Naruto: A Lazy Life

-One month later-

Pov: Obito Uchiha

And... done! I smile at my notes and nod my head- I should put this up on my wall so I can practice every night, I need to get these hand signs down quickly.

"Did everyone get these down?" Sensei calls out and I glance to the sleeping Takumi next to me.

... should I copy my notes for him?

I slowly put my hand over to his empty paper but he flicks my hand away.

*Flick!*

"Ow-" I whisper and pull my hand back.

"I heard his descriptions. I am not in need of your notes" Takumi yawns out and promptly falls back asleep.

... okay, I probably should focus on myself then.

"Oh- Obito you got the 'Ram' sign wrong, it's meant to look like this" Rin corrects my paper and I smile awkwardly.

"The rest look good though" She smiles at me.

"You think so?" I blush a little and turn my head so she doesn't see.

"Of course!" Rin clasps her hands and I smile warmly.

"Kakashi-san you are not taking notes either?" Rin asks as she turns her head behind us.

"I am also not in need of notes" He says with bored eyes.

Damned Kakashi- trying to act cool.

"Hn" Takumi makes an agreeable sound.

Is he even awake? How did he hear that..?

"Hm- I don't need these notes either, I remember it all" I ball up my paper and cross my arms.

"Obito, you shouldn't-" Rin is cut off by Takumi taking a deep breath and talking.

"Hatake. Tell me about chakra and its use to enhance ones body, is yang energy and training enough to increase ones physical might or is chakra needed for a permanent enhancement to ones strength- or is chakra only used for temporary boosts, if so would that temporary boost be seen commonly in taijutsu techniques and would it be acceptable to see them in something like the Acadamy standard taijutsu?" Takumi looks up and asks Kakashi.

Woah what? That's the biggest sentence I have heard from him and it is about homework?

"...temporary boosts are common but often not important to the point of disregarding them and shaping the taijutsu around yourself... training is enough for Acadamy level" Kakashi replies.

"Hn. So I need to..." Takumi lowers his gaze to under the desk and mumbles something... is he writing something under there?

I lower my head and look under the desk... I see multiple drawings of taijutsu poses.

He glances in my direction for a moment and then places his head down on the desk... and now I know he isn't sleeping at all! Hah!

"Obito pay attention!" Sensei yells out and I straighten my back, why is Takumi never picked on anymore?

-That night-

Pov: Takumi Uchiha.

"Please! You have to help me!" Obito bows before me as I sit at my dining room table.

"Why? You took notes didn't you?" I ask.

"I'm sorry for being a fool- but you have to help me!" Obito repeats with his head down.

"Why not ask Rin?" I say as I take a bite of tofu from my plate.

"You know why! I spill so many secrets in front of you!" He begs again.

"That... was my point" I glance to my caretaker who is very focused on a bunch of papers that lay upon the table.

"What do you mean?" He asks.

"Never mind- you eaten dinner yet? Go keep your caretaker or grandmother company" I shoo.

"I have eaten and she is sleeping!" He smiles.

"Haaa... no" I state and shift my body back to my food.

"Noooooo!" Obito cries out.

"Takumi be less mean" My caretaker says.

"No- also thank you for the meal" I refuse him and leave the table.

It is quite odd to talk back to my elders and get away with it... then again he is so busy that he couldn't possibly have the time to care about my bad habits.

Entering into my room I look to my bed and begin to-

"I'll do anything!" Obito follows me.

"Anything?" I ask.

"Of course!" He insists.

I do need someone to ask questions for me in class... I just can't get the baseline of what makes 'taijutsu' in this world- I have made many close combat blade techniques before but that however was based on a different power system entirely.

I also talked too much during class today and if it had been a little quieter the teacher would have heard me and revitalised his efforts into teaching me.

"Then if I help you... you will be my puppet- my helpful ally and ask questions I need answered during class" I tell him.

"That's fine- I just have to learn the hand signs by tomorrow!" Obito nods his head.

By tomorrow? Boy this child is ambitious... then again so was I. Must be because he is jealous of the Hatake boy.

"Show me what you remember and we can go from there" I say.

"Alright- so this is ram-" I cut him off mid manoeuvre.

"No, that was boar- are you sure you are capable of learning every sign by tomorrow? You do have to sleep in another hour" I tell him.

...

"But- but-" Obito starts to visibly panic.

I pull out my notebook from my jacket and flip it open to an empty page, I start writing and drawing on it. After a few moments I rip the page out and hand it to him.

"Nobody is going to care if you have none memorized by tomorrow- just take this guide and practice until perfect, easy as that" I tell him and shake my head.

He reads over the page and I place the notebook back and then take off my jacket to hang near my door- I already having bathed and gotten a new set of pyjamas on, promptly head into bed.

"Hey- what is in this thing? Why did you write my name on the front?" Obito asks.

"To frame you with it- don't touch or look, if you do I will draw false signs in your notes and make a fool out of you when you try to perform them in front of Rin" I calmly state and Obito places the book back without a second thought.

"Thanks! I will see you tomorrow!" He shouts and leaves the room, slamming the door closed behind him.

..?

Good, he is gone- I get out of bed and grab my notebook out again, before heading to my desk that I ensure looks unused at all times.

I flip to the most recently filled page of writing and go over my notes.

I can see why the academy teaches this to the students in Konoha- I had underestimated how good it was before... and yet again I could not tell the difference between it and something worse.

Tch- a flaw I must correct.

