Law finally remembered his role as ship’s doctor.

He cleaned and bandaged the wounds of Kane and the others who had fought, then checked over the freed slaves.

After all that, exhaustion set in.Full novel: One Piece: From Ghost Hand to Ghost God King — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Everyone rested where they were in the auction hall.

The hands of the clock kept turning.

The sun was about to set.

Hungry, they decided to go out and find food.

Unexpectedly, the Sunglasses Man returned — before Kane could even track him down, he had come to them first.

He brought food and medicine.

Law and the red-haired woman checked everything and found nothing wrong.

“The great hero has rid the people of evil.

I’ve brought food to express my gratitude.

And since I haven’t eaten either, why not hold a feast to celebrate?”

Interesting.

Offering goodwill proactively to avoid being on Kane’s hit list.

Quick thinking and strong execution.

Staying to share a meal — putting his own life on the table, betting that Kane wouldn’t kill him on the spot — that took guts.

Kane was intrigued.

He agreed to the feast, and later learned the Sunglasses Man’s name was Pilaf.

During the meal, Kane kept thinking.

If he killed Pilaf, would Dark Sail Island become a better place?

Obviously not.

There was no national government here, no Marine presence.

Pirates, gangsters, assassins, and all sorts of people from the Underworld lived here.

The structure was already set.

This was a true no-man’s-land.

Even if he killed Pilaf, others would rise to take his place.

Worse — Dark Sail Island was still the Shipping King’s territory.

Kill one manager, and they’d just send another.

Nothing would change.

The new one might even be worse than the current one.

Kane needed time to recover.

He wouldn’t set sail immediately.

He had time to decide Pilaf’s fate.

After eating his fill, Kane found a private room to rest.

Security wasn’t a concern.

During the feast, he’d used Observation Haki to confirm that even Shachi alone could easily handle Pilaf’s level of strength.

And there were still eighteen ghosts scattered around the hall.

Pilaf wasn’t going to cause any trouble.

Kane lay on the sofa, his thoughts racing, unable to sleep.

This was the first island he’d set foot on since forming his crew.

First, liberating slaves by crushing the traders.

Then running into the Donquixote Family and killing one of Doflamingo’s executives, Lao G.

He hadn’t expected to clash with Doflamingo’s forces so soon — he’d thought it would happen in the Grand Line or the New World.

He wondered if Doflamingo would send people back to the North Blue — or even come himself.

What happened here wouldn’t stay hidden for long.

Because of Law, Kane was always going to go after Doflamingo.

The grudge was already there.

But before, they were in the shadows.

Now it was out in the open.

Being targeted by a major pirate this early was a huge burden.

In the original timeline, Doflamingo would become a Warlord two years from now.

But that didn’t mean he was weak now.

In fact, he was already terrifyingly strong — definitely Warlord-level.

His bounty had stayed low because he focused on the Underworld, expanding his arms dealing.

Bounty numbers didn’t matter to him.

And there was his identity — a Celestial Dragon.

The Holy Land didn’t acknowledge his status, but that was an internal Celestial Dragon matter.

The Marines, however, showed extreme restraint when it came to Doflamingo.

They went out of their way to be careful, reluctant to raise his bounty — if possible, they’d have preferred not to give him a single Beri.

Personnel-wise, Fleet Admiral Sengoku had sent his adopted son Rosinante as a spy to gather evidence of Doflamingo’s crimes.

How ironic.

Marines hunting pirates was already a given — why did they need to gather evidence?

And publicly, Vice Admiral Tsuru led the capture operations — always aiming to take Doflamingo alive and throw him into Impel Down.

They didn’t want anyone accidentally killing him.

Only with Tsuru handling it could Sengoku rest easy.

Kane opened his eyes.

The more he thought, the less he could sleep.

Couldn’t he just be like Luffy — fight his way up, gather crew, breeze through the North Blue, and only ramp up the difficulty in the Grand Line?

Damn it!

Strength.

Strength.

It all came down to strength!

With enough power, would he even need to worry about the future “Shame of the Warlords”?

Now that he’d awakened Armament Haki, he’d push his training even harder.

Refine his Armament.

Use his knowledge from the anime to teach himself advanced Haki applications.

And swordsmanship — another great way to boost his strength quickly.

He’d pay more attention to it.

Cherish every life-or-death battle.

Only through combat could a blade be sharpened to its finest edge.

What else could quickly raise his power?

Devil Fruit ability!

Kane sat up abruptly, all drowsiness gone.

He opened his hands.

Two small glowing orbs — visible only to him — floated above his palms.

These were the Spirit Resonances he’d obtained from defeating ability users.

One was a reddish-pink orb — the Drunk-Drunkenness Spirit Resonance.

The other was a dark green orb — the Evil Eye Spirit Resonance.

Creating a new Ghost God would turn that power into immediate strength.

Now the question was: create two separate Ghost Gods with different abilities, or use two high-grade materials to create a single Ghost God with composite abilities? Visit novelping.com for the full chapter.

In theory, a composite-ability Ghost God was more appealing.

But Kane had never done this before.

Attempting it would be his first experiment.

Success would be ideal.

Failure would mean a huge loss.

If he had two Zoan-type abilities, he wouldn’t hesitate — failure would still be valuable experience.

But what he had was the Drunk-Drunkenness and Evil Eye abilities — both premium-tier in the original story.

Drunk-Drunkenness gave near-“Elementalization” properties plus mind-control abilities.

Evil Eye could buff allies and debuff enemies — and its precognitive ability was practically broken.

To be clear: the Evil Eye’s power was to see enemy attacks before they happened.

Goluseus had developed it so poorly he could only see a split-second ahead, making it look like basic Observation Haki.

If developed properly — extending the precognitive window — it would essentially grant the user future sight, the highest level of Observation Haki, ahead of their time.

Two little “Kanes” appeared above his head.

One was an aggressive version with fangs and bat wings.

The other was a conservative version with a halo and white feathers.

Aggressive Kane: “You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs!

Cut off a small piece of the Evil Eye Resonance as a backup, then use both Resonances to create the Ghost God.

Even if you fail, you’ll only lose the complete Drunk-Drunkenness and most of the Evil Eye.

The leftover fragment can’t create a Ghost God, but you can use it to comprehend the related ability and try to learn future sight.”

Conservative Kane: “Aggressive Kane is way too conservative!

Go all in!

Use both complete Resonances as the core for the Third Ghost God.

If you lose the Evil Eye’s future sight, so what?

Without it, can’t you still develop future sight on your own?

Coward!

Weakling!

Useless!

Pull yourself together!”

Kane: ….

What else was there to say?

Go for it!

All in!

Kane guided the two small orbs into the air, slowly bringing them together.

Calm.

Focus.

Careful.

Extra careful.

He’d only have one—

Huh?

The two orbs merged seamlessly, blending together as if they were made for each other.

“Thy body shall heed my call.

My fate shall rest upon thy blade.”

“If thou wilt answer the summon of the King of All Ghosts — follow my will, obey my law — answer me!”

“Hear my command — be born into this world!”

Kane extended his demonic hand to control the process, his mind ad-libbing whatever came to him.

A brand new life form was born.

The Third Ghost God appeared.
