It was getting late, and after such a long ordeal, everyone went back to rest without another word.

An unfamiliar scent drifted into Cang Yuan’s nose, making him very uncomfortable.

He felt highly irritable and entirely devoid of sleepiness.Full novel: My Villain Mate Won’t Play His Role — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Fortunately, Su Cha was relatively quiet, just lying there motionless.

After countless times of furrowing and relaxing his brows, Cang Yuan finally took out a large animal skin and covered Su Cha with it.

He closed his eyes, trying hard to adapt to her scent.

Who knew that with a flick of her hand, Su Cha would throw off a corner of the blanket.

Cang Yuan opened his eyes again and covered her back up.

Su Cha threw it off again, and Cang Yuan impatiently covered her once more.

When Su Cha threw it off for the third time, Cang Yuan stopped bothering with her.

He closed his eyes to sleep, though it took quite a while before he finally drifted off.

The first light of dawn broke through the morning breeze.

“Ah!

Hiss!” An untimely exclamation rang out.

Cang Yuan was awakened by the noise.

Looking up, he saw Su Cha sitting on the floor, holding her left arm with her right hand.

Her teary eyes glared at him with anger.

“You fell down on your own,” Cang Yuan said, implying that it had nothing to do with him.

His bed had its head against the wall, with empty space on both the left and right sides.

Su Cha certainly knew she had fallen on her own, but she still couldn’t help feeling stifled.

She thought, “If I hadn’t woken up to see the villain’s peerlessly beautiful face right next to me, would I have been startled enough to fall off?”

“How did I end up in your room?” Su Cha climbed to her feet and patted non-existent dust off her clothes.

In truth, Cang Yuan’s room was kept impeccably clean; even the corners were spotless.

“You were unconscious yesterday.

The Clan Leader had someone put you in my room.” Although it was an expressionless statement, Su Cha somehow detected a hint of helplessness and grievance in his tone.

Su Cha remembered fainting from sheer exhaustion yesterday, but she had no idea what happened after that.

This was also her first time sharing a bed with a man, so out of embarrassment, she dropped the subject.

“Let me check your wounds.” As she spoke, she reached out to lift Cang Yuan’s blanket.

Cang Yuan froze, his face darkening slightly, but he didn’t voice any objections.

Su Cha could tell at a glance that Cang Yuan was definitely cursing her for being shameless in his mind.

She shot him a disdainful look and briskly threw back the lower half of his blanket.

“In the eyes of a doctor, there is no gender—no male, no female,” Su Cha said, her voice cool and tinged with disdain.

When she saw that Cang Yuan’s legs were healing much faster than she had expected, she couldn’t help but be slightly surprised.

She wondered, “Do all Beastmen have such incredible regenerative abilities?

But my own body is no different from an ordinary human’s!” Sure enough, a villain was a villain.

This could be considered a cheat code granted to him by the author, ensuring he could survive until the very end to stir up trouble.

“Your recovery is going well.

You can use the wheelchair I had you make to go outside and move around, but you still can’t put any weight on your legs for a month.

I’ll find someone to brew your medicine later.” With that, she walked out.

Her left arm was still hurting, so she needed to rest as well.

Just as she stepped out of Cang Yuan’s room, Su Cha noticed rustling and the faint sound of voices coming from the house next door.

The Beastmen in this beast world knew how to build wooden and bamboo houses.

There were houses on both her left and right, though they were rather dilapidated and had been vacant for a long time.

She wondered, “Did new Beastmen join the tribe?”

Just as the thought crossed her mind, KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK, someone knocked on her door.

She looked at the broken lock and fell silent for a moment before saying, “Come in.” She thought, “It breaks countless times a month.

I wonder what the point of this lock even is?” Three Beastmen walked in.

They were none other than Bai Jiaojiao’s males.

Xiong Lie was carrying three bear cubs in his arms—some pitch black, some fair and tender.

They were tiny, round, and incredibly adorable.

“Su Cha, Jiaojiao and the rest of us moved in next door so it’ll be easier to take care of you.

Are you feeling any better?” Lang Yin stepped forward and asked respectfully.

“A bit better,” Su Cha replied.

Since she happened to need the free labor that just delivered itself to her doorstep, she didn’t refuse.

After all, her old injuries had indeed flared up because she saved their female.

“Jiaojiao’s body hasn’t fully recovered yet.

She’ll come over once she’s better.

