigger, two silenced shots fire from the shadows.
The guards collapse instantly to the concrete floor, their weapons flying into the pipes.
"You always think the people around you are just pawns to be discarded, Arthur," Alexander says calmly, his footsteps crunching over broken stones on the floor.
Arthur smirks, ignoring the pain in his leg as he grips his mahogany walking stick. "You think you’ve won, Alexander? You’re just a mirror of me! The blood flowing through your veins is Rington blood, the blood of rulers who don’t know mercy!"
"I used to be a monster like you want," Alexander replies coldly, gazing at the old man without blinking. "But that woman and my son taught me there’s something far more valuable than your worthless power."
"Trash?!" Arthur screams hysterically, his voice echoing loudly against the steel corridor walls. "I built the Rington Group from the cold battlefield ruins! I’m the one who feeds you, gives you a place at the top of the world! Julian, Eleanora, and all of you exist only to serve my grand vision!"
Alexander grabs the collar of his father’s expensive coat, forcing the old man to look into his smoldering silver eyes, filled with fire that then cools into a deadly calm.
"Your game ends tonight," Alexander whispers right in Arthur’s face. He snatches the backup detonator remote from inside Arthur’s coat pocket, then crushes the electronic device into pieces on the floor beneath his heel.
Arthur gasps, eyes wide with shock at the destruction of his grand plan. "You’ll never get away from me, Alexander. The Zurich consortium already knows about Ethan."
"They can try," Alexander replies coldly.
Alexander drives his rifle stock into Arthur’s jaw, knocking the old man unconscious onto the concrete floor.
Heavy tactical footsteps approach from behind the corridor. A secret British MI5 military police team and Swiss federal agents storm in with full weapons, illuminating the chaos of the fight.
"Mr. Rington! Drop your weapons!" the commanding officer shouts.
Alexander calmly lays his weapon on the floor, raising both hands and pointing at Arthur’s prone body. "Secure this man. He’s the international fugitive Arthur Vance Rington."
Outside, dozens of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks fill the streets of London. Yellow police tape stretches across the main road, sealing off the area.
Inside a soundproof medical van belonging to the Swiss Embassy, Olivia sits holding Ethan, who’s asleep from exhaustion. A clean bandage covers her arm, but her mind never strays far from the open back door of the van.
Daniel stands outside, talking with high-ranking officials from the foreign ministry while signing security guarantee papers.
Olivia quickly looks up. Alexander approaches, wrapped in a new black medical coat provided by the rescue team. His burn scars and dust still mark his face, but his silver eyes look at Olivia with pure warmth that words can’t describe.
Olivia leaps out of the van, crashing into Alexander’s arms regardless of the pain in her hands. She clings tight, burying her face in his broad chest.
"You’re back!" Olivia’s tears burst out as her face is soaked with emotion.
Alexander responds with all his strength, kissing her head repeatedly as he breathes in the scent of her hair that always makes him feel like he’s found his way home.
"I promised I’d never leave you again, Olivia," he whispers, his voice trembling with deep gratitude.
Daniel walks over, offering a rare, relieved smile. "Arthur Rington and his entire network are now behind bars at maximum security in Belmarsh. The Swiss authorities have also frozen all illegal bank accounts under Rington Corp."
"What about Olivia and Ethan’s legal status?" Alexander asks, gently holding Olivia’s waist.
"All charges related to patent fraud have been completely cleared by the Supreme Court," Daniel replies, handing over three new dark blue diplomatic passports. "The Swiss government grants political asylum and full citizenship to the Rington-Carter family. You can leave for Zurich this evening to start a new, completely safe life."
Olivia looks at the passports in her hand, then at Alexander with a smile free of the shadows of fear she carried for the past five years. "Zurich — our new home?"
Alexander smiles softly, patting Ethan, who is waking up gently inside the van. "A place where nothing can tear us apart again."
A magnificent, classical-style estate stands gracefully by Lake Zurich, Switzerland. The first snow of winter begins to fall softly, covering the pine trees and the sprawling lawn with a beautiful white blanket.
Inside a warm, wood-paneled study by the fireplace, Olivia sits at a large wooden desk, typing the final Chapter of her life story novel, inspired by her journey.
Ethan runs happily outside with a retired tracking dog Daniel bought for him, his laughter echoing softly through the cold Zurich air.
The door of the study opens gently. Alexander steps in wearing a casual gray knit sweater, carrying two steaming cups of hot chocolate. He places the cups on the desk, then stands behind Olivia’s chair, wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"How’s your last Chapter coming along?" Alexander asks softly, leaning to kiss her cheek.
"It’s finished," Olivia replies with a sweet smile, tilting her head to enjoy his touch. "A happy ending for the three of us."
Alexander gazes out the window, watching Ethan make a snowman under Daniel’s supervision. The peace he’s never known in his life now fills his soul completely.
But that peaceful afternoon is suddenly interrupted by the gentle ringing of Alexander’s laptop.
He frowns, approaches, and clicks on the encrypted message.
The screen immediately displays a secret surveillance video recorded ten minutes ago from an underground detention cell at Belmarsh Prison, London.
In the silent footage, the prison cell where Arthur Vance Rington is held looks chaotic. Three armed guards lie stiff on the floor with broken necks.
"Arthur Vance Rington is just our treasurer. Ethan Carter’s bloodline inheritance belongs to the Main Consortium. We’re coming to take what’s ours in Zurich before the snowstorm ends."
At the same time, all the security system lights in the luxurious Zurich home suddenly go out.
A shrill siren from the perimeter security system blares loudly, breaking the winter silence by the lake.
From behind the snowy pine forest surrounding the house, a dozen green laser points—military-grade—rapidly sweep through the darkness, scanning the window of Alexander and Olivia’s study.
