“I’ve already walked everyone through the Academy Three Techniques. Now let me explain the Summoning Technique! The hand seals for the Summoning Technique are as follows…”
Hirofumi Ito watched Iruka-sensei up at the podium, speaking with easy confidence as he explained the finer points of the Summoning Technique to the class.
(Everyone, stop worrying about whether the Ninja Academy teaches the Summoning Technique or not! The Ninja Academy runs for six full years, and the protagonist is about to graduate! The theory still has to be covered! It’s just theory, it’s not like they handed out actual summoning scrolls!)
After all these years, he had gotten very familiar with this world.
The world of Naruto!
Back then, all he had done was make a date with a girl, and then, bizarrely, somehow ended up here.
That was a genuinely good and decent thing to do, okay?!
A gambling-addicted father, a sick mother, a young little brother, she was the one holding everything together.
If he didn’t help her, who would?!
But that one act of help turned him into a newborn.
Not just any newborn, either, a newborn in the world of Naruto!
He had assumed his miserable new life was about to begin.
After all, now that he had transmigrated, the standard formula had to follow: parents die as a sacrifice to the heavens, boundless power awakens, suffering and cold shoulders at every turn, and then finally the dragon king returns, curls one corner of his mouth, and goes full blast!
Reality proved he had been overthinking it.
Both parents were alive and well, and the family was perfectly harmonious.
The Ito Clan wasn’t what you’d call a major clan in the Hidden Leaf Village, but they were far from ordinary commoners either.
The clan wasn’t large in numbers, but Aoyama Ito, Hirofumi’s father and the clan head, was a genuine, full-fledged jonin.
And there were two jonin in the clan total.
Besides his father, the other was his grandfather, Taiga Ito.
The old man’s age had caught up with him, and he had been living out his retirement in quiet comfort within the clan.
All matters of the clan, large and small, had long since been handed to his father.
Beyond that, the clan had over a dozen chunin to its name.
Not an impressive force by Hidden Leaf standards, but nothing to scoff at either.
As the young heir of the Ito Clan, Hirofumi had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth from day one.
On top of that, both Aoyama Ito and Taiga Ito were each the sole heir of their respective lines, so when it came to Hirofumi, they gave him whatever he wanted without a second thought.
The hidden achievement of “parents die, boundless power awakens” never triggered.
And after all these years, the system had gone completely silent.
So Hirofumi had no choice but to grow up the normal way.
The Ito Clan didn’t have any inherited secret techniques the way the Nara, Yamanaka, or Akimichi clans did.
But chakra extraction, ninjutsu, all of that, he had already been exposed to it long ago.
Over the years, under the guidance of his grandfather Taiga Ito and his father Aoyama Ito, he had built a genuine reputation as a talented young ninja.
At his age, he had already cultivated chakra.
He had fully mastered techniques like the Transformation Jutsu and everything in the same category.
He even handled ninja tools with impressive skill.
In the whole class, he was a solid second behind Sasuke Uchiha.
Only Sasuke, that Uchiha orphan — could claim to be above him.
So in Sasuke’s eyes, he counted as half a person.
The other classmates didn’t register at all.
Listening to Iruka-sensei explain the finer points of the Summoning Technique from the podium, Hirofumi was actually pretty curious.
The clan had no hereditary summoned beast, so he had already wondered whether he should eventually find some powerful beast that had cultivated chakra to serve as his.
Raw strength was secondary, looking cool was a lifelong matter.
Whatever he summoned would have to be the wildest, most jaw-dropping, most impossibly badass kind there was.
Besides, he already knew exactly how the Shinobi World’s story was going to unfold.
Having no cheat ability was fine.
All he had to do was lie back and wait for Naruto to save the world…
After all, the years he had spent at the Ninja Academy alongside Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and the other resilient kids of the Leaf had all gone pretty smoothly.
At the end of the day, he was still the scion of a minor clan.
Blending into that core circle had been effortless.
Most importantly, Hirofumi had noticed that Ino Yamanaka seemed to have a thing for him.
In the original story, Ino was supposed to be obsessed with Sasuke Uchiha, but that had never happened.
Instead, her eyes lit up every time she saw him.
Not that he couldn’t understand it.
The face he was walking around with was practically on par with his dear readers’!
