Sora had no idea how chaotic the outside world had become over the past week.

Nor did he particularly care.

After spending a hundred years living like a complete slacker, laziness had long since become second nature.Full novel: NARUTO: THE 100-YEAR-OLD HATAKE WHO CAN MATCH ANYONE — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Instead, Sora had spent the week training.

More specifically—

refining chakra.

The 50/50 System might allow him to temporarily fight someone like Kaguya on equal terms, but that power only lasted ten minutes.

Sora had no interest in becoming ridiculously powerful for ten minutes…

and then dying the moment the timer ran out.

So ultimately, he still needed to strengthen himself.

Fortunately, after his body had been transformed by the great dog yōkai bloodline, something that had once been impossible finally became possible.

It only took Sora a single day to successfully refine chakra.

And after a full week of training—

Hatake Sora, one hundred years old…

had finally achieved the glorious rank of genin.

To celebrate this historic accomplishment, he had even gone out for barbecue.

Which was exactly why, when Konoha suddenly called an emergency meeting that night, the Hatake clan head’s grandson had to track Sora down at a barbecue restaurant.

…

Hokage Building

Inside a large conference room, an enormous oval table occupied the center.

The heads of Konoha’s major clans sat around it, along with several of the village’s strongest shinobi.

Two ninjas stood behind each representative.

At the head of the table sat the First Hokage—

Hashirama Senju.

Tobirama Senju sat to his right.

Uzumaki Mito sat to his left.

But tonight, there was one unusual addition.

Hatake Sora was seated beside Tobirama.

Several people couldn’t help glancing at him.

Sora, however, showed no discomfort whatsoever.

Living for a hundred years came with at least one advantage.

His ability to remain calm in almost any situation was absurdly good.

Hashirama looked down at the documents in his hands.

Once everyone had arrived, he nodded.

“All right.”

“Since everyone’s here, let’s begin.”

He glanced at the papers.

Then frowned slightly.

“Hmm…”

“Tobirama, you explain it.”

Tobirama’s expression stiffened.

He had written the entire meeting agenda himself.

The whole point had been for his older brother, the Hokage, to conduct the meeting.

And now that the meeting had actually started…

Hashirama had dumped everything right back onto him.

Again.

Tobirama suppressed a sigh.

He looked around the room.

“There are several matters that need to be addressed.”

“First.”

“Over the past week, shinobi from other hidden villages have secretly infiltrated Konoha in order to gather information.”

“Their movements were concealed, but some of them clearly had hostile intentions.”

His voice remained cold and precise.

“So far, we have killed five elite jōnin from foreign villages.”

“Thirteen jōnin.”

“And an unspecified number of chūnin and genin.”

Tobirama paused.

“We have also killed several people from within our own village.”

His gaze slowly swept across the room.

“As for whose people they were…”

“You already know.”

No one responded.

The clan heads remained perfectly calm.

Tobirama continued.

“Second.”

“You should all already know the general situation from one week ago.”

“The Hokage fought Madara Uchiha.”

“I don’t know the full details of the battle, so I won’t waste time discussing them.”

“I’ll give you the result directly.”

The room went completely silent.

Tobirama’s eyes sharpened.

“Madara Uchiha betrayed Konoha.”

“And he is dead.”

Several people immediately stiffened.

“The Nine-Tails was sealed by the Hokage.”

“Lord Hokage was injured during the battle, but he has now recovered.”

Tobirama’s tone became noticeably colder.

“Certain people here may now pass that information along.”

“And tell whoever is waiting outside the village—”

His killing intent suddenly exploded.

“If anyone dares invade Konoha again…”

“I won’t mind personally leading an army to erase their village from the map.”

An oppressive chill filled the room.

Several of the weaker shinobi immediately broke out in cold sweat.

Madara Uchiha…

was dead.

The news hit everyone like an explosion.

Anyone who had survived the Warring States era understood exactly how terrifying Madara was.

Many of them had personally fought the Uchiha clan before.

They knew better than anyone how dangerous the Sharingan could be.

And Madara—

the strongest Uchiha of them all—

had stood at the very peak of Konoha’s military power.

Now one of Konoha’s strongest men was dead.

