“If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t be losing this war…”
Orochimaru’s gaze grew increasingly cold; Deidara had undoubtedly left a dark stain on his nearly perfect record.
“Then what should we do?”
Danzo Shimura was no longer in the mood to continue arguing with Orochimaru; he also desperately wanted to deal with this genius from Iwagakure as quickly as possible.
He could see that the person on the opposite side controlling the long-range explosions was even younger than Orochimaru, which in Danzo Shimura’s eyes, undoubtedly made him a genius.
“There’s nothing we can do for now…
Let’s ask the Village; perhaps the situation with Sunagakure has already been resolved.”
Orochimaru’s attitude was clear; he wanted to seek reinforcements from the Village.
Unless he had no other choice, Orochimaru would absolutely not ask the Village for help, as doing so would be seen as a sign of incompetence on his part.
But if he didn’t seek help, once the defensive line here was broken by Iwagakure, an even larger blemish would appear on his record.
Neither option was good for him, but Orochimaru could only choose between the two.
In fact, their goal on this side was to stall Iwagakure; once Konoha completely crushed Sunagakure, people would come to help Orochimaru and the others defeat Iwagakure.
After all, the clearly stronger main forces were all at Sunagakure, where Tsunade, Jiraiya, and the White Fang of the Leaf, Sakumo Hatake, were stationed, along with the majority of the Ninja main army.
Sunagakure’s defeat was only a matter of time; as long as nothing went wrong on Orochimaru’s end, Sunagakure was like fish on a chopping board.
“I will personally write a letter to Hiruzen.”
Danzo Shimura didn’t plan to keep arguing with Orochimaru either, intending instead to inform Hiruzen Sarutobi of the situation first.
“Then I must thank the Shimura Clan Head.”
Orochimaru’s cold gaze softened slightly as he nodded toward Danzo Shimura.
Danzo Shimura nodded and then began writing the letter to Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Before long, Danzo Shimura’s letter was finished, though its exact contents remained unknown.
Even Orochimaru shot a surprised glance at Danzo Shimura.
It was for no other reason than the fact that Danzo Shimura had written it incredibly fast, without any hesitation at all; this was supposed to be for the Hokage’s eyes, yet Danzo Shimura treated it like a memo for a subordinate.
There was no deliberation whatsoever, and given the speed of the writing, the calligraphy likely wasn’t much to look at either.
“Deliver this letter.”
Danzo Shimura, seemingly unaware of his haste, handed the letter directly to a Root member behind him.
The Root member bowed respectfully and then left with Danzo Shimura’s letter for Konoha Village.
The Next Day
Iwagakure Camp
“Come on, Deidara, we’ll do whatever you say!”
The members of the Explosion Release Squad all gathered before Deidara, each filled with intense fighting spirit.
“First, introduce yourselves; I need to at least get to know all of you!”
Deidara looked at the members of the Explosion Release Squad; aside from Gari, whom he knew from the anime, and Kari, whom he already knew, he didn’t recognize any of the others.
In the original work, these people had never appeared at all, so Deidara had no impression of them.
A middle-aged man of average height who looked rather cold spoke up.
“My name is Gan!”
A middle-aged man who looked stern and humorless said.
“I am Fuku, thank you for teaching us!”
This was a young man who looked to be around the same age as Deidara.
“I am Shi, please look after me!”
This person looked about the same age as Fuku, and their names were sequential; they even looked like a pair of twins.
“Are you two…
twins?”
Deidara looked at Shi and Fuku and asked with some curiosity.
“Yes, we were abandoned as children; as for our names, they came from the orphanage and consist of only a single character.”
Shi replied.
In fact, most children from orphanages had names with one or two characters, though usually just one.
Just like Yakushi Kabuto; if Yakushi Nono hadn’t given him the surname Yakushi, his name would have just been Kabuto.
“I am Sajin, I’ll be counting on your guidance from now on, Deidara!”
A very sturdy-looking middle-aged man spoke with a smile.
“I am Sekido, a member of the Explosion Release Squad.”
This person was the oldest in the squad, looking to be in his fifties, but his strength was likely the greatest in the Explosion Release Squad after Gari.
“Kari!”
Kari said a single word; Deidara already knew him, so he didn’t waste any words.
“I am Gari, the captain of the Explosion Release Squad, and Kari is my brother!”
Gari mentioned Kari in passing during his introduction.
Deidara wasn’t surprised; after all, their names were sequential and they shared a seventy percent resemblance.
It didn’t shock him at all that they were brothers.
“Since you’ve all finished your introductions, I’ll introduce myself as well.”
“My name is Deidara, sixteen years old, recently promoted to Jonin, previously stationed at the border.”
Deidara said as he looked at the members of the Explosion Release Squad.
“You were sent to the border with an ability like that?
That’s such a waste!”
Fuku couldn’t help but exclaim.
“That’s not it; I only developed my Explosion Release a few days ago.
Before that, I was just an ordinary Tokubetsu Jonin.”
“And as soon as I developed this Explosion Release, Lord Tsuchikage summoned me immediately.”
Deidara waved his hand; he wasn’t some unappreciated talent.
Moreover, Iwagakure didn’t require the same level of internal scheming as Konoha; Ōnoki was probably desperate for someone to inherit his mantle as Tsuchikage.
“Is that so?
Then the Village officials aren’t completely blind!”
Hearing Deidara say this, Fuku nodded, seemingly accepting the Village’s actions.
Deidara clicked his tongue at Fuku’s remark; this guy really dared to speak his mind, acting as if he didn’t care about Ōnoki at all.
However, he had the right to be arrogant; after all, he looked to be in his early twenties and already had the strength of a Jonin.
He would definitely become an Elite Jonin in the future, and Ōnoki wouldn’t do anything to him just for a few loose words.
“You need to control your Chakra with extreme precision, then use that control to infuse your Explosion Release into the clay, and finally detonate it with Lightning Release!”
Deidara gave only a general explanation; it was difficult to describe the exact method of infusion.
But giving a vague answer didn’t matter much since everyone present was from the Explosion Release Squad; even if they failed, they wouldn’t blow themselves up.
That’s why Deidara dared to let them try.
For anyone else, a ‘try’ would absolutely mean ‘death’.
“The better your control, the more varieties of Clay Bombs you can create, and the stronger their power will be!”
“Alright, enough talk.
Everyone, give it a try.
Try to mold one following my example!”
After Deidara finished speaking, he molded a simple Clay Bomb.
This was the simplest type of Clay Bomb; anyone with talent could surely mold it.
However, if they weren’t cut out for it, the step of precisely controlling the infusion of Explosion Release into the clay would already signal their failure.
Hope you will understand and I really loved that previous name BTW.