Solidly built, with a vibe that carried the same roguishly handsome edge as the Uchiha.
Maybe the reason Sasuke even considered him half a person was partly because of his looks.
He was, after all, the universally acknowledged most handsome guy in the whole year.
Even Sasuke Uchiha came in slightly behind him.
Watching Iruka-sensei still holding forth on the podium, Hirofumi idly worked through the hand seals for the Summoning Technique in his head.
First this one, then this one, and finally this one.
BOOM!
A burst of white smoke flashed through the classroom, and Hirofumi Ito’s seat was empty.
The bizarre scene seized the attention of everyone in the room at once.
Iruka was completely stunned.
Where did that perfectly large student go?!
How did someone just vanish out of nowhere?!
The rest of the class got a tremendous fright from that sudden turn of events.
Sasuke Uchiha quietly produced a kunai and scanned the room with watchful eyes.
Choji Akimichi was so thoroughly startled by the live disappearing act that the bag of chips dropped straight to the floor.
“Where’s Hirofumi Ito?!” Ino Yamanaka’s eyes went wide.
She had literally just been sneaking a glance at him, how did someone that big just vanish with a boom like that?!
The entire classroom erupted into chaos.
Shikamaru Nara scratched at the pineapple bun, brow furrowing ever so slightly.
“Looks like things just got a bit troublesome…”
Naruto Uzumaki, still dead asleep, was jolted awake by the uproar.
He looked around with bleary eyes, a faint glistening trail of drool at the corner of his mouth, clearly not all the way back in the waking world yet.
“What’s going on?”
Iruka had come back to his senses by then.
Just moments ago he had been explaining the Summoning Technique, and then Hirofumi Ito had instantly vanished, could it be that he had actually used the Summoning Technique?!
After all, there was already one precedent.
The great Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin, had once accidentally summoned himself away while recklessly performing the Summoning Technique…
At that thought, Iruka swallowed hard.
Could it be that one of his own students had stumbled into the same kind of fortune?!
“Sakura Haruno!”
“Here! Iruka-sensei!” Sakura Haruno shot up from her seat in a flustered rush.
“Keep the class in order! Everyone, don’t panic — I’m going to find the Hokage!”
Sakura Haruno was the most obedient student in the whole class, and also the strongest academically.
In Iruka’s eyes, Sakura filled roughly the same role as a class representative.
“Yes! Understood! Sensei!”
With that, Iruka sprinted off toward the Hokage Residence at full speed.

Chapter 2 – The System Encounters an Unknown Error
Naruto hadn’t figured out what was going on in the classroom yet.
Seeing Iruka-sensei bolt out in a rush, he figured class had been dismissed.
“What’s everyone doing?! Iruka-sensei already left — why aren’t we going wild?!”
He leaped straight up onto a desk.
Sasuke still hadn’t let his guard down, gripping a kunai tight.
“This idiot!”
Sakura stormed toward Naruto, furious.
And when Naruto saw his beloved Sakura actually walking his way, his heart nearly burst with excitement.
“Sakura!”
BOOM!
Sakura jumped up and drove a fist straight into the top of Naruto’s head.
“Naruto Uzumaki! Keep it down! Hirofumi Ito disappeared!”
“Ow ow ow~~ Sakura, what was that for?! That really hurt! Wait! What did you just say?! Who disappeared?!”
Naruto went quiet instantly.
His eyes snapped to Hirofumi’s seat.
“Hirofumi disappeared! So keep it down! Iruka-sensei already went to find the Hokage!”
“How?! How could he just disappear?! What happened just now?!”
Naruto stared at the empty seat, unable to believe it.
Hirofumi Ito was one of the very few real friends Naruto had.
Never once looked down on Naruto for carrying the Nine-Tails, and had even shared food with him.
How could he just vanish like that?!
Before long, the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi and Iruka came rushing into the classroom.
Hiruzen’s expression was grave.
Iruka had already relayed everything on the way over, and Hiruzen already had a theory about Hirofumi’s sudden disappearance.
“Did any of you see exactly what happened?!”
Ino Yamanaka raised her hand, a little tentatively.
“Hokage-sama… I saw it. Iruka-sensei was at the podium explaining the Summoning Technique and the hand seal sequence, and then I saw Hirofumi start performing the seals, and then — bang — his whole body just disappeared!”
