Having watched the Naruto anime, Sora knew that Black Zetsu’s true combat strength wasn’t particularly overwhelming.
That bastard was dangerous because he specialized in hiding in the shadows and scheming.
So Sora had wanted to take advantage of his temporary power and kill him now, eliminating a future threat once and for all.
Unfortunately…
He had overestimated himself.
And underestimated Black Zetsu.
With Sesshōmaru’s abilities, Sora’s movement speed was incredibly fast.
But Black Zetsu wasn’t slow either.
More importantly, he could move underground and appear or disappear without warning.
So after chasing him for more than ten miles…
Sora lost him completely.
“Damn it!”
He quickly returned.
Stopping roughly a kilometer away, Sora looked toward the distant battle between Hashirama and Madara.
After thinking for a moment, he decided not to interfere.
He had lived in the Naruto world for a hundred years now.
Far longer than he’d ever lived on Earth.
During those hundred years, although Sora had never personally taken part in battle, he had heard far too many stories.
Members of the Senju clan had killed Hatake clansmen.
The Uchiha had killed many Hatake as well.
And naturally, the Hatake had also killed members of both clans.
There was no overwhelming hatred between them.
But there wasn’t much affection either.
After living for so long, Sora no longer saw the Senju as inherently good people.
Nor did he see the Uchiha as inherently evil.
Hashirama Senju was naturally kindhearted.
But Madara Uchiha wasn’t some embodiment of pure evil either.
There was no simple right or wrong.
No absolute good or evil.
And Sora himself…
was merely someone passing through this era.
Besides—
no matter how fiercely Hashirama and Madara fought, even to the point of risking their lives…
They were still brothers in everything but blood.
They shared a bond outsiders could never completely understand.
A battle between bonds.
A battle between brothers.
A battle of fate.
Sora’s enormous Great Dog Transformation began to disappear.
The ten-minute duration had ended.
Immediately, the system’s voice echoed in his mind.
[Beginning random ability retention…]
Countless images flashed rapidly through Sora’s consciousness.
Then they suddenly stopped.
[System notification: Ability Great Dog Transformation retained.]
[Great Dog Transformation: Grants the host Sesshōmaru’s great dog yōkai bloodline.
The host may transform into a giant dog yōkai, greatly increasing strength, speed, defense, and other physical attributes…]
Sora’s eyes lit up.
“Holy shit!”
“Now that’s a good reward!”
Sesshōmaru possessed plenty of terrifying abilities.
But many of his strongest techniques depended on yōki.
Even if Sora had retained one of those techniques, he might not have been able to use it.
But now?
That problem was gone.
The great dog yōkai bloodline itself had been permanently retained.
That meant Sora now possessed yōki of his own.
If he ever activated Sesshōmaru’s abilities again and retained one of his powerful techniques, he would actually have the energy required to use it.
And more importantly—
Great Dog Transformation itself was ridiculously powerful.
Simple.
Direct.
Violent.
Exactly Sora’s kind of ability.
After calming down, Sora sat on a huge boulder and continued watching the battle in the distance.
Not long afterward, the ten-minute duration of his 50/50 activation against Madara also ended.
His luck was surprisingly good.
This time, he permanently retained—
Armament Haki.
But Sora didn’t pay much attention to the reward for now.
His focus remained on the battle.
Hashirama and Madara fought for a very long time.
When Sora first awakened in his coffin, it had been nighttime.
The two continued fighting throughout the entire night.
By the time morning arrived, Sora’s two daily uses of the 50/50 System had already refreshed.
The Valley of the End had been devastated beyond recognition.
The Nine-Tails had already been sealed by Hashirama and was now completely restrained beneath layers of wood.
Both Hashirama and Madara had almost exhausted their chakra.
Yet they were still fighting.
No enormous ninjutsu.
No giant constructs.
Just brutal close-quarters combat.
A battle that seemed destined to continue until one of them finally fell.
Then—
SHNK!
Hashirama’s blade pierced Madara’s chest.
The battle ended.
Madara froze.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
“You…
won.”
His voice was weak.
His body collapsed into the water.
Sora noticed something during those final moments.
Madara had bitten Hashirama.
But Sora didn’t interfere.
He was already a hundred years old.
Who knew how much longer he would live?
Then again…
If he somehow survived all the way until Kaguya appeared, the system would probably keep him alive anyway.
Actually—
the real reason was much simpler.
Sora was lazy.
He couldn’t be bothered getting involved.
Hashirama stood over Madara’s fallen body.
His face was deathly pale.
His eyes were filled with grief.
He had won.
But there wasn’t the slightest trace of happiness in his heart.
This wasn’t the ending Hashirama had wanted.
He had never wanted to fight Madara.
What he wanted was for the two of them to return to the village and continue building Konoha together.
But…
this was the result.
Splash!
Hashirama’s eyes lost focus.
His strength finally gave out.
He collapsed face-first into the water and lost consciousness.
Then—
something moved.
A black shadow silently rose from beneath the ground.
A sharp blade formed from it.
The weapon stabbed directly toward the unconscious Hashirama’s back.
Sora’s eyes narrowed.
50/50 ability, activate!
Target locked—
Black Zetsu!
[Random selection…]
[Bleach World — Byakuya Kuchiki.]
[Calculating combat power…]
[Adjusting…]
[Combat power equalized to Black Zetsu.]
WHOOSH!
Sora vanished.
He appeared beside Hashirama in an instant, grabbed him by the arm, and rapidly pulled him backward.
Black Zetsu’s blade missed.
It stabbed into the water instead.
Sora had already moved within a few dozen meters of the battlefield while Hashirama and Madara were locked in their final sword fight.
Their chakra had been almost completely exhausted by then.
The destructive power of their battle had fallen dramatically.
And although Sora had failed to catch Black Zetsu earlier…
he had never believed that creature would simply leave.
Now his suspicion had been proven correct.
Sora stared coldly at the black figure.
“If you’re looking to die…”
“I don’t mind sending you on your way.”
Black Zetsu’s strange, grating voice answered him.
“Nosy old bastard.”
Without hesitation, Black Zetsu dissolved into a mass of black liquid.
It wrapped itself around Madara’s body.
In the blink of an eye—
Madara’s “corpse” disappeared.
Sora didn’t chase them.
Even if he fought Black Zetsu now, the system had only equalized his combat power with him.
Killing him wouldn’t be easy.
But Sora hadn’t actually needed to win.
He had simply gambled that Black Zetsu wouldn’t dare continue fighting.
And he’d been right.
“These two brothers…”
Sora looked around.
The surrounding landscape had practically been flattened.
He shook his head helplessly.
Then he lifted the unconscious Hashirama onto his back.
Time to return to Konoha.
The ten-minute activation period wasn’t very long.
But this time, Sora had received the abilities of a captain from the Bleach world—
Byakuya Kuchiki.
And among the abilities at his disposal was a movement technique belonging to the Soul Reapers.
Shunpo.
Its speed was astonishing.
Sora raced toward Konoha like the wind.
By the time the ten-minute duration was almost over, he had already reached the village gates.
The two gate guards looked over.
Their expressions immediately became strange.
A white-haired old man…
carrying a muscular adult man on his back.
That old man is surprisingly energetic for his age.
Then they saw the face of the man on his back.
Both guards froze.
The next instant, they rushed forward.
“Lord Hokage!”
