Karn read the information on the disciple tabs and the new skill he had just received.
The first thing Karn noticed was the Myriad Dao Constitutions Body that Rei inhabited. No matter what Karn did with the interface he could not find any more information on the constitution. The information that was displayed was all he had to go off of.
Karn instead used his newly acquired skill - Master’s Appraisal on Rei.
Name: Rei
Constitution: Myriad Dao Constitution
Current Issue: Incomplete understanding of Heavenly Thief Technique
Recommended Training: Technique comprehension
Potential: Extremely High
The information that the Master’s Appraisal skill provided was quite useful especially for a teacher who needed to train his disciples.
The only issue was that the skill did not go into detail about the Constitution of Rei. Karn could infer a few details about it by Rei’s actions but he could not be sure of the extent of its abilities.
Rei had shown an unnatural level of skill by being able to comprehend the Heavenly Thief Technique despite not having the stats to back it up.
’The effects of the constitution must be acting as a crutch to use advanced techniques. She seems to not have been surprised when I used the technique the same day I read it. Someone who spends years comprehending techniques to be able to use them proficiently would not gloss over this.’ Karn thought to himself as he looked at Rei.
Karn then took a look at Shin using Master’s Appraisal.
Name: Shin
Hidden trait: Unbreakable Will
Current Issue: Lacks Foundation
Recommended Training: Body Cultivation
Potential: Unknown
Note: Will surpass limits through suffering.
The skill showed exactly what Karn had expected to see. Nothing of note was shown but also was a nice addition to confirm his suspicions of his new disciples.
Master’s Appraisal:
Allows the user to perceive the status and potential of a potential disciple providing insights on the training method to maximize said potential.
Karn had understood almost all of the features of the system by now except the skill that had given him a headache the moment he had read the description.
Soul Cleaver:
Grinds the souls of the individuals killed by the user into stat points, lifespan and technique enlightenment. The use of this skill results in the soul experiencing horrifying pain and erasure. Additionally, there is a small chance of the user getting cursed in return.
Karn had taken lives before in war. He had done it to survive which he could live with, but to torture a man after death?
Even the battlefield had never demanded such cruelty.
Karn was definitely a battle freak but that was where his craziness ended. This skill had landed in his lap but he had no interest in using it. The lives of Ban and Bin came to mind.
Although he had extinguished their lives and dreams, to torment them after death to benefit himself. This was a step too far from what his morals could allow.
’All humans have reasons for what they do and they all deserve to rest once death follows. This skill shall accumulate dust until the end of time.’ Karn thought definitively.
Lastly, Karn now had more stat points to distribute.
*Ability Chart*
Strength: 30 --> 40
Agility: 50 --> 60
Charm: 10 --> 20
Karn had increased his stats as he saw fit. His agility was his biggest strength in all of his fights so far so he had increased it considering its importance. Strength would always come in handy and Charm.. well the system had never included a useless stat before. If Charm existed, then one day he would need it, he considered it would likely be just as important as the other stats so he had invested in it.
The added stats immediately felt apparent. His body felt stronger and flexible than ever before. His body had never felt like this even in his prime 20’s.
Karn looked at Shin who was getting helped by Rei by putting on his blindfold.
"From now on you two are to address me as Master Karn to others." Karn knew he had to tell his disciples his name at some point so now was as good a point as any to inform them.
"Understood, Master." Both of them said in unison.
The world of cultivation placed special importance in the master-disciple relationship. The difference between a parent and child could not be any greater than the relation of the master with his personal disciples.
If a master took in a disciple they would be willing to do anything to care for them and discipline them if they get out of hand. Instead of martial schools many wealthy and powerful folks considered this the best way of education for their children.
"Good, Let us go then." Karn motioned them to leave Rei’s hideout together.
As Karn and his two disciples left they saw a massive number of villagers crowded around the exit along with some of the women who had been saved.
Some of them wore a face of reverence and thankfulness. Some of them expressed doubt and curiosity and finally a small number of them expressed fear at the old man who had his eyes closed.
A village elder walked up to Karn as soon as he walked out and bowed to Karn.
"This humble mortal thanks the elder for using his supreme might to save this village from the Black Fang Bandits that have plagued us for months. Elder please come with us. We would like to thank you for your kindness and generosity for destroying the bandits and saving our girls." The village elder that looked no more than 50 years old spoke.
"Me and my disciples would love nothing else than to join you." Karn agreed happily.
"Elder, is this really okay? What if he is just as cruel as the bandits? We do not know his intention clearly yet." One of the village members that seemed afraid of Karn whispered into the village elder’s ears.
"Idiot, that is why we have to celebrate the return of our women back with him. What if he takes offence that we did not invite him and destroys our village along with the people?" The village elder spoke.

The system notified Karn, Rei and Shin were led to the village center where many stands were held in unison.
Just as they reached the village center a young man came running over.
"Vi-Village Elder! hah hah hah!" The young man was completely out of breath and his face was stricken in panic.
"Take a breath and tell me what happened." The village elder spoke in a serious tone while recognizing the young man who was a gatekeeper for the village. The young man had come running over after abandoning his post which meant this was a serious affair.
"Th-The young master of the Dragon Meteor Sect has come to our village doorstep!" The young man said in a panic.
