Upon hearing this conversation, Zhang Momo felt something was off!

Could this madwoman Lin Yu’er be forcing the Marquis? This wasn’t the 21st century or a mental hospital – in this era, one misstep could be fatal!

While maintaining outward composure, Zhang Momo felt as frantic as ants on a hot pan inside.

“I’ve already activated my Demonic power,” declared Lin Yu’er. “My profound demonic energy has permeated your body. Speak truthfully – what do you feel now?”

“Particularly… wanting a bath.”

“A bath?”

“Yes, your hands are greasy.”

“Anything else?”

“Nothing.”

“Impossible! With my eight hundred… no, with my eight thousand eight hundred eighty-eight years of Cultivation, how could I fail to cure your minor poison? You must be lying! You’re not being good!”

“Madam…”

“Naughty children get their bottoms pricked with needles by Xiaomei and get locked in the dark room! The dark room is the most terrifying Demon Cave in the world! Full of faceless ghosts sitting with their backs to you, wailing endlessly! I’ve personally experienced it… everyone who enters gets scared so badly they wet their pants!”

Lin Yu’er delivered this in an intentionally ominous tone before suddenly raising her voice: “Now speak up!”

The man remained silent for a long while.

After a moment, a clear, mellow voice slowly responded: “The place you’re touching feels slightly… numb.”

A loud “thud” came from inside the room, as if something had fallen to the ground. Soon, the door swung open.

Chang An hurried forward. “How is my Marquis?”

Lin Yu’er, holding the bowl and chopsticks she had brought earlier, didn’t even glance at him as she hastily ran off. As she ran, the bowl fell to the ground and rolled into the nearby flower bed. She glanced back in panic, quickly retrieved the bowl from the grass, and continued running while clutching it.

Du Du and Zhang Momo followed behind with bewildered expressions.

“The Madam running so fast… could it be…” Chang An had a sinking feeling.

They had been foolish, desperately seeking any treatment, actually believing the Madam possessed Demonic power and healing abilities?!

They had completely forgotten the most important thing: The Madam has mental issues!!!

With how fast she was running, could the Marquis’s condition have worsened to the point that he… had passed?!

As this thought crossed Chang An’s mind, his hands and feet turned icy cold.

Stumbling into the room, he found the Marquis lying on the floor with the silent Chang Sui beside him.

“Marquis!!!”

Chang An’s heart sank again.

Chang Sui glanced at him: “The Marquis merely fainted.”

“Really?” Still somewhat incredulous, Chang An stepped forward to check the Marquis’s breathing before slapping his chest in relief: “Mother above, you scared me to death!!!”

“Come! Let’s move the Marquis to the bed!”

“Yes!” Chang An hurried to assist. “Is the Marquis truly alright?”

“We’ve tried every method during the Marquis’s previous episodes, even knocking him unconscious, but he’d always wake up immediately from the pain. Look now – has the Marquis woken up?”

Chang An’s face lit up with fervor: “So the Madam truly possesses Demonic power?!”

Chang Sui:…

There’s definitely no Demonic power, but could the Madam’s condition actually be contagious?

…

Upon returning to Crabapple Courtyard, Lin Yu’er immediately urged Du Du.

“Close the door, quickly close the door!”

After entering the room, Du Du finally voiced her confusion.

“Madam, why… why are we closing the door?”

Zhang Momo took the bowl and chopsticks from her hands—still carrying some soil with a few leaves fallen inside—and asked Lin Yu’er:

“Madam, just say it directly. Is the Marquis still alive?”

As the director of a mental hospital and a seasoned chief physician who had cured many mental illnesses, Zhang Momo understood Lin Yu’er well. Her tolerance for Lin Yu’er was high, and she only wanted the right to know.

“His eyes closed.”

The mere thought of He Jiulin made Lin Yu’er furious. She had kindly used her Demonic power to treat him, yet he actually hid a weapon beneath his robe—how despicable! Fortunately, she had knocked him out.

But Zhang Momo misinterpreted “his eyes closed” as him being dead and anxiously said, “Madam, we must pack our things and flee immediately!”

