Ren turned fourteen in the quiet sanctuary of the Mist-Veil Valleys.

His height had stretched out, his posture grew lean and grounded, and his once-fragile chakra pathways had fully healed into tight, efficient channels.

He sat atop an elevated watch post at the edge of the valley, adjusting the straps of his grey Kazeshira cloak.Full novel: Naruto: Reincarnated Half-Blood’s Simulation System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Beside him lay a small, unadorned leather kit containing five steel kunai, three smoke pellets, and a single roll of standard bandages.

When he had first taken over this body, the original boy’s physical state, chakra, and potential were utterly pathetic—a sickly, starving orphan driven to the brink of collapse.

But the fusion of two distinct souls had provided a subtle, baseline spark.

Merging his modern spirit with the host’s lingering life force gave his chakra pool a modest, permanent boost.

He wasn’t an Uchiha prodigy with endless reserves, but his overall energy had stabilized from downright pitiful to a respectable, average level.

He had enough fuel to sustain prolonged skirmishes, provided he didn’t waste it on grand, flashy techniques.

What truly set him apart was how he paired this decent chakra pool with surgical efficiency.

Through two solid years of grueling conditioning under Elder Gen, Ren had completely eliminated the reliance on active chakra forcing.

His Kazeshira skin now operated like a passive, organic barometer.

Every subtle eddy of air, every localized shift in temperature, and every atmospheric ripple produced by a moving body within a hundred-yard radius registered naturally in his mind—costing him zero energy.

He stopped beside Ren, looking out over the wall of thick, white sea mist shielding their home.

“Reports from our northern patrols are clear,” Gen said softly, his blind eyes fixed on the horizon.

“The Senju and Uchiha have consolidated their lines.

Smaller clans are being swallowed or crushed in the center.

The valley remains hidden, but our trade routes to the southern markets are completely severed.”

“We need iron, salt, and medical herbs,” Ren replied, his voice calm and even.

“The winter will hit the lower camp hard if the supplies don’t come through.”

“I am sending a four-man reconnaissance unit to the border towns near the Fire Capital,” Gen said, placing a weathered hand on Ren’s shoulder.

“You will lead the vanguard scout position.

Your task is simple: detect patrols, avoid open combat, and clear a blind corridor for our supply runners.”

Ren stood up, tying his hair back into a short knot.

“Remember, Ren,” Gen warned, his grip tightening slightly.

“You are our eye, not our sword.

If you encounter a full war-party of Uchiha or Senju, you run.

A dead scout sees nothing.”

And a dead simulation yields no extracted attributes, Ren added silently.

Ten minutes later, Ren leapt off the wooden watch post, gliding silently through the foggy canopy alongside three elder Kazeshira scouts.

As they crossed out of the Mist-Veil boundary and pushed south into the war-torn territories, Ren extended his awareness.

The wind rushed over his exposed skin, whispering details of distant footsteps, shifting branches, and the cold, metallic scent of iron weapons waiting in the dark.

His training was over.

The real test of survival had begun.
