In the evening, Uchiha Yu accompanied Mikoto back to her home.

The moment Akaho saw the two children chatting and laughing together, a warm smile immediately appeared on her face.

She genuinely liked Uchiha Yu, and not simply because of his frightening talent.Full novel: Naruto: The Fourth Hokage’s Shadow — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

More importantly, the boy had always treated Mikoto exceptionally well, and despite his usual arrogance, he was surprisingly polite toward elders.

In her eyes, entrusting Mikoto to someone like Yu was something she could feel at ease about.

“Come, come, come.

I made your favorite fish today using the method you taught me before.”

The atmosphere during dinner was extremely warm.

By the time the meal ended, both Yu and Mikoto had already eaten their fill.

Afterwards, the two naturally returned to the room together to sleep.

Of course, they were still children, so nothing inappropriate happened.

They had practically grown up together anyway, so sleeping beside each other had long since become normal for them.

However, not long after midnight passed, Yu suddenly opened his eyes.

Although the ANBU outside had not entered the house, he had already sensed their presence the moment they arrived.

Just as Yu was preparing to sit up, Mikoto’s small nose twitched slightly.

Without even opening her eyes completely, she hugged him tighter and muttered sleepily in a somewhat spoiled tone, “Don’t move…

I still haven’t slept enough yet.”

Yu could only smile helplessly before lightly tapping her forehead.

“You keep sleeping first.

I still need to go take the Chunin Exams.

I’ll come back afterward and continue sleeping.”

Only then did Mikoto reluctantly loosen her grip while slowly opening her sleepy eyes.

“Then hurry back.”

After leaving the room, Yu immediately saw the ANBU operative standing outside with an extremely strange expression beneath the mask.

As for how Yu could tell, it was simply intuition developed through long periods of contact with shinobi.

“Let’s go.”

Yu casually yawned while leisurely walking down the street.

Along the way, he even stopped to buy breakfast and calmly ate while strolling toward the examination grounds.

“Want some?”

The ANBU operative silently shook his head before speaking in a serious tone.

“Uchiha Yu, I advise you to move faster.

Do not disappoint Hokage-sama.”

Yu immediately scoffed.

“If you don’t want any, then forget it.

Also, what do you mean by disappointing him?

The scheduled time hasn’t even arrived yet.

Going too early just means standing around waiting for others.

Why would I rush there for no reason?”

As the two continued walking through the streets, a group of children around seven or eight years old suddenly waved excitedly after spotting him.

“Big Brother Yu!

Big Brother Yu!”

Yu casually nodded toward them.

“Study hard and stop thinking about bullying people all day.

Don’t disgrace the Uchiha Clan.

But if someone else bullies you first, then don’t embarrass the clan by losing either.

If you get beaten up outside, just wait and see how I deal with you afterward.”

The children had not even reacted yet before the nearby adults burst into laughter first.

Yu immediately glared at them.

“What are you laughing at?

Aren’t you all members of the Police Force?

What exactly is the Police Force for?

Helping villagers search for lost cats and dogs every day?”

One of the adults sighed helplessly.

“What would a child like you understand?

We’re helpless too.”

“Helpless my foot.”

Yu rolled his eyes in disdain.

“Once this war ends, I’ll ask the Young Clan Head to transfer me into the Police Force.

Then you’ll see how This Young Master handles those people.”

“Tsk.

You’re still just a child who loves bragging.”

“Bragging my foot.

When the time comes, I’ll teach all of you properly what it means to act like actual law enforcement.”

The ANBU operative beside him gradually became speechless.

Was this really how Uchiha clan members normally interacted with each other?

More importantly, Uchiha Yu’s popularity within the clan was absurdly high.

Every person they encountered greeted him warmly, while the younger children looked at him with expressions full of admiration and worship.

Even more exaggerated, several young Uchiha girls around seven to ten years old had shyly run over to hand him breakfast earlier.

Some looked at him with admiration, some with worship, and some with obvious embarrassment.

Only now did the ANBU operative finally understand why Yu had purchased such a small breakfast for himself earlier.

So he had already expected this.

Kids these days truly were outrageous.

By the time Yu leisurely finished his final bite of breakfast, the two had finally arrived at the examination grounds.

Under the strange gaze of the ANBU operative, Yu casually patted his stomach with satisfaction.

“That finally hit the spot.”

The ANBU operative’s mouth twitched slightly.

This kid had eaten such an absurd amount of food along the way, yet his stomach still looked completely flat.