Just as Du Du was about to speak, Lin Yu’er violently swung the door open again.

“I! WILL! NOT! FLEE!!!”

She had a visceral reaction to the word “flee”!

Flee?

She, the heir of the Demon Realm, more valiant and fearless than pesticide, how could she possibly flee?!

The word “flee” didn’t deserve to appear in this demoness’s book.

The moment she made this decision, Lin Yu’er felt as if her stature was infinitely expanding, transforming into a majestic and heroic giant!

She glanced at the dumbstruck Zhang Momo.

See?

How fearless and heroic Lin Yu’er is!

You Magic weapons must be worshipping me to death right now?!

“What is there to fear? I’ll wait right here for him to come! If I die, that comb on the dressing table shall be left for Momma as a keepsake. As for Du Du, I have nothing to give you, so you can just reminisce directly!”

Du Du: …

She had finally witnessed Madam’s stinginess.

They waited until evening.

Zhang Momo and Du Du watched the door in fear and anticipation, but no one came chasing into Crabapple Courtyard.

The entire Marquis’ estate remained as quiet as usual.

Zhang Momo went to the kitchen to have meals delivered, while Du Du requested hot water for Madam’s bath after the meal. The servants complied promptly.

Lin Yu’er grew somewhat puzzled.

She thought this husband of hers might be quite reasonable—perhaps he had just briefly feigned death randomly. After explaining that hiding a weapon was his fault, maybe Chang An (that dog-pellet) and that so-called Chang Sui recognized their fault and didn’t come to arrest her?

But after waiting just a little longer, she forgot about the matter.

Zhang Momo and Du Du went to gather information.

Unable to sit still alone in the room, she decided to search for treasure under the table.

There, she pulled out a bowl of braised pig trotters.

“Frozen into a lump—this must have gone bad.” She poked the sauce beneath the trotters with her finger; it was springy and jiggly.

She disliked waste but didn’t want to eat spoiled food either—it would upset her stomach.

After looking around and confirming no one was watching, she picked up the bowl and sneaked into the courtyard.

She ran to a tree near the wall, rummaged for a moment, and found a palm-sized clay figure.

Calling it a clay figure was generous.

This lump of clay barely resembled a human shape: two arms dangling precariously, one shoulder higher than the other (one side lacking a shoulder entirely), hands shaped like two large balls, and legs even fused together without separation.

Eyes were two small black holes.

A nose with two tiny black pits.

A mouth—one large black cavity.

The large round ball held a tree branch in its hand, with several neatly arranged leaves stuck on its head—round, pointed, and serrated ones in red, green, and yellow.

She carefully placed the mud figure on a clean stone platform.

After placing it, it tilted left-heavy and right-light.

It toppled over.

She straightened it, and it fell again.

“Devil God Avatars are so fragile!” Lin Yu’er grabbed the mud figure, reinserted the fallen leaves onto its head, and then used her fingernail to carve a seam between its connected legs, prying them apart…

The mud was semi-soft and semi-hard, shedding many clumps of dirt.

She fiddled with it for a long while.

Finally, a distorted mud figure stood on the stone platform, legs splayed apart.

She placed the bowl of pig’s trotters in front of the mud figure on the stone platform.

“Demon God, this is my offering of pig’s trotters for you!”

“Having eaten mine, you’re now indebted—you must protect me well!”

“Make those who want to kill me get killed instead! Those who plot against me get counter-plotted! Ah… and may those who curse me choke on their own saliva, those who want to lock me up in a dark room find half a worm in their apple, struggle to finish their business in the toilet, fail to scratch their itches, sneeze with snot flowing into their mouths… I can’t think of anything else for now, I’ll tell you more next time!”

Lin Yu’er broke off three twigs from nearby, held them in her hand, “lit” them with air, blew on them, and then solemnly inserted them into the pig’s trotter jelly in the bowl.

“Madam, what are you doing?!”

Du Du stood under a wall covered with Ling Xiao flowers, looking utterly curious.
