“Minato‑sensei!”
Obito jumped up excitedly.
“Add another bowl with beef!
You’re treating, right?”
Minato glanced at Yuu with an apologetic smile.
“Got caught sneaking Kakashi extra portions, huh?
Sure, I’ll get one more.
Hope you don’t mind?”
That last line was for Yuu.
“Not at all.
My brother can be quite a handful.”
This was Yuu’s first time meeting Minato in person — though he’d seen him plenty before, in his old world.
“Not at all.
Obito shows great promise — clearly you’ve had a hand in that.”
Yuu smiled to himself.
The future Fourth Hokage really did have a way with words, and carried himself with a warmth that put people at ease.
Worth writing down.
> [Record: Truly the Fourth Hokage in the making.
So polite — and I feel not a trace of suspicion or dislike toward the Uchiha in him.
This is what true nobility looks like.]

Minato and Kakashi sat down.
Obito squeezed Kakashi aside eagerly.
“Sensei!
Why didn’t Rin come?”
Kakashi huffed.
“After you two finished training today,” Minato explained gently, “Kakashi wanted to keep practicing.
So I stayed with him — and lost track of time.
Rin’s probably at home.”
“Aw…” Obito’s face fell.
Thwack!
Yuu tapped him sharply on the head.
“Take a leaf out of Kakashi’s book.
Look how hard he works.”
He turned to Kakashi, his tone sincere.
“Kakashi — you may not know me, but I once served under the White Fang.
I want you to know: I don’t think your father was wrong to save his team over his mission.
I admire him for it.”
Kakashi froze mid‑bite, staring up in shock.
Everyone in Konoha called Sakumo Hatake a disgrace, a stain on the shinobi profession.
But this Uchiha — someone he didn’t even know — was praising him.
There was no mockery in his voice, only respect.
“Hmph.
He was wrong.”
Kakashi stuffed another mouthful of ramen in, but his eyes glistened.
For the first time, someone outside his teacher had stood up for his father.

Minato had heard every word.
He studied Yuu carefully — this Uchiha was nothing like the cold, unyielding stereotype.
Even as Jiraiya’s student, Minato had never dared say openly that Sakumo had been right — yet he valued his comrades just as deeply.
He glanced at Obito, too.
Perhaps the boy’s bright, earnest spirit came from his brother’s influence.
Minato found himself liking Uchiha Yuu more and more.
He ordered extra beef for both Obito and Kakashi.
Back Home
Yuu watched Obito pat his full belly and pick his teeth with a satisfied grin, and felt a twinge of annoyance.
Greedy little glutton.
“Get up and meditate with me — help your body digest your food.”
At his brother’s words, Obito replied instinctively: “No way… I’m exhausted today.”
“That’s exactly why you should train.
It’ll help you draw out more spirit‑aligned chakra.
You do want to outshine Kakashi in front of Rin tomorrow, don’t you?”
Yuu had let slip how to cultivate more Yin‑attribute chakra.
Obito hadn’t heard a single word before that last line — the thought of impressing Rin by beating Kakashi snapped him fully alert.
“Y’know what?
You’re right, brother.
Digestion’s important.”
Yuu couldn’t help flicking him hard on the forehead.
“Ow!
What was that for?” Obito asked, thoroughly confused.
“Nothing — slipped.
Pure reflex.
Now focus, we start training.”
Yuu turned his back, holding back the urge to scold him further.
> [Record: Obito lights up the second Rin is mentioned.
She really is his whole world.
This sappy, earnest devotion has to be corrected.]

A short while later, Obito’s stomach gave a loud gurgle.
He whispered: “Brother… I think I’m hungry again.”
Yuu frowned and said nothing, but opened his system journal in his mind.

Is he faking it?]

“Brother… are we keeping going?”
“I’ll meditate a little longer.
Just tell me — how did Minato‑sensei test you today?”
Obito perked right up.
“We had no idea someone ranked chunin could move that fast!
He made us stand in a circle and try to grab the bells on him — we couldn’t touch him once.
In the end, he moved so fast he slipped and dropped one on the ground.
That’s the only reason we passed!”
Hearing how easily Minato had outmaneuvered them, Yuu compared it to his own skill.
Even with his heightened senses and reflexes, Yuu knew he could never dodge three people in such a tight space.
Minato’s speed was only part of what he’d shown.

“Generating… it didn’t pop up right away.
That’s odd.”
Yuu wondered if the system was glitching.
“Brother… why are you pushing yourself so hard all of a sudden?
Are you taking on some dangerous mission?”
“Don’t be ridiculous.
As a proud Uchiha, shouldn’t I strive to get stronger and keep our name as the finest clan in Konoha?”
The question gave Yuu pause, though.
Would his sudden dedication draw ROOT’s eye?
Would they think he’d spotted them?

Will they guess I know they’re there?]
