"A hundred and ten stat points and one level, not bad for a start." Luke muttered to himself as he gazed at the Codex. He would just have to double his efforts for the coming days, currently, Luke was focused on searching for were to camp for the night.
***
The moon shone bright in the sky, reflecting on the mushroom Grotto, somewhere in the dungeon, the figure of Luke approached a dark cave, using the reflection from the glistening stone shard as a torch, he navigated the surroundings.
He entered the cave, with the illumination from the Stone shard, Luke could barely see what the insides of the cave looked like, but he could make out a few mushrooms, something that looked like a broken wooden tyre, a lot of ore and that was all, he also had a feeling there had been signs of human life in this particular area, shrugging it off for the time being, without hesitation Luke proceeded to start a fire.
***
Luke sat close to the bon fire, warming himself up.
He currently faced a problem, he couldn’t decide if he should sleep or not, he had no companion to keep watch of the cave’s entrance. And his eyes had begun betraying him.
As Luke battled continuously with the force of sleep, he decided to take a short walk around the cave.
He had used the wooden tyre he saw earlier to make the bon fire, so he proceeded to check if there was anything else that served as a proof of humans existing in the cave, he walked to the other end of the cave and studied the wall.
There was nothing significant, it was covered in layers of moss and that was all.
An idea sparked in Luke’s mind, why shouldn’t he scrape the moss off, he didn’t really see a viable reason to try that out, but since he had nothing else to do, he decided to try it.
As Luke scraped the first patch of moss off the cave wall, his mind wandered back to Selene and Clara, they were all he had left in this new world.
Soon the layer of moss cluttered on the ground, to Luke’s surprise, there was something inscribed on the wall.
Luke had first assumed it was a drawing, but as he looked closer, written in blood was..
*RUN.*
Luke’s heart skipped.
"Run?"
"Why Run?"
Luke asked wondering who had wrote that there and why.. Before he could think of anything, a loud and deafening roar echoed through the dungeon, the ground itself seemed to shift.
Luke immediately turned facing the entrance of the cave, and waiting directly at the entrance of the cave, were two red glowing eyes. Luke flinched.
’What are those eyes?’
He questioned, but quickly realized it was that of a Stone Beetle, the beetle lingered for a while, still staring at Luke from the distance, then left, six legs moving in one rhythm.
Luke released a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding, ’What was it doing here, are they active at night?’ Luke asked himself, wondering what could have made such a loud roar, and what caused a stone beetle to appear at the front of his cave, as if answering his question, there was a sudden vibration, the cave shook, ore that once stood still, danced on the ground..
Luke’s instincts screamed as the cave itself vibrated, his gazed turned to the burning bon fire, that might have told whatever was causing the vibration his current location, he rushed towards his bag which he had kept a few feet from the fire, he opened it and immediately used the remnant of water in the flask to put the fire out.
Smoke oozed from the fire to the ceiling, as the last of the fire was extinguished. The vibration continued getting closer and closer, Luke walked to the entrance and decided to take a look, gazing towards the direction were he had assumed the sound was coming from.
Luke’s demeanor turned cold as notifications flooded his vision...
[Stone Beetle] ( Level 4 ( HP : 50/50)
[Stone Beetle] ( Level 4 ( HP : 50/50)
[Stone Beetle] ( Level 4 ( HP : 50/50)
[Stone Beetle] ( Level 4 ( HP : 50/50)...
Far ahead, dozens upon dozens of the Stone Beetles moved towards a particular direction, The vibrations he had heard, came from the sounds their feet made as they rushed forward without pause.
’What had caused their movements?’ ’Had they finally realized that a human was in the dungeon and they all decided to attack together?’
Luke knew his speculation was wrong as they were heading to a separate direction.
As Luke deliberated more, a grotesque void creature tore from their midst as if it had burrowed from under ground itself, a number of stone beetles flew sideways, mushrooms didn’t simply crash, they flew out of its range and afterwards came a primal roar.
The whole dungeon shook and Luke’s expression that had been cold and calculating became grim. Appearing in the field of his vision was..
[Iron Ape] ( Level 7 ( HP : 90/90)..
Luke’s Face went pale, what had caused the iron ape to sense his location?
Was it the fire?
Was it smell or was it fear, as unlike the Stone beetles that were herding towards another direction, the iron ape was coming straight for the cave with frightening speed.