How many stomachs did this monster even have?

At that moment, a sneering voice suddenly sounded nearby.

“Hey, hey, hey.

Isn’t this that Uchiha brat?

He’s also here for the Chunin Exams?”

A member of the Shimura Clan looked toward Yu mockingly.

His companion quickly nudged him.

“Shimura Ki, don’t underestimate him.

I heard he killed many shinobi on the battlefield, including several Jonin.”

Shimura Ki’s expression immediately stiffened slightly.

“That has to be fake, right?

He’s just a brat.

How could he possibly kill a Jonin?”

“It’s true.

I personally heard it from the cousin of the son of the eldest aunt of my brother-in-law’s sister-in-law.”

Soon afterward, the chief examiner for this Chunin Exam finally appeared before everyone and coldly swept his gaze across the crowd.

“Quiet.”

The noisy area instantly became silent.

Seeing that everyone had calmed down, the chief examiner nodded in satisfaction.

“All of you are very lucky.

Due to the current wartime situation, Hokage-sama has decided to simplify this examination process.”

The eyes of the gathered participants instantly lit up.

Most of them had already failed the Chunin Exams multiple times before, so hearing this immediately boosted their confidence.

The chief examiner then revealed a rather sinister smile.

“This examination will contain only a single round.”

As he spoke, he clapped his hands lightly.

Swish!

Swish!

Swish!

More than a dozen shinobi instantly appeared behind him.

Most of them were Chunin.

However, among them stood an actual Jonin.

The chief examiner grinned toward the candidates.

“Choose any opponent you want.

As long as you defeat them, you will immediately be promoted to Chunin.”

The gathered candidates immediately became excited.

“It’s that simple?!”

Many of them instantly began scanning the opponents carefully while trying to choose someone weaker.

Meanwhile, Yu merely looked bored.

Without hesitation, he became the first person to step forward.

Just as he was about to casually select someone, the Jonin among the examiners suddenly stepped forward on his own initiative.

Before Yu could speak, the chief examiner smiled and explained first.

“Uchiha Yu, your circumstances are somewhat special, so we specifically arranged this Jonin for you.”

Inside the Hokage Office, Hiruzen Sarutobi quietly sat before a crystal ball displaying the examination grounds in real time.

The moment he saw the Shimura Clan Jonin stepping forward, his brows immediately furrowed slightly.

“Wasn’t a Special Jonin supposed to be arranged instead?

Why has it suddenly become a full Jonin?”

Utatane Koharu immediately spoke as though the matter was completely reasonable.

“The reports claim he has already killed several Jonin on the battlefield, but those are only reports after all.

No one here has personally witnessed it.”

Hiruzen thought back toward yesterday’s encounter with Yu.

In the end, he remained silent and simply continued watching the crystal ball quietly.

Meanwhile, at the examination grounds, a cold smile slowly appeared on Yu’s face.

“Fine.

I don’t mind.”

The chief examiner immediately waved his hand.

“Begin!”

The moment the command was given, the Shimura Clan Jonin instantly shut his eyes tightly, clearly wary of the Sharingan’s Genjutsu abilities.

Unfortunately for him, he still underestimated Yu far too much.

Almost immediately, the Jonin sensed something wrong and hurriedly opened his eyes again.

However, what greeted him was complete darkness.

Soon afterward, the darkness suddenly disappeared.

The Jonin found himself standing alone within the deep sea, surrounded by endless terrifying darkness beneath the ocean floor.

Thud!

Back in reality, the moment the examination officially began, the Shimura Jonin suddenly clutched his chest before collapsing heavily onto the ground.

His face was pale as paper while his entire body twitched violently.

Everyone present could clearly see the expression on his face.

That was not ordinary fear.

It was pure terror.

The chief examiner stared blankly at the collapsed Jonin in complete shock.

Meanwhile, Yu merely smiled calmly while looking toward him.

“Any more challengers?”

As he spoke, his gaze casually swept toward the remaining Shimura shinobi nearby.

“If there are still more Shimura Clan Jonin around, feel free to send them over.

I think I can still continue fighting.”

Inside the Hokage Office, Hiruzen’s expression gradually became serious.

“This child’s Genjutsu has already reached the point where even Jonin cannot withstand it so easily.”

Beside him, Utatane Koharu suddenly recalled yesterday’s confrontation with Yu, and a chill unconsciously ran down her spine.

After all…

Her own strength was merely around the Jonin level as well.

If Yu had truly used that kind of Genjutsu on her yesterday…