The Uchiha clan head showed surprisingly little anger.

He didn’t even seem particularly shocked.

Instead…

there was a faint trace of relief in his expression.

Madara had once been the strongest warrior and clan head of the Uchiha.

But not long ago, he had attempted to force the entire clan to abandon Konoha alongside him.

The situation was different now.

The Uchiha might have helped establish Konoha, but the village no longer belonged solely to them.

If the entire clan defected, they would be hunted by every clan in Konoha.

Not only that—

their old enemies from the Warring States era would seize the opportunity to hunt them down as well.

Madara’s decision had nearly placed the entire Uchiha clan on a path toward destruction.

But because Madara himself was the clan’s strongest warrior, opposing him directly had been extraordinarily dangerous.

Now…

that ticking bomb had finally exploded.

And fortunately—

it had exploded before taking the Uchiha clan with it.

Sora noticed the relief on the Uchiha clan head’s face.

Cold.

Really damn cold.

Still, Sora didn’t have much time to concern himself with other people’s family problems.

Tobirama’s killing intent was becoming increasingly intense.

And with Sora’s current permanent strength still relatively low, the pressure alone was making it difficult for him to breathe.

“Stop.”

Sora casually reached over and patted Tobirama on the shoulder.

“Tobirama.”

“If you’re going to talk, then talk.”

“Why are you throwing killing intent everywhere?”

He shook his head disapprovingly.

“What if you frighten all the flowers and grass?”

“…”

Tobirama stared at him.

Hit him?

He couldn’t exactly start beating up a hundred-year-old man in the middle of a meeting.

Don’t hit him?

This old bastard was unbelievably irritating.

And just like that, the killing intent Tobirama had spent several moments building vanished completely.

Hashirama immediately nodded.

“Elder Hatake is right.”

“Tobirama, you shouldn’t always be thinking about killing people.”

“Maybe those shinobi only came because they were worried about me.”

“Destroying their villages would be going too far.”

Hashirama smiled.

“Go on.”

“Explain the third matter.”

Tobirama’s expression darkened.

“…Fine.”

With the atmosphere finally settling down, Tobirama continued.

“The third matter concerns Konoha’s political structure.”

“After careful consideration, my brother believes that all of us established Konoha together.”

“We came from an age of endless warfare and finally reached the peace we have today.”

“However, after what happened with Madara, the Hokage realized something.”

Tobirama’s gaze moved across the gathered clan leaders.

“A decision made by the Hokage alone is not necessarily always correct.”

“In the past, important matters were occasionally brought before everyone for discussion and decided through voting.”

“But there was never a formal system governing those decisions.”

“So we have decided to establish one.”

He paused.

“An official institution.”

“The Konoha Elder Council.”

Several clan heads immediately focused their attention on him.

Tobirama continued.

“Once the Elder Council is established, major decisions concerning Konoha will no longer be decided solely by the Hokage.”

“Members of the Elder Council will vote on important matters.”

“The decision receiving the majority of votes will be adopted.”

“The Hokage will hold five votes.”

“This way, major decisions will be made collectively.”

“It will strengthen trust between the village’s different factions and reduce the possibility of future misunderstandings.”

The eyes of nearly every clan head at the table lit up.

This was practically the Hokage voluntarily surrendering part of his own authority.

Voting had existed before.

But there had been no formal institution.

And the people participating had possessed no clearly defined political position.

Now—

everything would be different.

Sora listened quietly.

So this is how the Elder Council came into existence.

Then another thought occurred to him.

But in the anime, there were only a couple of people usually treated as Konoha’s elders.

He glanced around the packed conference room.

This looks like it’s going to involve a lot more people.

Sora’s eyes narrowed.

Don’t tell me…

Did my existence already create a butterfly effect?

Tobirama paused before continuing.

“For now, three members of the Konoha Elder Council will be appointed directly.”

He looked around the room.

“Me.”

“Uzumaki Mito.”

“And…”

“Hatake Sora.”

Tobirama’s expression remained completely serious.

“Does anyone object?”

For a moment—

the room went silent.

Then several voices erupted almost simultaneously.

“Hatake Sora?!”

“Hatake Sora?”
