Yan Luoxi stared blankly at the handsome face enlarged before her, her breath filled with the clear and cold scent of tobacco.
Her heart missed a beat, and her body instinctively leaned back.
The distance between them widened again, and she let out a dry chuckle, “Seventh Master really knows how to joke.”
Li Yeqi leaned against the wall, his deep gaze quietly watching her face.
His tall and straight figure imposed an invisible pressure, as his voice rose slowly, tinged with a touch of tender lingering, “Call me Seventh Brother.”
Yan Luoxi felt a pang of surprise in her heart, then awkwardly brushed her hair, “That doesn’t seem quite appropriate, we’re not that familiar with each other.”
Li Yeqi’s thin lips slightly curved, watching her long eyelashes cast a shadow in the light, his dark eyes filled with amusement, but that amusement was devoid of warmth, “How familiar do we need to be then?”
Yan Luoxi’s eyes suddenly widened, the man’s thin lips stretching into a playful arc, his half-serious, half-joking attitude infuriating her beyond measure.
She gripped her purse strap tighter, her gentle voice echoing in the silent corridor, “Seventh Master’s joke has gone too far.
I can’t stomach supper now.
If there’s a chance next time, I’ll apologize to Seventh Master then.”
Li Yeqi watched her annoyed turn with a slight arch of his handsome brows, his gaze playful and profound.
She had truly forgotten him completely, as if he had no presence in her world at all.
He declared that he was very angry.
Without much effort, he caught her hand and pulled her back, his deep eyes locking onto her slightly temperamental face with a low and husky voice ringing in her ear, “Angry with embarrassment?”
Yan Luoxi glared up at him, struggling against his grip.
His seemingly effortless restraint was inescapable.
Like a provoked little beast, she snapped, “Let go!”
“Let’s go for supper, I’m hungry, hmm?” The man ignored her struggles, and simply pulled her away.
I really will call for help.”
Li Yeqi looked indifferent, infuriating her to the point of fuming, and she shouted at the top of her lungs, “Help!
Somebody help!
There’s someone abducting a decent woman here!”
Li Yeqi looked down gracefully, watching her play out her own drama, his thin lips carrying a smirk that was not quite a smile, “Such good acting, why haven’t you won an Oscar yet?”
Yan Luoxi’s breath hitched, and she glared at him venomously, “I’m happy, what are you going to do, bite me?”
A hint of amusement flickered in his eyes, “Join me for supper, hmm?”
Yan Luoxi was forced to follow his pace, not regaining her senses until the slightly cool night air rushed into the car.
She had unwittingly followed him into the car.
“Where are we going now?”
“To have supper.
Do you have a favorite restaurant?
We’ll head there now,” his low voice mixed with a hint of pleasure, resonating in the car.
Yan Luoxi pursed her lips, “I don’t want supper.
I’m very tired and want to go back to rest.”
“I’m very hungry,” his voice was rough and sensual, imbued with the depth of the night.
Yan Luoxi wished she could bite off her tongue, why was it that her intelligence failed her every time she faced this man?
She turned to look out the window, deciding to ignore him.
Li Yeqi looked at her huffed appearance: oh, the missus was angry.
Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of Chaoshan Food Stalls.
Yan Luoxi followed Li Yeqi into the lobby and immediately spotted the two people sitting by the window.
Narrowing her eyes, she thought: indeed, it’s a small world for enemies!
Li Yeqi noticed the fluctuation in her emotions and followed her gaze, his gentle features chilling a bit, “Ex-boyfriend?
Want to go say hello?”
The couple by the window was feeding each other affectionately, oblivious to the world.
Sensing her gaze, Lu Zhaoran turned his head, their eyes met, and a surge of uncontrollable emotions welled up in Yan Luoxi’s chest.
Instinctively, she reached out to hold the arm of the man beside her, lifting her head proudly like a haughty peacock, “Darling, I really love the food here, you really spoil me.”
Her voice was neither too loud nor too soft, but enough for the two by the window to hear.
The next second, she got her wish as she saw Lu Zhaoran’s face turn suddenly ashen.
Li Yeqi narrowed his eyes, his gaze darkening, he pulled his arm away, wrapping his around her waist with a deliberately low voice carrying a dangerously warning tone, “Yan Luoxi, think carefully.
Using me to provoke your ex-boyfriend would be the most foolish thing to do.”
Yan Luoxi bit her teeth, at this moment she couldn’t care less, especially with Lai Zhiyuan’s victorious demeanor burning a flame of resentment in her heart.
If she didn’t vent, she’d explode with anger.
She tiptoed up and planted a kiss on his lips, a sly sparkle in her cute face, “I know.”
She acted brazenly but had no idea what kind of price she would have to pay to appease his anger for such a challenge to his authority.