Do you need us to cook for you?

Where’s Cang Yuan?” Xiong Lie clearly harbored a deep prejudice against Cang Yuan, glancing around with dissatisfaction.

Su Cha found his attitude baffling but simply assumed that the tribe’s males looked down on disabled Beastmen.

She casually made up an excuse: “Cang Yuan’s injuries have worsened.

He can’t move around right now.”

Xiong Lie froze for a moment, then mumbled an “Oh.”

“Jiaojiao said that you saved her life.

We’ll take good care of you while you’re recovering.

Go get some rest; we’ll cook for you,” Lang Yin said generously.

Su Cha foresaw that if she agreed, she would have to face Cang Yuan’s scowling, dark expression every single day.

She decisively refused.

“There’s no need.

Just cook on your end and bring some over for us.”

Lang Yin thought about it and agreed that this arrangement worked too.

“Lang Yin, could I trouble you to help me carry this wheelchair into the room?” Su Cha asked politely.

Lang Yin patted his chest.

“Of course, no problem at all.”

The wheelchair was brought to Cang Yuan’s bedside.

Cang Yuan rejected Lang Yin’s kind offer to carry him, stating that he could manage it himself.

Su Cha sighed and reminded him once again to avoid putting any weight on his legs.

She then led Lang Yin out.

“What a fiercely proud and stubborn villain,” she thought.

She had no idea how Cang Yuan did it, but less than a moment after they left, he wheeled himself out.

Shortly after, Bai Jiaojiao’s males brought over some food.

Su Cha didn’t have much of an appetite, so she ate very little.

She glanced at the villain.

He remained completely expressionless, but he clearly ate much less than usual.

Su Cha chuckled silently, then lay back on the recliner to bask in the sun.

That afternoon, the Clan Leader brought over a few males, including Xiong Da and Xiong Er.

Mo Nian first asked about Su Cha’s physical condition.

Upon learning that she was fine, he got down to business.

“Su Cha, we’ve all tasted your salt.

It’s much better than the Balin Tribe’s, and it’s not poisonous!

I’ve found the people you asked for and brought them over for you to see.

We can wait until your body is fully recovered before we start refining the salt.” Mo Nian spoke with great delight, as if he could already see handfuls of beast coins flying toward him.

Following Mo Nian’s introductions, Su Cha looked over the six males one by one.

She nodded, having no objections.

“Clan Leader, please have someone clear out the right courtyard and prepare these items.

Have them come over every afternoon, and I will teach them,” Su Cha instructed.

The Clan Leader readily agreed and sent a few Beastmen off to gather the supplies.

Then, he offered some earnest advice: “Hu Zhi, who is among them, is a Fifth-rank Beastman.

If you like him, you can take him as your male.

There are quite a few Beastmen in the tribe right now who want to be your male.

If you don’t like Cang Yuan, you can find a few other Beastmen from the tribe.

Since both you and Cang Yuan have mobility issues, they can take good care of you.” Mo Nian was calculating in his heart, planning to introduce Su Cha to a few more males from the tribe.

Although Cang Yuan was technically one of them, he was a Wandering Beastman who had only been with the tribe for half a year.

Su Cha’s mouth twitched involuntarily.

She brushed him off, saying, “I know.

There’s no rush for this.

Let’s focus on refining the salt first before considering anything else.” She then used the excuse of feeling unwell to politely usher them out.

Turning around, Su Cha spotted Cang Yuan wheeling himself out from behind the house.

Judging by his dark, gloomy expression, she knew he had overheard the Clan Leader’s words.

Cang Yuan stared at her, making Su Cha feel a sudden twinge of guilt.

But she quickly snapped out of it, wondering, “Why should I feel guilty?”

“This is my home.”

“Besides becoming mates, is there any other way for me to have the scent of a mate on my body?”

The two spoke almost simultaneously.

Su Cha heard him, and Cang Yuan heard her.

Su Cha spoke up first.

“I know.” She knew that given Cang Yuan’s solitary nature, he likely hated the idea of other Beastmen living with him.

Even she was only tolerated because she had utility.

She could guarantee that once Cang Yuan’s injuries healed and his poison was cured, he would leave the tribe without a second thought.

Cang Yuan froze for a long moment.

Casting a complex look at Su Cha, he replied, “Yes.

There is a plant called the Mimicry Herb.

It can be found on the back mountain.”
