Hearing Evan’s firm response, Jhon and the villagers were immediately taken aback. They exchanged bewildered glances, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.
"Y-Young Master..." Jhon looked Evan up and down. "Are you serious? That monster nest isn’t just inhabited by ordinary wild wolves. There are dozens of goblins and ferocious magical beasts in there! Plenty of mercenaries have fled in terror after attempting to approach that ravine."
Evan merely smiled faintly, his eyes radiating an almost icy calmness. "Don’t worry, Old Man. I’m not the kind of noble who does nothing but sit inside his mansion and collect taxes from your hard-earned labor. Protecting the village is a leader’s responsibility, isn’t it?"
Hearing those firm, authoritative words, the villagers’ eyes immediately filled with admiration and respect.
"Lady Anna certainly chose the right husband!" exclaimed the woman carrying the basket of apples, tears welling up in her eyes. "The young master truly is a brave and responsible man!"
Beside Evan, Anna stood motionless. Her crimson eyes sparkled with adoration as she gazed at her husband’s profile. Her heart swelled with a crazed sense of satisfaction.
"????... ???? ?????????????? ?????????? ???? ???????????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????? ???? ???????? ???????? ????????..." Anna thought as she gently squeezed Evan’s fingers.
"If my Husband has already made his decision, then there’s no reason to delay," Anna said sweetly to the villagers with an elegant smile. "Leave the monster nest to us. Just focus on preparing for the harvest."
"Thank you so much, Young Master! Thank you, Lady Anna!" the villagers cheered in unison, bowing their heads respectfully.
That very afternoon, without wasting any time, Evan and Anna headed toward the Eastern Forest. The trees in this area grew thicker, and the chill of night crept through the air, accompanied by the damp scent of soil and the pungent stench of rotting carcasses.
As they made their way through the undergrowth, Evan glanced at Anna, who walked calmly beside him.
"There’s something I’m curious about, Anna," Evan said, breaking the silence.
"The villagers back there..." Evan kept his gaze fixed ahead. "...They genuinely like you. I’m just curious. Do you actually care about them?"
Anna giggled brightly, her sweet laughter echoing softly among the lush trees.
"Of course I don’t care about them, Evan," Anna answered without the slightest hint of guilt. "The only human I care about in this world is you."
Evan was momentarily stunned. His steps briefly came to a halt.
Her answer was insane and obsessive, yet beneath all of Anna’s past manipulations and cruelty, her actions proved just how much effort she had put into creating a ’perfect world’ exclusively for him.
Evan shook his head slightly and smiled faintly. "You really never do anything halfway..."
"Of course not, because you’re everything to me, Husband~" Anna replied cheerfully, wrapping her arms around Evan’s.
Before long, they arrived at the edge of the Old Rocky Ravine. At the bottom of the dark ravine, surrounded by jagged rocks, several large cave entrances were visible. The deep growls of werewolves and the shrill shrieks of green-skinned goblins echoed from within.
SREEEECH!
The scent of human blood suddenly caught the monsters’ attention. From the main cave, dozens of goblins armed with rusty machetes and more than a dozen black-furred werewolves with razor-sharp coats charged out! Their yellow eyes blazed wildly as they spotted the two humans standing at the edge of the ravine.
"Let me wipe them all out with a single sweep of magic, Darling," Anna whispered, raising her finger, ready to summon a massive fire spell.
However, Evan stopped his wife’s delicate hand.
"There’s no need, Anna," Evan said calmly. He reached to his side and drew an exquisitely engraved iron sword from its scabbard. "Save your magical power. This time... let me take care of them."
Evan stepped to the edge of the ravine. He closed his eyes for a moment, regulating his breathing as he recalled the Aura techniques he had learned from Alistair Vance’s book. Follow the newest chapters on novelping . com.
BOOOOOOMMMMM!
In an instant, a brilliant crimson-gold Sword Aura surged wildly around Evan’s entire body and enveloped his blade! A tremendous pressure swept through the air, sending small rocks flying in every direction.
The goblins and werewolves abruptly halted, trembling violently beneath the overwhelming pressure emanating from a Sword Master!
Evan opened his eyes, which now gleamed gold. With a lightning-fast movement, he leaped from the cliff and plunged straight into the middle of the monster horde!
SLAAASH! BLAAR!
A sweeping arc of Aura tore through the air! The golden wave of the slash cleaved more than a dozen goblins and werewolves in half in the blink of an eye! Blood and death cries shattered the ravine’s silence.
Evan fought with extraordinary grace, agility, and lethality. Every swing of his sword was coated in Aura powerful enough to crack the ravine’s stone walls. In less than five minutes, every monster that had terrorized the village lay dead in pools of blood at his feet.
Evan wiped the blood from his sword, returned it to its scabbard, and looked up at Anna, who was standing atop the cliff.
Anna floated gracefully down and landed right in front of Evan. Her eyes sparkled with overwhelming admiration and satisfaction. Without paying any attention to the stench of blood surrounding them, she rushed forward, wrapped her arms around Evan’s neck, and planted a passionate kiss on his lips.
"You’re truly incredible, Husband... You’re so handsome!" Anna praised him, breathing heavily, her cheeks flushed.
Evan sighed. "Let’s go home. The villagers must be waiting for the good news."