Hiruzen Sarutobi and Iruka exchanged a look, and both said the same three words at the exact same moment.
Reverse Summoning!
“Iruka…”
“Hokage-sama?”
“Go and notify Jōnin Aoyama Ito. Aoyama is Hirofumi’s father, and the head of the Ito Clan. There is no solution for Reverse Summoning. We have no way of knowing where that child ended up, and we don’t even know whether the child can come back…”
“Understood, Hokage-sama!”
After Iruka left, Hiruzen produced a pipe and began puffing away, gaze fixed on Hirofumi’s empty seat.
A certain student drifted into thought.
Jiraiya.
Back then, Jiraiya had been Reverse Summoned to Mount Myoboku by accident, and through that twist of fate learned Senjutsu.
From that moment on, Jiraiya had soared.
Could it be that Hirofumi Ito was heading down the same road?!
At this very moment, Hirofumi Ito was completely dumbstruck.
All he had done was casually practice the Summoning Technique.
And now he was standing in some unknown space.
Everything around him was hazy and misty.
No sun.
No light.
Just endless darkness, and a faint, bone-chilling cold seeping in from every direction…
“What the hell is going on?! Did I just get Reverse Summoned?! Is this some kind of sacred ground?! But there are no toads here, no slugs, no snakes, there’s absolutely nothing here! How am I supposed to get back?!”
[Host detected. System binding successful! Host detected to be located in the Hidden Leaf Village! Now binding Hidden Leaf Village Netherworld spirits to host! Binding successful!]
“Wait! A System?!”
“System, what is going on?!”
“Why did you suddenly bind to me?! And where am I right now?!”
“And what did you just mean by binding the Hidden Leaf Netherworld spirits?!”
[The host should have been dead! In the original timeline, the host should have died in the womb, with the soul entering this world’s Netherworld! Therefore, this system encountered an unknown error when detecting the host! Using the system’s power to invade the entire Netherworld and break through the barrier between the two realms, this system was finally able to successfully bind to the host!]
Hearing that, Hirofumi went a little blank.
No wonder there had been no trace of him in the original story, his existence should never have happened at all.
And it was because of the transmigration that Hirofumi Ito had actually managed to be born.
So that’s what the system meant.
He should have been a Netherworld spirit by rights, so the system had gone straight to the Netherworld to find him.
But he had survived.
And then the system had burned through its power to shatter the barrier between realms just to reach him.
“System… so what kind of system are you?!”
[This system was originally meant to be a Many Children, Great Blessings System! However, devouring the Netherworld consumed too much power. It is no longer possible to grant the host many children and great blessings! But this system underwent an unknown change during the process of merging with the Netherworld! It can now bind Netherworld spirits to the host, and they will become the host’s summoned beasts!]
Many children and great blessings, honestly, Hirofumi had been pretty into that idea.
But what could he do?
The system had hit an unknown error.
That option was gone.
Still, this whole binding Netherworld spirits thing…
“System, are you saying I’m in the Netherworld right now?!”
[Correct! When the host was practicing the Summoning Technique just now, this system directly Reverse Summoned the host to the Netherworld! And successfully bound the entire Netherworld to the host!]
“Hold on, system, didn’t you just say I was bound to the Hidden Leaf Village’s Netherworld spirits? Now you’re saying the entire Netherworld?!”
[Because the host is currently located in the Hidden Leaf Village and holds the identity of a Hidden Leaf Village resident, the host can currently summon Hidden Leaf Village Netherworld spirits! Only after the host has completely taken control of the Shinobi World will the entire Netherworld be fully bound to the host!]
“I see… Alright, I get it. So system, run me through your functions!”
[This system was originally the Many Children, Great Blessings System, but underwent a change due to an unknown error! It has now been updated to the Summoning System! The host may use the Summoning Technique to summon Netherworld spirits and make them the host’s summoned beasts! White-tier summoning can summon ninja of Genin-level strength! Green-tier summoning can summon ninja of Chūnin-level strength! Blue-tier summoning can summon ninja of Jōnin-level strength! Purple-tier summoning can summon ninja of Elite Jōnin-level strength! Gold-tier summoning can summon ninja of Hokage-level strength!]
