“I don’t understand?”

For a moment, Obito had no idea how to answer.

He could only blame it on Kiyohane’s face.Full novel: Naruto: The Uchiha Remnant of the Senju Clan — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Damn it!

So what if he was handsome?!

Obito felt a deep sense of crisis, as if the childhood friend was losing to the charming newcomer.

They had only known each other for a few days, and Rin was already this familiar with Kiyohane!

Danger!

Kiyohane ignored Obito’s hostile stare and took several shuriken from his ninja tool pouch.

Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud.

Five shuriken pierced the very center of the target almost at the same time.

Then came five kunai, which also struck the bullseye.

All ten ninja tools hit the center.

Not a single one landed outside the bullseye.

“Full marks.”

The chunin instructor wrote the score on his clipboard and looked up at Kiyohane.

Another perfect score.

This year’s students seemed especially high quality.

In the past, he had always liked telling students, “You are the worst class I have ever taught.”

Now, it seemed there was still room for debate about which class had been the worst.

But this class, with Kiyohane and Kakashi in it, might end up being the best he had ever taught.

Kiyohane gave a slight nod and returned to the line.

Obito stood where he was, staring at Kiyohane’s back as the ominous feeling in his heart grew heavier.

First there was Kakashi.

Now Kiyohane had appeared too.

Both of them had easily scored full marks.

Did that not make him look completely useless?

Obito lowered his head and looked at his own hands, shouting inwardly in frustration.

Stupid hands, work with me here!

Why do you always fail me at the critical moment?!

…

“Kurenai, what are you looking at?”

Asuma Sarutobi wore a jacket that made him look noticeably more fashionable than the other students.

With both hands in his pockets, he deliberately lowered his voice and spoke to Kurenai Yuhi beside him in what he believed was an extremely charming tone.

Kurenai withdrew her gaze and shook her head.

“They’re really amazing.”

Kurenai’s eyes moved between Kiyohane and Kakashi.

Her own result just now had been quite good.

All five shuriken had hit the target, with three of them striking the bullseye.

Her kunai accuracy was slightly worse, but her overall score was still near the top of the class.

Even so, there was still a clear gap between that and full marks.

“Besides, did you look at the schedule?

This afternoon is the class you’re good at.”

Kurenai nodded.

The afternoon lesson was genjutsu.

That was indeed her strong suit.

Her father was Shinku Yuhi.

Under his guidance, Kurenai naturally had a foundation in genjutsu far beyond most children her age.

…

That afternoon.

Tomoji Yokoyama, the chunin instructor in charge of teaching genjutsu, stepped up to the podium.

He cleared his throat and wrote one word on the blackboard:

Genjutsu.

“Today, we’ll be discussing genjutsu, one of the three core shinobi arts: ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu.”

Tomoji Yokoyama turned around to face the class.

“Genjutsu is a technique that uses chakra to interfere with an opponent’s five senses and trap them in an illusion.

Its target is not the enemy’s body, but their mind.”

He continued, “Genjutsu is usually cast through one of the five senses as a medium.

The most common type is visual genjutsu, which sends chakra into the target through their eyes.

There are also advanced genjutsu that use hearing, smell, touch, and even taste as their medium.”

“The most basic way to defend against genjutsu is to shut off the corresponding sense.

For example, when facing visual genjutsu, do not look into your opponent’s eyes.”

“And if you want to dispel a genjutsu after you’ve already been caught in it, you need to disrupt the flow of chakra inside your own body.”

At that point, Yokoyama’s tone shifted.

“However, those methods only apply to ordinary genjutsu.”

“If it’s a dojutsu-based genjutsu, the situation is completely different.”

Genma Shiranui raised his hand, still holding the white stick of a finished lollipop in his mouth.

“Sensei, are dojutsu-based genjutsu really that impossible to break?

What happens if you’re alone on the battlefield and get caught in one?”

Yokoyama looked at him, his expression turning serious.

“There is no solution.”

He shook his head.

“Once you’re caught in a dojutsu-based genjutsu, you cannot break it by yourself.

You must rely on another person’s chakra to interfere from the outside before there is even a chance of dispelling it, unless you possess the Byakugan.”

“So when facing dojutsu-based genjutsu, the only option is prevention.

Never allow your line of sight to meet the opponent’s eyes.”

As he said that, Yokoyama looked over the students in class who possessed dojutsu.

The Hyuga clan’s Byakugan and the Uchiha clan’s Sharingan were both extremely difficult to deal with.

Although the Byakugan did not have genjutsu abilities, it could see through genjutsu and help dispel it.

Tekka Uchiha noticed the teacher’s gaze and immediately puffed out his chest, his face full of pride.

Of course, he had every reason to be proud.

The Sharingan was the most representative dojutsu when it came to eye-based genjutsu. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

Obito also straightened his back, feeling proud by association.

“See, Rin?”

Obito deliberately leaned toward Rin Nohara and grinned.

“I told you I’ll be amazing once I awaken my Sharingan!”

Rin was seriously taking notes.

Hearing him, she gave a soft “Mm” without even raising her head.

Obito’s smile stiffened.

But that was fine.

Once he awakened his Sharingan in the future, Rin would definitely see him in a whole new light!

“Sensei.”

Kurenai Yuhi raised her hand.

“If a shinobi doesn’t have a kekkei genkai like the Sharingan, is it truly impossible to reach the peak of genjutsu?”

That question made Yokoyama pause.

Kurenai’s father, Shinku Yuhi, was one of Konoha’s foremost genjutsu specialists.

It was said that he could even reflect genjutsu from a fully matured three-tomoe Sharingan.

“Theoretically speaking… yes.”

Yokoyama chose his words carefully.

Kiyohane listened from the back.

This feels like asking whether someone without spiritual roots truly can’t become immortal.

He was not sure how things worked elsewhere.

But in the shinobi world, even civilian shinobi who specialized in genjutsu could not reach the strongest genjutsu in existence.

Kotoamatsukami, Tsukuyomi, Infinite Tsukuyomi—all of them came from the power of bloodline.

Hearing Yokoyama’s answer, Kurenai looked a little disappointed.

Seeing this, Yokoyama continued, “The Sharingan is only a weapon.

No matter how powerful a weapon is, it still depends on the person using it.

By the same logic, genjutsu shinobi without the Sharingan can still reach heights ordinary people can hardly imagine through deep training.

Lord Shinku Yuhi is the best proof.”

Kurenai raised her head again, some confidence returning to her eyes.

After class, Kiyohane saw a figure walking toward him from the corner of his eye.

It was Kurenai Yuhi.

“Kiyohane-kun.”

Kurenai stopped in front of him.

Her tone was hesitant, but she still spoke.

“Do you… know anything about genjutsu?”

After thinking it over, she felt that the only person in class who seemed easy to get along with was Kiyohane.

The other Uchiha were all more arrogant than the last.

Tekka and his group simply disdained interacting with anyone outside the clan.

As for Obito, Kurenai had already placed him in the bottom-of-the-class category.

Kiyohane was different.

Although he also had half Uchiha blood, he did not give off that condescending, arrogant feeling at all.

And with his connection to the Senju clan, perhaps he also had some unique insight into genjutsu.
