Gu Bin chuckled teasingly: “They wear long pants and can even tie the pant legs to use as floatation devices, keeping them afloat on the water.”
“Really? That’s possible?”
Li Yan found this particularly novel and couldn’t wait to see it with her own eyes: “Director Du, why don’t we go now? It’s the hottest time at noon, there might be people swimming in the pool.”
“But it’s almost lunchtime.”
Director Du expressed some concern: “People who were swimming should be heading back for meals by now.”
“We still have our lovely sister here.”
Li Yan winked at Lin Xiyu and was about to persuade her when Gu Bin interrupted rudely once again.
“She can’t swim!”
“Why not?”
Li Yan was so choked by his response she nearly couldn’t catch her breath.
Gu Bin stated matter-of-factly: “Didn’t we already see her swimming skills when she rescued someone? There’s no need for this additional demonstration.”
“Xiao Bin, that’s not fair of you.”
Li Yan laughed in frustration: “When we discussed the contract, it was clearly agreed that Xiyu, as a special guest of the Spring Water Family Program Group, has the obligation to cooperate with documentary filming. Besides, we applied for a ten-thousand-yuan compensation for her. If she doesn’t film, it’ll be hard to explain to the station director.”
“I’ll talk to the station director about that.”
Gu Bin stood his ground: “There are many other things she can do besides swimming, such as serving as the image ambassador for Spring City, introducing the seventy-two famous springs, along with local customs, historical culture, culinary specialties, and so on…”
“Director Du, what do you think…”
After locking eyes with him for several seconds, Li Yan reluctantly conceded and passed the difficult problem to her superior.
“Xiao Bin has a point.”
Director Du, being shrewd, had completely changed his attitude after hearing the staff member’s words: “A documentary focusing solely on the daily life of the courtyard residents is indeed too monotonous. Adding elements of customs, food, history, and culture would give it more depth, attract more outside tourists, and benefit local tourism.”
“Director Du, how about this…”
The assistant director seized the opportunity to offer a suggestion: “Let’s coordinate with the Cultural and Tourism Bureau and collaborate with them. While filming the documentary, we can also shoot a promotional video introducing local tourism features.”
“That’s a great idea, I think it’ll work.”
Director Du’s eyes lit up, giving him an appreciative look.
“Then there’s no rush to film at Wangfu Pool now.”
The assistant director was quite pleased with his quick thinking: “Let’s communicate with the Cultural and Tourism Bureau first and decide on a concrete plan later.”
“Alright, let’s do it that way.”
Director Du entrusted him with the important task: “This matter is in your hands. You’re responsible for negotiating with the Cultural and Tourism Bureau and, by the way, try to secure more advertisements…”
“Understood.”
The assistant director grinned, exchanging a knowing glance with him.
After the interview concluded, Lin Xiyu benefited by tagging along with Gu Bin and enjoying a working meal with the program group, leaving the television station happily.
“In the future, no matter what requests they make, you’re not allowed to agree privately without my consent.”
On the taxi ride home, Gu Bin didn’t forget to remind her.
“Why not?”
Lin Xiyu looked completely bewildered, muttering under her breath: “You’re not my guardian.”
Her muttering was a bit too loud, and everyone in the car could hear it clearly.
The taxi driver glanced curiously at the back seat through the rearview mirror.
“Silly girl…”
Gu Bin laughed in exasperation. “Without me watching your back, do you really think that pitiful IQ of yours wouldn’t get you sold off?”
“I have a question…”
Lin Xiyu refused to accept this, about to demand where exactly he thought she was foolish.
