The violent, jagged arcs of blue lightning danced across Lady Eleanor's perfectly manicured fingertips, casting an eerie, undulating glow over the dark mahogany furniture.
The crackling, lethal energy reflected perfectly within my glowing ruby-red eyes, painting my vision with a stark, luminous warning of the raw power dynamic currently ruling the world of Eon.
In this world, strength and social standing were governed by a rigid, unyielding hierarchical system measured primarily in Circles, Cycles, and Tiers.
The Circle represented the absolute macro-level depth and capacity of an individual's core, strictly categorized on a scale ranging from the weak 1st Circle to the legendary, country-destroying 10th Circle.
How that power manifested depended entirely on your combat class. For spellcasters, power was channeled through Mana Cycles, which dictated the speed and refinement of elemental casting.
For physical combatants, power was measured in Tiers, determining the density of their physical aura used to shatter armor and bone.
For high-ranking nobles of my age, exactly twenty years old, mediocrity was a death sentence.
A young noble of the upper class was universally expected to have already awakened and broken through to become at least a 4th or 5th Circle Mage, or a 4th or 5th Tier Warrior.
And then, there was me.
Kael Valerius.
The absolute laughingstock of the Valerius household.
A total failure permanently stuck at the 3rd Circle and 3rd Mana Cycle, barely possessing the strength of a common academy student.
In sharp contrast, the furious woman sitting on my bed was a certified Tier 5 Mage from a prominent family of Southern Bureaucrats.
Mages in Eon were wielders of mana meant for pure, unadulterated elemental destruction.
At this terrifyingly close range, a single, unrestrained blast of Eleanor's Tier 5 lightning wouldn't just overcome my pathetic 3rd Circle defenses; it would instantly boil the blood in my veins and reduce my bones to a pile of smoking ash before I could even access the system.
I had pushed the viper directly into a corner, and now she was baring her fangs.
The sharp scent of raw ozone filled the air, completely overpowering her sweet vanilla perfume.
The crimson silk sheets beneath her hands began to scorch, filling the air with thin wisps of grey smoke.
"You think you have me trapped, Kael?" Eleanor hissed, her sapphire eyes flaring with volatile, deadly mana.
"I could obliterate you right here, right now. There wouldn't be enough of your pathetic body left to even bury."
My heart skipped a painful beat. A cold spike of genuine, unadulterated fear pierced straight through my confident facade.
My instincts screamed at me to step back, to raise my hands, to survive.
But a manipulator could never show weakness. The moment she realized I was internally frightened, my leverage would turn to dust.
So, I forced my heartbeat to steady. I kept my spine perfectly straight, kept my hands resting casually near my sides, and let a cold, mocking smile spread across my face.
"You could," I agreed smoothly, my voice completely devoid of the paralyzing fear gripping my chest. I didn't take a single step back.
Instead, I leaned slightly closer to the crackling electricity. "It would take less than a second. But then what, Eleanor?"
She blinked, the violent blue sparks jumping erratically between her fingers as my lack of fear confused her mages' instincts.
"What do you mean?" she demanded, her voice tight.
"I am the Third Son," I reminded her, keeping my ruby eyes locked dead onto hers. "If a blast of Tier 5 lightning magic detonates inside this wing, the Vanguard Knights will be here in less than two minutes.
The magical residue will be undeniably yours. How exactly are you going to explain my charred corpse to my mother, Seraphina?"
Eleanor's jaw tightened.
"And more importantly," I continued, twisting the metaphorical knife.
"What happens when First Mother Morgana finds out? Do you think she will listen to your excuses? Or do you think she will finally find the perfect, legal justification to execute the daughter-in-law she always despised for murdering an heir in cold blood?
You used her precious firstborn, Knight Commander Cassius, as a disposable pawn to push me down the Abyssal Ravine. If she realizes you poisoned his ears and endangered his future title, she will have you flayed alive."

Slowly, the violent arcs of lightning began to recede.
Eleanor pulled her hands away from the scorching silk sheets, clenching her fingers into tight fists until the last remnants of blue mana faded into the air.