I should fix the mistake I made on the foundational footwork and re-work this entire thing... I may be going overboard with this but every step needs to line up and be perfect for a technique of my standards.

If I integrate some of my eight cunning jabs footwork into this we can make it more aggressive... but that would mean the user would lose the stance of defence and be unable to jump backwards for ninjutsu use.

But on the other hand the eight cunning jabs technique would improve the aggressiveness and cut off any attempts to flee from the enemy.

... maybe I should involve a stance shift into this? Make it so the user can change his battle tactics depending on the situation?

But then it would lose it's simplistic and effective advantage.

Simple is always better- scratch that footwork change and think of something else... I shouldn't try to mix it up then... something evasive or defensive then.

Evasion being the forefront of course...

... I would have finished this by now if I wasn't so focused on theory, just one training session and I would have felt the flaws and removed them instantly.

Haaa- if only we were not at war... the second I start training is the second that I am eligible for combat in the villages eyes.

I just need to get past the academy without graduating and I am home free to train as much as I want without any of the responsibility of using that power.

But for now... how do I train? I cannot hide this itch for long- I know myself too well and while I have successfully slept my way through early childhood I am a growing child who gains more and more energy by the day.

Not in the open- I have had way too many 'lucky coincidences' in my past life to let something like my sensei accidentally walking by the forest and seeing me to happen.

Not here- my caretaker would hear me.

So where is a private area and has no one to suddenly surprise me?

I could... mask it as something else if there is no single area where I can work on my renewed academy style... so if someone does drop by I can just say I was doing something else entirely.

Hmmm... I have a few ideas for this technique so I will worry about this later-

The start of this taijutsu is the opening attack/defensive manoeuvre- often this manoeuvre will be performed in which two ninja clash and their blades meet.

Then they break away... it is at this point that separate taijutsu, ninjutsu or genjutsu is used as the academy style can not do much more beyond that.

I could use the other hand they aren't using in this technique... but that requires holding two kunai at once and using them in quick succession which would be tricky for beginners like children.

So... Kunai slash and block- while the other arm attacks? That arm needs to do something... it does reinforce the blocking arm... but I am one hundred percent sure about switching the block with something more smooth.

Like an attack that is meant to force the enemy back, so one smooth hit- no break off between enemies and a way to break your enemy before the block.

Essentially removing an opportunity for the enemy and gaining one for yourself.

So a quick strike would replace the offensive block... skipping to the break.

The quick strike should include the second hand attacking as well... lets make that attack up to interpretation as the type of attack may change on the target.

Some suggestions would be:

- Light and small target: Grapple attack.

- Heavy and huge target: Destabilizing attack.

Then next comes the break.

In which this gets complicated... usually I would add hundreds of manoeuvre's to master this style of combat and then gain an upper hand in any scenario... but this is for children.

I need to dumb it down... while I also perfect it.

...

for now I will stop- and just work on the first attack, make better suggestions and see if I can quicken the initial flicker that initiates the style- in the mean time I will stick to just theory, I do not wish to push too hard by practicing. Especially this early.

I finish up my brainstorming for the night after another hour of thinking and head towards my bed after placing my notebook and desk back into place.

Pov: Elder Takumi Uchiha.

...

I silently leave my grandchild's room having placed the notebook labelled under Obito's name back into place.

It is strange to erase my own presence when sneaking around Takumi... but after finding that book a few nights ago while he was being dragged around by Obito I began to keep an eye on him.

Making sure that nothing was out of place and using all my skill to stay silent.

After all... my grandchild is a prodigious boy and I don't want to scare him back into his shell.

Who would have thought... that the lazy child would see the academy taijutsu and spend hours every night working on it- in fact improving upon it... the depictions of taijutsu are impressively... perfect.

As if he just knows how a taijutsu move should be performed- and- my most favourite thing...

... Pages 1 - 25 are labelled 'First Draft' in which he removes seven flaws from the taijutsu and improves upon three of its main stances... he calls that a 'draft'.

His second draft in what he is working on now takes the taijutsu in sudden and surprising directions that make the taijutsu a brand new style entirely and something much better than some academy level stuff.

Yet he never finishes those... and calls it a failure when I can see those taijutsu directions flourish into B-rank or A-rank level taijutsu...

It's... miraculous, he writes so cleanly and breaks down the entirety of the taijutsu upon only witnessing one demonstration in class? Could he just steal taijutsu secrets from all over in the future?

And then- he makes multiple varying and brilliant taijutsu that cleanly flow before calling them failures... and you can see where he picks apart those 'failures' and applies what did help to the basics of the academy.

Keeping them simple so the children can learn... giving room to grow but expanding on the techniques so that if the children wants... they can become a taijutsu powerhouse on one style alone.

And that last note- 'find a place to test these out- theory is far too impractical and some tests will speed this up tenfold'

...

He has a talent for perception. For taijutsu... for perfection.

Like all other Uchiha he excels... so why does he wish to sleep all the time!? Why hide this book and write someone else's name on it? It makes no sense... why doesn't he wish to be a ninja like his parents? Like me? Like this villages heroes!

Perhaps... he has too much talent for perception and can see through the propaganda that others cannot.

...

Should I confront him..? Ask him why?

Bah! I helped solve a border dispute this morning and now I can't confront my own grandson!?

I will clear my schedule tomorrow afternoon and confront him about this, he cannot hide away forever, not in this village... not when so many children are being sent to war.

Thanks for reading! :)
