At this point, they still didn’t know that Fugaku’s Mangekyō Sharingan had its limits and was fundamentally different from Madara Uchiha’s Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

Of course, Fugaku wasn’t their only problem.

The battle-hungry Uchiha clan members were another massive headache.Full novel: Naruto: The Uchiha Who Split the Nine-Tails — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

If they learned that their clan head had awakened the legendary Mangekyō Sharingan…

Hiruzen Sarutobi didn’t even dare imagine what those Uchiha might do.

Fugaku still didn’t answer.

He simply stared fixedly at Hiruzen with his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Internally, however, he found himself wholeheartedly agreeing with Shinya’s assessment of these people.

They really only understood force.

Unless a blade was pressed against their necks, they would never understand just how serious the situation was.

Did they really think that because he, Fugaku Uchiha, rarely showed his fangs, these Mangekyō Sharingan were merely for decoration?

Under the oppressive gaze of those slowly rotating Mangekyō Sharingan, Hiruzen suddenly felt an enormous amount of pressure.

Fortunately, someone stepped in to save him from the situation.

Naturally, that person wasn’t Danzō Shimura.

At this point, Danzō practically wished Fugaku would kill Hiruzen on the spot.

Then all he had to do was find a way to deal with Minato Namikaze and convince him to voluntarily step down.

After that, wouldn’t Danzō naturally become the legitimate Fifth Hokage?

He could even openly brand the entire Uchiha clan as rogue ninja while conveniently taking Fugaku’s Mangekyō Sharingan for himself.

Several birds with one stone.

In Danzō’s mind, he would be the ultimate winner.

Of course, he had never bothered considering the most important question.

What if they couldn’t actually defeat the Uchiha?

As far as Danzō was concerned, there was absolutely no way the Uchiha clan could defeat the entirety of Konoha.

As long as he became Hokage, everything would naturally work itself out.

The person who rescued Hiruzen from the awkward situation was Shinya.

Seeing that Fugaku had finally lost patience and revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan, Shinya slowly rose from his seat and lightly patted the clan head on the shoulder.

“All right, Clan Head.

Calm down a little.

We came here today because we have actual business to handle.”

Shinya really was somewhat worried.

Everything he had predicted had just come true right in front of Fugaku.

If the man got pushed any further, he might actually open with Susanoo on the spot.

At that point, the chessboard would truly be flipped over.

With Shinya included, it wasn’t as though the Uchiha had no chance of winning.

But even if they ultimately emerged victorious, their losses would almost certainly be devastating.

And a Konoha reduced to ruins offered Shinya absolutely no benefit.

Inside the Uchiha clan, there was still the ticking time bomb known as Shisui.

Outside the village, there was also Obito, who had been thoroughly manipulated by Madara.

This was definitely not the right time to completely tear apart their relationship with Konoha’s leadership.

Now that Shinya had awakened his system, what he needed most was time.

Time to steadily grow stronger.

With Shinya’s hand resting on his shoulder, Fugaku finally calmed down a little.

Only heaven knew just how badly Fugaku’s composure had been shaken when everything Shinya predicted happened almost word for word.

But that only strengthened Fugaku’s belief.

Shinya had definitely awakened some kind of dōjutsu capable of seeing the future.

Leaving the situation in Shinya’s hands now couldn’t possibly be the wrong decision.

“Hmph!”

Fugaku snorted.

It was the first sound he had made since stepping into the office.

He handed control of the negotiations to Shinya, but he still didn’t deactivate his Mangekyō Sharingan.

Those intimidating eyes remained locked firmly on Hiruzen and Danzō.

If either of them made even the slightest suspicious move, Fugaku was prepared to suppress them on the spot regardless of the consequences.

Shinya’s value in Fugaku’s eyes had now risen beyond measure.

There was no way he would allow Shinya’s ocular power to be wasted on meaningless conflicts!

More importantly, Fugaku finally understood something.

Constantly compromising with the Hokage faction would never make them leave the Uchiha alone.

Only by displaying an appropriate amount of deterrence could they force these people to sit down and speak properly.

Hadn’t Hiruzen and Danzō’s eyes suddenly become much clearer the moment Fugaku revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan?

Danzō, in particular, didn’t even dare make a sound now.

He was afraid Fugaku might turn his gaze toward him.

After all, every order targeting the Uchiha had technically been issued by Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Danzō was merely the man who carried them out.

If the Uchiha wanted revenge, they should go after Hiruzen!

Now that he had taken over the negotiations, Shinya immediately produced two documents.

“The first matter concerns Clan Head Fugaku’s resignation, which he proposed today.”

“From now on, Clan Head Fugaku will focus exclusively on internal clan affairs and coordinating matters between the Uchiha and Konoha.”

“As for the position of Chief of the Konoha Police Force, I will be taking over effective immediately.”

The instant Hiruzen heard that, he rejected it almost reflexively.

“How can that possibly be allowed?

The Chief of the Konoha Police Force must be appointed by the Hokage!

How can you simply decide who gets the position on your own?”

“Hmph!”

The moment Hiruzen finished speaking, Fugaku let out another cold snort.

His intensely oppressive Mangekyō Sharingan immediately locked onto Hiruzen.

And once again, Shinya stepped in to save him.

“Clan Head, don’t get worked up.

Put the Susanoo away for now.”

“We’re still negotiating.”

“How can we start beating people up before the negotiations are even finished?”

“If word of that got out, people might think the Uchiha are an impolite clan.”

Cold sweat instantly broke out across Hiruzen’s forehead.

What exactly did Shinya Uchiha mean by that?

If the negotiations succeeded, they wouldn’t fight.

Didn’t that also mean that if the negotiations failed, Susanoo would be blooming inside the Hokage Building in a few minutes?

No matter how ridiculous Shinya’s reasoning sounded, Fugaku still crossed his arms tightly and reluctantly accepted his words.

Shinya then turned around and patted Hiruzen on the shoulder.

“Lord Third, you saw it yourself.”

“Those Mangekyō Sharingan are right there in front of you.

I wasn’t lying.”

“For Konoha’s sake, our clan head has been tolerating things all this time.”

“But today, he really can’t tolerate it anymore.”

“If I weren’t here, you might be looking up at a Susanoo towering over Konoha in a little while.”

“Scary, isn’t it?”

Hiruzen froze.

It took him several seconds to realize that he had just been threatened.

A young man who wasn’t even twenty years old had actually dared threaten him.

The sheer humiliation made Hiruzen’s face begin turning red with anger.

Unfortunately, circumstances were stronger than pride.

A pair of Mangekyō Sharingan was staring at him from only a few meters away.

Who could remain calm under that kind of pressure?

Shinya continued.

“Besides, the position of Chief of the Konoha Police Force has always been held by someone from the Uchiha clan.”

“Does it really matter which Uchiha holds the title?”

Only then did Hiruzen react.

Shinya actually had a point.

As long as the Chief of the Konoha Police Force remained an Uchiha, relations between the Uchiha clan and Konoha’s civilians would remain tense.

That was even more true after what had happened earlier, when Shinya openly arrested someone in the street.

Given this Uchiha’s arrogant and domineering personality, sooner or later the clan would probably push him forward as the scapegoat to absorb the civilians’ resentment.

The reason Hiruzen had rejected the proposal immediately wasn’t because he truly opposed Shinya becoming Police Chief.

It was because Shinya hadn’t discussed it with him at all.

He had simply announced the decision on his own.

That made Hiruzen, the Third Hokage, feel as though he had been given absolutely no face.

Couldn’t you at least bring something like this up during a jōnin assembly?

It wasn’t as if I would’ve refused.
