I Want to Beat That Bastard to Death

16: Chapter 16: Garp: Can We Pause for a Second?

Sengoku tilted his head back, gazing up at the nine-tailed fox looking down on him, his eyes flickering slightly.Full novel: One Piece, Starting with kurama — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Aboard the auxiliary boat, Kaido and Stussy noticed the sudden appearance of the nine-tailed fox at the same time.

Though his appearance had shifted from a four-tailed dark red monster to a nine-tailed giant golden fox, they instantly recognized that this was Ron.

“Who would’ve thought this guy Ron had a trump card like this…” Stussy stood on the deck, glancing back at Kaido not far away, her tone laced with mockery.

“Hey, Kaido, when you two were sparring, if he had used this move on you, would you have held a grudge against him for the rest of your life?”

Kaido cast a dark look at Stussy.

This damn woman really knows how to rub salt into the wound.

“Hmph.” Kaido looked away, returning his gaze to the nine-tailed fox.

A complex, indescribable mix of emotions surfaced in his eyes—perhaps, deep down, a tiny bit of envy.

If I had a powerful fruit of my own, I’d look just as impressive as Ron right now.

“Hm?

Why aren’t you saying anything?” Stussy tilted her head and pressed on with a teasing smile.

“Are you just not a talkative person by nature?”

“You,” Kaido snapped back, annoyed.

“If you’re so bored, go over and help!”

“Hahahaha,” Stussy waved her hand, laughing.

“We’re already set to retreat.

Who cares about them?”

Kaido froze for a moment.

One was a senior who looked out for him, and the other was the backbone of his Apprentice Alliance.

Is this woman really that vicious—ditching them to run for her life?

“Stussy, are you trying to walk the same path as that bastard Ochoku?” Kaido held his spiked club tight, his tone dropping low.

The relaxed expression on Stussy’s face instantly froze.

She realized that if she didn’t explain herself, this idiot Kaido was going to swing his club straight at her.

“Kaido, can you use your brain for once?

Did you forget how fast Ron is?

As long as we don’t vanish from their line of sight, he can catch up in no time,” Stussy said, exasperated.

“You’d better actually mean that,” Kaido grunted coldly.

Meanwhile, transformed into the nine-tailed fox, Ron wasted no words with Sengoku.

His form shifted abruptly as several arms woven from pure chakra extended from both sides of his body.

“Lava Release.”

Ron’s voice rumbled from the fox’s massive maw.

The very next second, a molten fireball formed in the palm of every hand.

Sengoku’s gaze darkened.

Without hesitation, he leaped up and darted swiftly toward the shore.

“Go.”

Ron’s voice sounded once more.

The molten fireballs shot out simultaneously, roaring through the air with long trails of fire in hot pursuit.

SWOOSH!

SWOOSH!

SWOOSH!

The sound of the fireballs piercing the air was sharp and piercing.

Sengoku didn’t take them head-on.

His body shifted directions, twisted, and rolled mid-air, dodging all the incoming fireballs with near-flawless precision.

BOOM!!!!

Every single launched fireball crashed into the ground.

Explosions detonated one after another as small mushroom clouds rose into the sky, fire flickering through the thick smoke.

Such a massive disturbance caused Whitebeard and Garp, who were locked in intense combat, to halt their clash involuntarily.

Both turned their heads at the same time, glancing first at the source of the explosions before looking out toward the sea.

Seeing the golden nine-tailed fox standing on the water, an unmistakable look of astonishment flashed across both Whitebeard’s and Garp’s faces.

“Gurararara!!” Whitebeard suddenly burst into booming laughter.

He turned back around, fixing his eyes on Garp opposite him.

“Looks like we can have a proper fight now, Garp.”

At the same time, Whitebeard cursed inwardly: Ron, you bastard, hiding an ability like this…

You made me worry about your side the entire time.

Garp pulled his gaze away from the fox, a wide grin slowly spreading across his face.

“I remember that guy’s name was Ron…

Pretty interesting.

But before anything else, I’m going to knock you down first, Newgate!!!”

Whitebeard laughed out loud once again.

“It’s not decided who knocks down whom, you idiot Garp!”

The moment the words left his mouth, two bursts of Conqueror’s Haki detonated simultaneously.

The invisible pressure slammed together like two solid, transparent walls, the air groaning under the immense strain.

THUD!!!

The two figures collided once more in an instant.

Naginata met iron fist, and a fierce tempest exploded outward with the two of them at the center.

Just as the two were locked in a deadlock with shockwaves surging…

Suddenly, they both sensed something almost at the exact same moment.

Without hesitation, both pulled back their force and rolled away to the sides.

BOOM!!

A colossal object crashed right onto the spot where they had just been standing.

The shockwave swept away loose rocks and sand in every direction.

Whitebeard and Garp looked up toward the fallen object simultaneously.

When they clearly saw what it was, the disbelief on their faces grew even stronger.

It was an entire section of a warship’s bow, its broken keel exposed like a ribcage.

Almost at the same moment, both turned their eyes back toward the sea.

Out on the water, the nine-tailed fox was still floating over the surface, but the World Government battleship was nowhere to be seen.

Garp’s gaze snapped back to the severed bow in front of him, his pupils shrinking violently.

That really is our ship?

That bastard…

threw it over here?

This bastard really makes my teeth itch with rage.

“Hey, Newgate,” Garp’s voice had lost its earlier excitement.

“Can you hold on for a minute?

I want to go beat that bastard to death first.”

Whitebeard froze, let out a flat “Uh…”, and shot back immediately: “What kind of joke is that?

Do you think we’re playing house?”
