After hearing the figure Hirofumi Ito named, Sasuke Uchiha’s brow knitted tight.
Throwing out a number in the hundreds of millions was no small thing.
Sasuke had inherited the entire Uchiha Clan estate, real estate included, and his total net worth barely cleared a billion ryo.
And that figure was padded by property and land.
In raw cash, nowhere close.
What on earth had Hirofumi Ito gotten himself into?!
To need that much money?!
Sasuke squeezed his fist and turned to face him.
“Can you tell me what actually happened? I do have some money on hand. If you need it, I can lend it to you, but can you at least tell me what’s going on?! Hirofumi… I think we’re already friends by now, aren’t we?! Friends face things together, whatever it is. If you’re in trouble, just say so!”
Naruto had already clocked that he couldn’t help the moment he heard the number, hundreds of millions was way out of his league, but the second Sasuke finished talking, Naruto was nodding like crazy beside him.
“Yeah, yeah! Hirofumi, what kind of trouble are you actually in?! Just say it and we’ll all face it together! If it comes to it… this great lord will go borrow money from Shikamaru and Choji for you! Or… or I could go find the Third Grandpa!”
Hirofumi went quiet for a moment.
Inside the Summoning Space, his chakra-formed body took shape.
“Madara! Do me a favor — sense the area. Check if anyone’s watching.”
Madara Uchiha was stretched out in his rocking chair.
He raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? You want to share your secret with these two little brats?! Aren’t you afraid they’ll let your biggest secret slip?!”
“Those two won’t!” Hirofumi shook his head without hesitation.
For just a moment, Madara’s thoughts drifted to the years he had once spent with hashirama senju.
“Fine. This old man has already sensed the area, not a single breathing soul anywhere in the entire Uchiha Clan grounds besides you three brats. Rest easy.”
Hirofumi trusted Madara’s sensing without question.
There probably wasn’t a single person in the Hidden Leaf Village whose sensing ability could surpass Madara Uchiha’s, or rather, not a single person who could conceal themselves from his perception.
With that settled, Hirofumi’s figure inside the Summoning Space dissolved.
Madara stayed in the rocking chair, one hand lightly tapping the armrest.
“So what this little brat told me before was actually true. What a peculiar thing, spending money to bring people back to life?! A method like this is truly unheard of! Tied to the Netherworld — whose handiwork could this possibly be?! Even someone of this old man’s caliber has become a plaything in their hands… Was it the work of the legendary Sage? Or perhaps something else entirely…”
Madara already knew Hirofumi was out borrowing money, Hirofumi had never cut off the Summoning Space’s outward perception, so Madara had heard everything.
It indirectly confirmed that what Hirofumi had told him was true.
And that confirmation sent Madara’s mind down a long road of thought.
Back in the outside world, Hirofumi looked at Sasuke and Naruto sitting beside him.
“What I’m about to say might sound a little too fantastical… But Sasuke, Naruto — I need you two to believe me. Because this is my greatest secret. And if it ever got out, there’s a very real chance I would die!”
The gravity in Hirofumi’s voice pulled both of them taut.
What kind of secret could actually get someone killed?!
And beneath the tension, both of them felt something else, something warm.
A secret this dangerous, and Hirofumi was willing to tell them anyway.
In truth, Hirofumi had only said the death part to make things sound appropriately serious.
Even if this got out, he wasn’t actually scared.
Madara Uchiha was right there in the Summoning Space.
Would Madara let him die?!
What a joke!
Besides, judging by the way Madara had been treating him lately, Hirofumi could already feel that something was shifting in that guy.
Sasuke, for his part, was far more composed than Naruto.
He stood, scanned their surroundings in every direction, then herded all three of them inside and shut the door firmly behind him.
Once they were inside, the two of them looked at Hirofumi with barely-contained nerves.
He began, slowly.
“Do you remember the time I suddenly disappeared at the Ninja Academy?!”
“Of course! And Hirofumi, I saw it, you came back with a boom!”
Naruto nodded quickly.
Sasuke gave a single nod beside him.
“Because of what happened that day, I gained some unusual abilities. Spending money lets my strength grow rapidly. So Sasuke… that’s why I want to borrow from you.”
Something clicked in Sasuke’s expression.
“No wonder you got so much stronger so fast. Beating me this time, that was because of this, wasn’t it?!”
“Exactly! But if it were only about getting stronger, I wouldn’t need to borrow money this urgently. Earning slowly would work fine. There’s something else. Something far more important. I can’t tell you two about it just yet, but you’ll understand when the time comes. And when it does, I’m certain it’s going to be one hell of a surprise!”
The surprise Hirofumi had in mind was, of course, the chance to summon both Naruto’s and Sasuke’s parents.
minato namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki were both unquestionably Hokage-level combat power.
Mikoto Uchiha might fall slightly below that, but Fugaku Uchiha, as head of the Uchiha Clan, should be sitting at Hokage-level as well.
The Hidden Leaf Village had no shortage of top-tier powerhouses.
Fighters who could rival a Hokage were everywhere you looked.
It was just a shame what had happened to them, run into the ground by that pair of dear friends, Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzō Shimura.
Sometimes Hirofumi thought about it: if Hiruzen Sarutobi had never become Hokage, the Hidden Leaf of this era would have been terrifyingly powerful!
