Tobirama stood between the two fighters as the referee.
Outside the training ground, quiet conversations had already begun.
“Uchiha Yū got there first.”
“That Elder Council seat is basically being handed to him for free.”
“Exactly.
That old man from the Hatake clan is far too weak.”
“He’s weak and ancient.
This isn’t even a fair fight.”
“I really don’t understand what Lord Hokage is thinking.”
“There’s absolutely no suspense here.”
“…”
Sora naturally heard them.
But he wasn’t worried in the slightest.
The 50/50 System equalized his combat power with the target he locked onto.
There was no rule saying he actually had to fight that target.
That was exactly why Sora hadn’t been concerned when Hashirama announced that anyone could challenge him.
As long as terrifying Kage-level monsters like Hashirama or Tobirama were nearby…
Sora could simply lock onto one of them.
Once his combat power was raised to their level—
why would he fear someone else?
At that moment, an enormous surge of power appeared inside Sora’s body.
For a brief instant, he even had the ridiculous feeling that—
if he truly wanted to—
he could flatten all of Konoha within the next ten minutes.
Son Goku’s true strength was vastly beyond Hashirama Senju’s.
Even though the system had suppressed Goku’s power tremendously until it matched Hashirama’s combat level…
the sheer sensation of possessing that kind of strength still made Sora’s blood boil.
Fortunately, this wasn’t his first time suddenly receiving overwhelming power.
After his previous activations, Sora had already learned how to restrain his aura instead of letting it erupt uncontrollably.
Almost no one noticed the change.
Almost.
Hashirama suddenly smiled.
Tobirama frowned slightly.
Both seemed to sense that something about Sora had changed.
Sora looked across the training ground at his opponent.
Damn.
Hashirama really is absurdly strong.
With his temporarily heightened perception, Sora could now clearly judge the middle-aged Uchiha’s strength.
He’s probably around quasi-Kage level.
The man calmly introduced himself.
“Uchiha Yū.”
“Please instruct me.”
His tone was polite.
But the confidence in his eyes was unmistakable.
Sora slowly straightened his previously hunched back.
Then he smiled.
“One warning.”
“If I hit you with this punch…”
“You might die.”
Yū sneered.
“Big words.”
“You should worry about whether you’ll survive long enough to touch me.”
Tobirama raised his voice.
“Three.”
“Two.”
“One.”
“Begin!”
He immediately retreated from between them.
“Three-Tomoe Sharingan!”
Yū’s eyes turned crimson.
Three black tomoe appeared around each pupil and began spinning rapidly.
The instant his Sharingan activated, Sora’s movements seemed to slow within his vision.
Then—
WHOOSH!
Sora disappeared.
An afterimage remained where he had been standing.
But Sora himself had already arrived directly in front of Yū.
Yū’s Sharingan caught the movement.
His reaction was equally fast.
Five shuriken flew from one hand while his other hand formed a seal.
“Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!”
A powerful stream of flame surged outward.
The fire twisted like a dragon as it roared toward Sora.
Sora pulled back his fist.
“Air Punch!”
BOOM!
His first punch struck nothing but empty air.
Yet the compressed force generated by the blow exploded forward.
The five incoming shuriken were blasted backward.
At the same time—
a gigantic hole was punched straight through the raging fire dragon.
Sora’s eyes sharpened.
“Kaio-ken…”
“Times Two!”
In an instant—
every aspect of Sora’s combat capability doubled.
Then he vanished again.
His second punch came.
BANG!
A thunderous impact exploded across the training ground.
Everyone watching saw only a black silhouette shooting away in a straight line.
The figure flew completely out of the training field.
CRASH!
CRASH!
CRASH!
Trees outside the training ground snapped one after another.
The sounds of destruction became fainter and fainter…
until finally—
silence.
The battle was over.
Two punches.
That was all it took.
No one spoke.
Everyone stared at the training ground in stunned silence.
Some people even rubbed their eyes.
Their faces were filled with disbelief, as though they had just awakened from a dream and weren’t sure whether what they’d seen was real.
Only one person remained standing in the field.
Hatake Sora.
White hair.
Straightened posture.
And a small amount of blood staining his right fist.
As for Uchiha Yū—
the man who had activated a Three-Tomoe Sharingan only moments earlier—
he was nowhere to be seen.
Because the black silhouette that had just disappeared into the distance…
had been him.
He had been launched more than a hundred meters away.
And no one currently knew whether he was alive or dead.
