He had originally thought that the level of the item dropped would depend on the level of the enemy defeated.
However, the system dealt him a heavy blow; what dropped depended entirely on what the other person possessed.
Even if he defeated a Jonin, if that Jonin’s physical strength was only at the Genin level…
…then even if he obtained a physical strength reward, he would only receive a Genin-level reward.
So, this thing really came down to luck.
Fortunately, Uchiha Nan wasn’t someone with terrible luck in his past life; otherwise, he’d be in tears.
After Uchiha Nan figured out the system, he looked toward the only person in the square he hadn’t defeated yet.
“Hey, Uchiha Tekka, it’s your turn.
Your legs haven’t gone weak, have they?”
“What are you talking about, you bastard?”
At this moment, Uchiha Tekka had long lost his previous composure.
He knew he was bound to lose against this monster.
But even if he lost, he couldn’t disgrace the Uchiha name.
If he was going to lose, he would lose standing tall.
He tried his best to appear calm as he walked to the center of the square.
Facing Uchiha Nan, he prepared himself to endure a storm-like assault: “Come on!”
Uchiha Nan wasn’t in a hurry to finish his opponent.
Instead, he formed the Seal of Confrontation.
“You are an opponent with courage and talent.
You deserve my respect.”
Uchiha Tekka was stunned for a moment, then revealed a happy smile and returned the Seal of Confrontation.
“You’re not so annoying after all.”
Uchiha Nan tensed his body and accelerated toward Uchiha Tekka.
As he ran, he observed the other’s movements.
He saw Uchiha Tekka take several Kunai from his Ninja pouch.
They were thrown toward the spot where he was about to step.
Uchiha Nan gathered Chakra at the soles of his feet and forced himself to a halt.
He changed direction to continue his attack, only to find that several more Kunai from Uchiha Tekka’s hand were already in front of him.
Uchiha Nan smiled slightly and quickly pulled out the Kunai he had drawn yesterday from the tool pouch Sister Mikoto had prepared.
Calming his mind and focusing his spirit on a single point, he concentrated all his Chakra into his arm.
He quickly struck out at the incoming Kunai.
Clang, clang, clang—amidst the sounds of collision…
…three Kunai were knocked to the ground by Uchiha Nan.
Before he could breathe a sigh of relief, Uchiha Tekka had already charged forward with a Kunai in hand.
What impressive control over the rhythm, Uchiha Nan thought to himself.
Clang!
The two Kunai collided.
Uchiha Nan twisted his Kunai, catching the blade against the one Uchiha Tekka held tightly, and with a sudden burst of strength, he flicked it away.
He followed up with a Chakra-infused front kick right to Uchiha Tekka’s abdomen, sending him flying backward.
Uchiha Tekka fell to the ground, his stomach writhing in pain, but he still forced himself to endure it.
Supporting himself with one hand, a large black footprint marking his white clothes, he stood up unsteadily.
If he hadn’t managed to coat his stomach with Chakra in that split second…
…that kick would have likely ruptured his intestines.
Now that his weapons were gone and he had no strength left to fight, he could only concede defeat helplessly.
“You win.”
Uchiha Nan walked over and supported the struggling Uchiha Tekka.
“You’re very strong.
If you hadn’t run into me, no one here would be your match.
How about it?
Want to follow me?”
Uchiha Nan’s desire to recruit Uchiha Tekka was just a spur-of-the-moment idea.
After all, if he wanted to take control of the Uchiha, he couldn’t do it alone; he would need supporters.
And Uchiha Tekka had good talent and a Jonin father, making him a worthy target to win over.
“Forget it.
Enrollment for the Ninja Academy is about to start.
Once school begins, I won’t have much time to play around outside.”
“Oh, suit yourself.”
Uchiha Nan wasn’t angry at the refusal.
After all, it was just a casual suggestion, and he hadn’t expected immediate success.
He was only six years old; it was still early, and there would be plenty of opportunities in the future.
He simply turned around and walked toward his house.
On the way home, he was still considering: should he go to the Ninja Academy?
He needed battles to grow stronger, and he had already dealt with most of his peers in the Uchiha Clan.
The rest were those he couldn’t beat yet.
To find more opponents to defeat, the Ninja Academy would be a good place.
But at the mere thought of “school,” he got a massive headache.
After all, if he had been able to study well in his past life, he wouldn’t have become a mercenary.
It was a troublesome choice.
Uchiha Nan returned home, opened the fridge, and had a simple bowl of instant noodles.
Only then did he check the reward for defeating Uchiha Tekka: I hope you don’t disappoint me. New chapters come out on g.com first.
Defeated Uchiha Tekka.
Reward: Sharingan bloodline (Pending Collection).
“Sharingan!” Uchiha Nan gasped, instantly becoming excited.
A Bloodline Limit had actually dropped!
This was the first Kekkei Genkai he had obtained.
This meant that since he could get the Sharingan, things like Ice Release or Wood Release might also be obtainable.
They could even be fused into Kekkei Tota, Kekkei Mora, and so on.
This provided Uchiha Nan with new power on his path to becoming the King of the Ninja World.
Uchiha Nan clicked to extract it.
A strange sensation flowed through his entire body, as if a recessive bloodline hidden within him had been activated.
His eyes also felt a bit itchy, as if he had already awakened the Sharingan.
Excited, Uchiha Nan ran to a full-length mirror and opened his eyes to look closely.
His pupils were still black and hadn’t turned blood-red.
It seemed this Kekkei Genkai was just a Kekkei Genkai.
It could only strengthen the Uchiha lineage within his body; it couldn’t directly help him awaken his eyes.
He still had to follow the principle of needing a stimulus to awaken them.
But hadn’t the original owner suffered enough stimulus?
Even then, he hadn’t awakened them.
Now, even if the bloodline was strengthened and it became easier…
…how would he awaken them in this parentless Ninja World?
However, Uchiha Nan quietly sensed his own condition.
He could feel a longing emanating from his Sharingan bloodline.
It seemed that if he obtained a few more Kekkei Genkai, he would be able to awaken the Sharingan.
Uchiha Nan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
It was just a Kekkei Genkai; in the worst case, he would just have to beat up more Uchiha Clan Members later—he’d get it eventually.
Now that his Chakra capacity had also reached the Genin level, it meant he could practice Ninjutsu.
Following the memories in his mind, Uchiha Nan went to the attic and opened a small hidden compartment.
From it, he took out over a dozen Ninja Scrolls.
These were relics he had accidentally found while cleaning his parents’ room.
They ranged from the basic Substitution Jutsu to B-rank Ninjutsu.
They must have been left by the original owner’s parents to prevent a situation where…
…no one was there to help their child become a Ninja if something happened to them.
They were a precious inheritance.
Now, all of it benefited Uchiha Nan.
He gently opened a scroll and began practicing, starting from the most basic Substitution Jutsu.
