Ryuu gasped for breath, his mind reeling in shock.
He hurriedly popped a military ration pill into his mouth, the small measure bringing him a sliver of relief.
“Once we’re back in Konoha, I have to train like crazy — I need to boost my chakra reserves as fast as possible.
This is ridiculous; having a cheat and not being able to use it properly.”
While Ryuu was lost in his thoughts, everyone else stood frozen, utterly stunned.
Konoha and Iwa ninja alike stared upward, eyes wide, murmuring at the massive sphere hanging in the sky.
To them, tailed beasts were the ultimate power in the world.
Once a jinchūriki transformed, no ordinary shinobi could hope to stand against them — save for another jinchūriki.
Who could have imagined that Han, the Five‑Tails Jinchūriki, would be sealed away by a technique no one had ever seen before?
It was beyond terrifying.
SWISH!
Before the two Iwa ninja holding Kakashi could even blink, Shisui was there — and Kakashi was gone.
Shisui then activated his Body Flicker, splitting into four copies that darted through the enemy ranks with blinding speed.
Screams rang out as Iwa ninja fell one after another.
The few survivors who remained fled in terror; Shisui did not give chase.
“Shisui… what was that technique?” Kakashi asked, still shaken.
Shisui shook his head, just as bewildered.
“I do not know.
But it was unlike anything I have ever seen — truly dreadful.”
They spoke only briefly before getting to work, checking the battlefield for Konoha survivors and searching for the mysterious ally who had saved them.
No trace of that figure remained.
But they did find the only two others who had made it through: Uchiha Ryuu and Rin Nohara.
The rest of the journey passed without incident, and they reached the village safely.
“Kakashi, Ryuu, Rin — do not go home yet.
Come with me to see the Hokage!”
Before they could even rest, Shisui hurried them straight to the Hokage’s office.
As an Uchiha, after such an incident, returning first to the clan compound would have been the natural thing — yet Shisui had gone straight to the Hokage Building.
Ryuu could only shake his head inwardly.
Shisui truly had been captivated by Konoha’s strongest genjutsu: the Will of Fire.
And it had taken him completely.
This one small choice said everything: to Shisui, the village came before his own clan.
Hiruzen Sarutobi held Shisui in high regard.
The moment he received word, he set aside all his work and summoned them in.
For the first time since his rebirth, Uchiha Ryuu stood within the Hokage’s office.
“Shame the system only lets me check in once a day… I’d love to see what reward I’d get right here!”
Even amid the gravity of the moment, Ryuu’s mind drifted to the system.
“Shisui — did you find Obito’s body?”
The Third Hokage took a slow drag from his pipe, looking down from his seat.
Kakashi receiving Obito’s Sharingan had already caused a stir in Konoha; the Hokage had been told everything, including Shisui’s mission to recover Obito.
“Lord Hokage… we found nothing.”
Many bodies were lost in war — but Obito was different.
He was an Uchiha who had awakened the Sharingan.
If those eyes fell into enemy hands, it would spell disaster.
The Hokage pressed for details, then told Shisui to keep looking — though there was little more that could be done.
“Lord Hokage… there is something else you must know.”
Shisui’s tone turned grave.
The Hokage had expected this — if this were only about Obito, Shisui would have come alone.
Bringing Kakashi, Rin, and a young genin meant something far larger had happened.
“Speak.”
“On our return, we were ambushed by an elite Iwagakure squad — led by Han, the Five‑Tails Jinchūriki.”
“The Five‑Tails Jinchūriki?”
The usually unflappable Third Hokage’s eyes widened in genuine surprise.
Iwagakure had already lost one jinchūriki to desertion.
To send their only remaining one into battle like this was bold — even reckless.
But more than that… could Shisui truly fight off a jinchūriki and lead his team to safety?
“Shisui… you faced a jinchūriki in pursuit and still brought your men home.
I knew I had chosen well.”
Pride colored his voice — but so did a flicker of unease.
Shisui was already feared for Kotoamatsukami.
Now his raw combat prowess was on par with the strongest beings alive.
It was a blessing that he stood with Konoha — for if he ever turned… the cost would be unimaginable.
