“Lady Tsunade had her reasons this time.
I will help you two guide her, so let her make the final decision this time,” Shin said, crying.
If Danzo knew Shin had such a speech, he would be so angry he’d come back to life!
“Kindred spirits at first sight,” and “foster grandson”—Danzo would wish he could skin Shin alive and use his skin as shoe insoles.
“You poor child…” Utatane Koharu looked at Shin with heartache.
“My parents died in the war when I was young, and I never met my grandparents.
I’ve been wandering ever since.
I was so happy that Grandpa Danzo was willing to take me in as a foster grandson,
but I never expected…
everything happened so suddenly.” As Shin spoke, he cried even louder.
Shin’s performance was all to shield Lady Tsunade from Utatane Koharu and Homura Mitokado, thereby increasing her favorability toward him.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be here mourning for Danzo.
“Child, don’t be sad.
From now on, we two will be your grandparents,” Utatane Koharu said, patting Shin on the back, her eyes full of kindness.
In Shin’s system, Utatane Koharu’s favorability toward him was almost off the charts!
As expected, the best way to deal with the elderly is to attack with family affection.
“That’s right, we are willing to take you in as a foster grandson.
Although we aren’t a married couple, we can just treat it as separate matters,” Homura Mitokado also said.
“No!
You two must not say that!” Shin quickly said.
He really didn’t want to be anyone’s grandson.
“I have a cursed fate, bringing misfortune to my family.
First my parents, then Grandpa Danzo.
I don’t want to implicate you.”
“You child, talking nonsense.
We have survived so many life-and-death situations on the battlefield.
Do you think we would be afraid of such superstitions?” Utatane Koharu said.
“That’s right, just rest easy.
We will definitely be with you for a long time,” Homura Mitokado also said.
“No, I can’t rest easy.
I’ll keep in my heart that you two want to be good to me.
From now on, I will treat you both as family, but you must never have the thought of taking me as a grandson.
Otherwise, if something happens, I really wouldn’t be able to bear it this time,” Shin said excitedly, holding both of their hands.
“What is this kid doing?” Tsunade frowned as she watched Shin and Utatane Koharu chatting heatedly.
Although it was good that they weren’t coming over to bother her, people are naturally gossipy, and she was very curious about what Shin had said to them.
“This…” Homura Mitokado and Utatane Koharu exchanged glances and nodded at each other.
“Fine, we agree,” Utatane Koharu said to Shin.
“We won’t take you as a foster grandson, but as family.
We will leave this matter for you and Tsunade to handle.”
“Really?
Thank you, Grandma Koharu,” Shin said immediately to Utatane Koharu.
If this old woman dared to claim him as her grandson, he would have to kill them both when he got the chance.
“My house is the third one to the right of the Hokage Building.
Feel free to come over and visit when you have time,” Utatane Koharu nodded and said.
“I’ll remember that, Grandma Koharu,” Shin nodded repeatedly.
“Then we will be going,” Homura Mitokado also nodded.
The two then glanced at Tsunade and left.
Shin quietly wiped the tears from his face and ran back to Tsunade.
She had almost finished handling things on her end.
First, she recalled all Root members, then emptied out the Root headquarters, waiting for Tsunade to make arrangements.
“What did you say to them?
Why did they leave?” Tsunade asked Shin when she saw him return.
“They agreed to let you handle this matter alone,” Shin said to Tsunade with a grin.
“Really?” Tsunade widened her eyes in surprise.
They were actually willing to let her handle this kind of matter alone?
“Of course.
Why would I lie to you?” Shin nodded decisively.
After hearing this, Tsunade’s favorability toward Shin increased directly to sixty percent!
“What exactly did you say to them?
Tell me quickly,” Tsunade asked curiously, leaning in close to Shin.
Although Shin was only seventeen or eighteen, he was over 1.8 meters tall.
As Tsunade leaned in, from behind, they looked like a young married couple.
“I’ll tell you when we get back.
There are too many people here.
It’s embarrassing to say it out loud,” Shin whispered into Tsunade’s ear.
Tsunade’s earlobes turned red immediately as Shin’s breath blew into her ear.
An indescribable feeling surged in her heart.
Tsunade quickly took a step back, suppressing that feeling.
“Fine,” Tsunade nodded, pretending as if nothing had happened.
Shin, however, smiled triumphantly.
Just from that moment, Tsunade’s favorability had risen by another three points.
By the time they finished handling things here, it was almost one o’clock.
Shin and Tsunade returned home.
Although Tsunade was very sleepy, she didn’t forget to ask Shin what exactly he had said to them.
Shin honestly told Tsunade what had happened.
“Hahahaha!” Tsunade burst into laughter, slapping the table.
“Danzo and you were kindred spirits at first sight?
You really dared to say that, hahahaha.”
“Hey, that was just to put the old folks at ease,” Shin laughed.
“And they even wanted to take you as a grandson.
Those two old fogies must be crazy from loneliness, hahahaha,” Tsunade laughed, slapping the table.
“Keeping you as my secretary was truly the right decision.”
“Stop laughing at me.
It’s getting late.
Let’s get some rest,” Shin said, scratching his head in feigned embarrassment.
“Alright, alright, alright,” Tsunade nodded, then stood up and said, “I laughed so hard my stomach hurts.”
Shin also stood up.
When Tsunade was about to return to her room, he pretended to accidentally trip her, causing Tsunade to fall right into his arms.
Tsunade’s laughter came to an abrupt halt.
She was now holding Shin firmly in her embrace.
“Lady…
Tsunade, are you okay?” Shin asked, his hands awkwardly raised in the air as he spoke to Tsunade in his arms.
“I’m fine, I’m fine.” Tsunade finally snapped out of it, immediately broke free from Shin’s embrace, and dashed into her room.
Before closing the door, she added, “You should get some rest early too.”
“Alright,” Shin nodded, revealing a triumphant smile.
[Tsunade’s favorability: 65%.]
“What is wrong with me?” After closing the door, Tsunade leaned against it, touching her burning cheeks.
“I couldn’t have fallen for Shin, could I?
He’s still just a kid…
No, no, no, he’s already an adult…
but that still won’t do.
The age gap is too big!”
Tsunade leaned against the door, lost in self-doubt.
In fact, she hadn’t even noticed that Shin’s address for her had changed from the respectful “you” to the informal “you”, which had brought their relationship even closer.
“Heh, heh, little one, how could I not have you wrapped around my finger?” Shin thought to himself as he looked at Tsunade’s room, then happily returned to his own room.
It was time to add some talent points for himself.
