For the Uchiha Ryuu of old, this would have been a death sentence.

But now?

Now he had a cheat code — and he didn’t spare these two even a glance.Full novel: Naruto: Starting With Rinnegan — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Hey kid — why’d you stop running?

Given up already?” One of the chunin sneered, a cruel, cold smile curling his lips.

“Hiba — he’s an Uchiha.

Don’t get careless,” the other frowned sharply.

The Uchiha’s Sharingan was feared across the world.

Even a genin was not to be underestimated — who knew if he had awakened it?

Or if it would flare to life mid‑fight?

Iwagakure’s latest reports told of another Uchiha boy who had suddenly unlocked the Sharingan right here at Kannabi Bridge, cutting down many foes.

They would not make that mistake twice.

“Earth Release: Earth Spear!”

For all his bold words, Hiba took Ryuu no less seriously.

He slammed his hands together and shouted.

Hiss!

Hiss!

Hiss!

Sharp stone spikes jutted up all around Ryuu, boxing him in completely.

It was a formidable technique — one Kurotsuchi had once used to shatter Naruto’s Shadow Clones.

For a genin, escape seemed impossible.

Even the Body Flicker would not get him out in time.

After all, a genin simply could not match a chunin in standard ninjutsu exchanges.

But Ryuu needed no Body Flicker.

He shifted his gaze — and the Rinnegan blazed to life.

A surge of repulsion lifted him clean off the ground, suspending him in mid‑air.

“Wha… what is this?!”

Both men stared, dumbfounded.

An Uchiha… flying?

Could he be using the Tsuchikage’s Ultra‑Lightweight Rock Technique?

“Almighty Pull!”

Before they could make sense of it, Ryuu reached out with his right hand and curled his fingers.

A crushing force of suction seized them both, dragging them helplessly toward him.

Thwip!

Thwip!

Two long black rods pierced straight through their hearts, stopping them dead right before his eyes.

They died with eyes wide, filled with utter disbelief — two chunin, cut down in an instant by a single genin.

“The Rinnegan truly lives up to its name… took them down without effort.”

Ryuu drifted back down to earth, murmuring in awe.

But a quick check of his own condition made him frown.

“Just two chunin… one Almighty Pull… two black rods… and it cost me nearly twenty percent of my chakra?!”

The drain was far heavier than he had expected.

At this rate, he would not last long in a real fight.

“That can’t be right… I’m an Uchiha — the Rinnegan should fit me perfectly.

I shouldn’t suffer like Nagato did… no, the eyes work fine.

The problem is me — I’m still just a genin.

My chakra reserves are far too small.”

It clicked at last.

He had the ultimate power, but barely enough fuel to run it.

“Thought I’d be unstoppable by the Shippuden era… guess I was getting ahead of myself.

For now… play it safe.

Lay low and grow stronger.”

He judged his strength well enough: he could handle a jonin with ease, but a Kage‑level foe?

He would not be confident — not with this little chakra.

With his mind made up, Ryuu tossed the two bodies aside and wove a quick Transformation Jutsu — shifting his appearance completely.

Then he headed back toward the fight.

He could not simply abandon Shisui.

The village knew Shisui had led this search party; if Shisui fell and Ryuu returned alone, questions would never end.

And truth be told… he was itching to see what the Rinnegan could really do.

He would hang back — if Shisui prevailed, he would stay hidden.

If things turned grim… he would step in from the shadows.

Always keeping himself safe first.

When he arrived, the battle was all but decided.

Konoha’s side was devastated: aside from Shisui and Kakashi, everyone else lay dead.

Kakashi was badly wounded and held captive by two Iwagakure ninja.

He had Obito’s Sharingan now — but it was still fresh, and he had no idea how to use it.

Even if he did, the gap in power was simply too great.

Shisui, meanwhile, had split into four perfect copies, standing at all four points, facing Han down.

“Shisui of the Body Flicker… you live up to your name,” Han said with genuine respect.

He had fought this long and still had not found the real one.