WHOOSH!
Tobirama disappeared immediately.
The Grand Elder of the Senju clan stared toward the destroyed forest.
“That was insane!”
He turned toward the Hyūga clan head.
“Did you see how that punch became so powerful?”
The Hyūga clan head’s expression was grave.
“He didn’t use chakra.”
“That attack was almost entirely physical strength.”
“His taijutsu is extremely powerful.”
“Extremely powerful?”
Someone stared at the broken trees.
“That punch was impossible to resist!”
That was the only thought running through everyone’s mind.
Two punches.
And Uchiha Yū had literally vanished from the training ground.
Even Tobirama, who had rushed away to find him, now understood why Hashirama had insisted on putting Sora on the Elder Council.
That kind of taijutsu…
was terrifying.
About half a minute later—
Tobirama returned.
He was carrying someone.
He gently placed Uchiha Yū in front of the Uchiha clan head.
Yū’s face was deathly pale.
His body hung limply, almost as though he no longer had bones.
There was no response from him.
Mito immediately rushed forward and examined him.
After a moment, she spoke.
“He’s unconscious and severely injured.”
“But his life isn’t in danger.”
The Uchiha clan head finally released the breath he’d been holding.
Alive.
That was enough.
Then Mito continued.
“However…”
“Most of the bones throughout his body have been shattered, and several internal organs were damaged.”
“He’ll need at least six months to recover.”
“Six months?!”
Several people sucked in sharp breaths.
Uchiha Yū was a quasi-Kage-level shinobi.
And Sora had crippled him with a single direct punch.
Several people who had previously been eager to challenge Sora suddenly lost all enthusiasm.
The way they looked at him changed.
A trace of fear appeared in their eyes.
Fight that old monster?
How?
Sora currently possessed combat power equal to Hashirama Senju.
Against Yū, who was only quasi-Kage level, the difference was already enormous.
And on top of that—
Sora had activated Kaio-ken x2.
For a short period, his already overwhelming combat ability had doubled.
Of course the result was terrifying.
Sora looked toward the unconscious Yū and sighed.
“I warned him.”
“One punch from me might kill him.”
He turned toward the Uchiha clan head.
“But considering that big red envelope you gave me a few days ago…”
“I held back.”
Then Sora shook his head solemnly.
“Young people.”
“You really should listen when your elders give you advice.”
Everyone fell silent.
They had all assumed Sora was bluffing earlier.
Apparently—
he hadn’t been.
Tobirama stepped forward.
“All right.”
“The challenges will continue.”
He looked around at the gathered clans.
“If anyone still believes Elder Hatake is unqualified for his position, you may challenge him now.”
The clan leaders exchanged glances.
This time—
very few looked eager.
Uchiha Yū had been quasi-Kage level.
Most of the people present weren’t even as strong as him.
And he had been destroyed in two punches.
Who would voluntarily walk into that?
Then—
“Father.”
A man from the Hyūga clan stepped forward.
He appeared to be in his early thirties.
“I want to try.”
The Hyūga clan head frowned.
“Are you certain?”
“His taijutsu is extremely powerful.”
The man nodded seriously.
“Only the Hyūga clan deserves to be called Konoha’s strongest taijutsu clan.”
“I saw that punch clearly.”
“And I can dodge it.”
His expression became resolute.
“This battle isn’t only about the Elder Council seat.”
“I want to fight for the honor of the Hyūga clan’s taijutsu.”
The Hyūga clan head stared at him for a moment.
Then he nodded.
“Very well.”
“Go.”
“But be careful.”
This challenge would influence more than a single seat on the Elder Council.
If the Hyūga defeated the man who had just crushed an Uchiha powerhouse—
the prestige of the Hyūga clan within Konoha would rise dramatically.
Deep down, the clan head wanted that outcome as well.
The man entered the training ground.
Unlike Yū, there was no contempt in his eyes.
Only seriousness.
And respect.
He stopped across from Sora.
“Elder Hatake.”
“I am Hyūga Kiyoshi.”
“Please instruct me.”
Sora looked him over.
“At least you’ve got courage.”
Then he yawned.
“But I usually go to bed early.”
“So let’s make this quick.”
Meanwhile, another Uchiha had already lifted the unconscious Yū onto his back and rushed toward the Uchiha compound.
Tobirama once again stepped between the two fighters.
He raised his hand.
“Three.”
“Two.”
“One.”
“Begin!”
