The fire aboard the Going Merry had finally been extinguished.
Usopp, looking absolutely heartbroken, had started running around repairing the ship, while the culprit responsible for everything had been banished to a tiny deserted island.
Luckily, an island had appeared ahead of them, giving Luffy somewhere to stay.
Otherwise, the Going Merry might have survived battles against Marines and pirates, only to end up being burned down by its own captain.
Getting dumped on a deserted island in the middle of the night...
It brought back some unpleasant memories for Luffy.
Compared to Zoro, who had simply gone back to sleep, and Usopp, who was working overtime to repair the Going Merry, the girl was at least considerate.
Nami had even thrown him a blanket.
She'd told him not to come back until he'd solved the problem of his body generating electricity.
"How am I supposed to solve it?"
Luffy scratched his head and cheeks as he sat there blankly.
First, he had confirmed one thing.
That voice hadn't been his imagination.
Because right before his eyes floated a row of translucent words—
[Warning. Execute the assigned training immediately. Punishment continues to increase: 5,000,000 volts!]
Was this some kind of Devil Fruit ability?
Luffy crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head.
Did the Gum-Gum Fruit have an ability like this?
Yeah, right.
Shock, shock, shock!
It just kept shocking him!
If you've got the guts, shock me to death!
I'm a rubber man.
Once Luffy got stubborn about something, there was no changing his mind.
Simply put, he was unbelievably bullheaded.
If it ordered him to immediately eat a hundred meals, he'd finish them in no time just to prove he could.
But training?
Throwing a thousand punches?
Luffy scratched his butt, tilted his head, and went straight to sleep.
Sleeping was sleeping no matter where he did it.
Maybe this really was just a dream.
Until the sun rose normally the next morning.
"Luffy?! How long are you planning to sleep?! We're setting sail! If you still haven't solved your problem, we're leaving you behind!"
Nami's voice instantly jolted Luffy awake.
They're leaving?!
"Gum-Gum..."
He swung his arm out, only to realize electricity was still crackling around his body.
When he looked carefully, he finally noticed—
[Warning. Execute the assigned training immediately. Punishment continues to increase: 100,000,000 volts!]
"What?!"
What did a hundred million volts even mean?
Luffy had no idea.
He only felt a strange numbness throughout his body.
Was he eventually going to go boom and explode?
Whether his body would explode or not was unclear.
But if Luffy touched the Going Merry like this, the ship would definitely explode.
He hurriedly pulled his hand back, only to accidentally touch a little seawater.
Then he watched as fish across the entire surrounding sea rolled onto their backs, their white bellies floating toward the sky.
Fish: "Yeah, yeah, you're amazing. You're so great."
Luffy's eyes practically lit up.
Wasn't this the all-fish feast he'd always dreamed about?!
If only they could find a cook, it would be perfect.
Zoro and the others would probably be happy too!
He raised his head.
Three pairs of eyes were staring straight at him.
Apparently, he hadn't only electrocuted the fish.
The three people who were also on the sea hadn't escaped unscathed either.
Luffy started whistling to hide his embarrassment.
But right now, the most important thing was figuring out what the hell was happening.
Did he really have to train?
Did he really have to throw those punches?
Once his stubborn streak kicked in, nobody could make him budge.
You tell me to train, and I'm just supposed to train?
It was exactly like Grandpa Garp constantly catching him when he was little and telling him he was going to turn Luffy into the finest Marine soldier.
Whoever wants to be a Marine can go be one!
I'm the man who's going to become the Pirate King!
I refuse to surrender!
[Warning. The executor has still failed to carry out the plan. Changing punishment method. Entering Stage Two... Randomizing.]
What does that mean?
Grrrrrrr...
Luffy heard his stomach rumble.
...
People in this world tended to have ridiculously sturdy bodies.
Some could even fall from ten thousand meters in the sky and still have enough strength left to yell about why they hadn't died.
Unless someone was executed by beheading, riddled with bullet holes, or suffered a fatal wound straight through the chest, dying wasn't exactly easy.
So getting electrocuted a little?
Even Nami had been fine.
Usopp was currently scooping fish out of the water with a net.
Nobody wanted to eat fish every single day.
Unless there was nothing else to eat.
Nami stared thoughtfully at all the fish floating across the sea.
"If Luffy can discharge this much electricity, even Arlong's crew wouldn't be able to take it, right?" Nami muttered.
Tap.
At some point, a pair of hands had appeared over the railing.
Oh.
It was Luffy.
It was Luffy?!
Was he trying to sink the Going Merry?!
Wait.
"The electricity's gone?"
Nami looked up.
A figure came flying toward them from the distant little island.
Then she saw a hideously twisted face covered in tears.
If she saw something like that in the middle of the night, she'd definitely have nightmares.
"D-Don't come any closer!"
Tears immediately burst from Nami's eyes.
She covered her chest with both hands, trembling all over in terror.
After a burst of crashing and banging, Luffy charged straight into the cabin.