The immediate threat of death was gone, but her aristocratic pride was far from broken.
She took a slow, deep breath, her massive breasts heaving against her tight midnight-blue corset, and her sapphire eyes narrowed into a cold, calculating glare.
The sheer terror of her situation was suddenly replaced by the sharp, rational cunning inherent to her Southern Bureaucrat lineage.
As she sat there in silence, I let my gaze wander, completely unbothered by her hostility.
My eyes dropped, openly oggling the soft curves spilling from her low-cut gown and the teasing expanse of pale flesh visible through the scandalous slit over her thigh.
To her, I was likely just acting true to form; my intense, lingering stare only confirmed her internal bias that I was a predictable, horny loser driven entirely by base desires.
'He's trying to act tough because he got lucky,' Eleanor rationalized to herself internally, her pulse steadying as she watched my eyes trace her body.
A cold, hidden contempt formed beneath her elegant mask. 'But he is ultimately a fool slave to his own lust. I'll just negotiate the days down, give him a handjob a couple of times to satisfy him, and then once his guard is down... I will find a much quieter, undetectable chance to remove his head from his neck.'
I caught the subtle, icy shift in her expression, the telltale sign of a cornered predator pretending to tame itself while secretly marking its target.
She was clearly spinning a dark timeline in her head, planning to play along just long enough to find an opening.
But with the absolute power of the system at my disposal, I didn't feel the slightest bit tense. I simply smiled, continuing to openly enjoy the view while letting her think she had a fighting chance.
"Fourteen nights is entirely out of the question," she stated coldly, straightening her spine and crossing her arms to reclaim a shred of dignity.
"Cassius is a brute, but as the Knight Commander, he is not entirely blind. If I sneak away to the outcast's quarters for a full fortnight, he will notice my absence. I will give you three nights."
I raised a single eyebrow, amused by her audacity to haggle while standing on the gallows.
"Seven."
"Five," she countered instantly, her chin raising in defiance.
"And I will only use my hands. You will not touch me, and my mouth stays entirely out of this."
I watched her for a moment. She truly believed she had just regained control of the board.
She thought she was feeding a starving dog a few scraps of meat so it wouldn't bite, completely unaware that the meat was already heavily laced with a psychological poison she could never resist.
If I forced the full fourteen days right now, her Tier 5 core might panic again. Letting her think she won the negotiation was the perfect way to lure her deeper into the snare.

"Five nights," I repeated slowly, feigning a slight reluctance. I let my ruby eyes drop to her perfectly manicured hands, pretending to be swayed by my own lust.
"Fine. But I dictate the pace, Eleanor. And if you try to shortchange me, I go straight to First Mother Morgana."
A fleeting, triumphant smirk flashed across her glossy red lips before she could hide it.
She had successfully talked the loser down from two weeks of absolute degradation to a mere five nights of manual labor.
"We have an agreement, then," she said, her voice dripping with condescension. She looked at me like I was a pest she merely had to tolerate for the rest of the week.
"We do," I agreed softly.
"Unlock the door," she commanded, standing up from the bed. She smoothly brushed out the wrinkles in her scandalous midnight-blue gown, her aristocratic mask fully back in place.
"I will return tomorrow at midnight. And make sure you bathe beforehand. I will not have my hands smelling like a commoner's filth."
I stepped aside and unlocked the heavy brass lock.
Eleanor didn't spare me a second glance as she swept out of the room, her sweet vanilla perfume trailing behind her.
The door clicked shut, leaving me alone in the dark once again.
I leaned back against the wood, a dark, genuine laugh bubbling up from my chest.
She thought she was going to pacify me with a few reluctant handjobs and then have me killed when she has the chance.
She had absolutely no idea what my Electrifying Touch combined with my refined essence was going to do to her heavily guarded mind.
Five nights was more than enough time to turn the proud Vanguard Knight's wife into an absolutely desperate, groveling addict who would beg for the very contract she just fought to escape.
When she returned tomorrow night, her true descent would begin.
