Who ever went out to become a pirate to keep their reputation clean?

Wasn’t every pirate someone whom people wished dead and buried as quickly as possible?

“Kid, did you dig up Roger’s ancestral graves or something?” Golden Lion asked out of curiosity.Full novel: One Piece, Starting with kurama — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Ron looked up at the man with flowing blond hair and a fierce look on his face, shook his head, and honestly explained the reason why his reputation was so bad.

Then…

many froze in place, followed by waves of loud laughter erupting across the ship.

“Kid, are you trying to kill me with laughter?”

“Tch…

and here I thought you did something truly outrageous.”

“It sounds a bit pitiful, but the whole thing really is hilarious.”

The crew members chimed in one after another, and no one thought Ron had done anything wrong.

Some even thought Ron had been too kind.

If it were them, a single bad mood would have meant the neighboring village would be buried along with it.

Others criticized Roger for being a hypocrite.

If he didn’t want him, he could just say so—was there any need to use such a lame excuse to reject someone?

They were all pirates; whose hands were truly clean?

Silver Axe stared straight at Ron for a while, then shifted his gaze to Rocks and asked, “Rocks, how strong is this kid?”

“His strength?” Rocks paused, thinking for a moment.

“He should be decent enough.

What do you think, Ron?”

Ron’s brows furrowed slightly.

A blue status screen only he could see suddenly appeared before his eyes.

Looking at his current status panel, Ron wasn’t entirely sure where he stood.

In the world of One Piece, what level did this count as?

Ever since he transmigrated, he had never fought anyone with a known name from the original story.

Those he had fought were merely mountain bandits, some nameless pirate crews, and Marines from unknown branches.

“Jihahahaha!

Silver Axe, you idiot, what the hell can you find out just by asking with your mouth?” Golden Lion mocked playfully.

Silver Axe instantly scowled.

He and Golden Lion were sworn enemies, the kind where both sides constantly looked for a chance to kill the other.

“If you have nothing to do, why don’t you just go die, Shiki?” Silver Axe cursed.

“Jihahaha, you piece of trash, you sure are vicious, wishing death on others,” Golden Lion shot back immediately.

Ron gave a faint nod…

Yeah, this feels right.

This is the ‘discipline’ of the Rocks Pirates.

“Can you two stop howling like ghosts?

Don’t scare the newcomer,” Linlin said, unable to watch any longer as she stepped in to stop them.

Golden Lion and Silver Axe turned toward Linlin almost at the same time, showing no appreciation at all as they snapped, “Mind your own business, Linlin!”

After cursing, the two turned back, grabbing each other by the collar and continuing to trade insults.

Golden Lion: “#@¥¥ (What’s your problem?!)”

Silver Axe: “!@#¥%@ (What’s YOUR problem?!)”

BOOM!

Right then, both Golden Lion and Silver Axe were kicked off the ship by a massive force.

Ron froze for a moment.

Looking closely, he realized Rocks had boarded the ship at some point and sent the two flying with a single kick.

“You two bastards, settle down for a bit!” Rocks cursed, annoyed.

Having been kicked off the ship, Golden Lion and Silver Axe weren’t angry.

They exchanged a look and threw out parting threats.

“Fine, Shiki.

Out of respect for Rocks, I won’t settle this with you today.”

“Idiot, that’s my line.”

Rocks paid no more attention to the two of them, turning instead to look at Ron.

“Everyone seems quite curious about your strength.

How about it, want to show us a couple of moves, Ron?”

“Fight who?” Ron didn’t mind.

Mainly, he also wanted to measure his current strength and see what level he could reach if he went all out.

Rocks thought it over, feeling that most people weren’t suitable—either they had no restraint and hit too hard, or they had no interest at all and thought it was a waste of time.

“Got it.” Rocks’s eyes lit up, finding the right candidate.

“Kaido, you give it a try.”

Leaning against the railing watching the show, Kaido froze and quickly refused: “Hey, Rocks, don’t throw every piece of dirty work onto me.”

Rocks smiled and leaned close to Kaido, whispering a few words into his ear.

One could see the reluctance on Kaido’s face slowly fading, and then…

he was kicked off the ship by Rocks.

Kaido climbed up from the ground angrily.

Just as he was about to complain, his giant spiked club was tossed down.

“Do a good job, Kaido,” Rocks said with a smile.

“…” Kaido wanted to say something, but held back.

Ignoring Rocks, he turned to face Ron.

“Hey, newcomer, are you ready?”

“Bring it on!” Ron immediately entered a combat stance.

At the same time, things became lively on the ship.

“Come, come, place your bets!

Two to one for Kaido to win, three to one for the newcomer to win!” John took the opportunity to get busy, intending to make a huge profit.

Unfortunately, nobody paid any attention to John.

“Who do you think will win?” Rocks appeared on the roof of the ship, sitting down next to Whitebeard.

He picked up the bottle of fine wine beside him and took a few gulps first.

“Don’t know,” Whitebeard shook his head and stood up.

He didn’t want to guess; whoever won or lost didn’t matter to him.

“Wahahahaha~” Rocks didn’t push the question.

His attention fell onto the wine bottle in his hand, feeling it looked familiar.

He looked up at Whitebeard, who was about to leave, and said, “Hey, Newgate, you bastard, you’re not drinking the bottle I hid, are you?”

“Don’t know.

Found it in the cabinet,” Whitebeard leaped off, landing onto the ship’s deck.

“You really are a bastard,” Rocks grumbled.
