The next morning, a light drizzle fell over the sea.
Shaq, with a huge wooden bed strapped to his back, was laboriously doing push-ups.
After a night of recovery, his strength had increased considerably.
Training empty-handed to achieve the desired effect was too slow, hence this bed-carrying training method.
“198, 199, 200!” Shaq suddenly pushed himself up, and the enormous wooden bed flew into the air.
Before it could fall, Newgate, sitting on a chair nearby, casually caught it with one hand.
The two to three hundred jin of weight felt like nothing in his large hand.
Setting the wooden bed down, a bored Newgate took a sip of wine and said to Shaq, who was wiping sweat, “Shaq, let’s go fishing.”
“Is this what you meant by ‘there will be a way,’ Pops?
This is too lame,” Shaq pouted, dissatisfied.
“Gurararara, Little Shaq, this idea isn’t lame at all.
Come on, go get the fishing rod,” Newgate stood up upon hearing this, grabbed Shaq, and walked out of the cabin.
He dropped Shaq on the deck, and Newgate went to get the fishing rod himself.
Soon after, Newgate strode over, holding a giant fishing rod as thick as a bucket and nearly ten meters long in one hand, and Murakumogiri in the other.
Shaq’s jaw dropped at the sight of the enormous fishing rod, and his eyes lit up as he exclaimed, “So big!
So thick!
What an amazing fishing rod!”
“Gurararara, of course!
This is a fishing rod that only true men can use,” Newgate laughed in response, seeing Shaq’s reaction.
“Where’s mine?
Where’s mine?
I want to fish too.” Seeing that Newgate only brought one, Shaq was displeased.
As a seasoned office worker in his previous life, fishing was one of his few hobbies; he would occasionally cast a line or two on his days off, but he wasn’t overly addicted.
“Gurararara, you don’t need a fishing rod, my dear son,” Newgate tossed the giant fishing rod onto the deck nearby, then sat cross-legged, holding Murakumogiri.
“Sigh,” Shaq sighed in disappointment upon hearing Newgate’s words.
He had wanted to show off his superb fishing skills to Pops, but being able to witness fishing with such a ten-meter rod would also be an eye-opener.
“Pops, are you going to use it to catch whales?”
“Whales?
Gurararara, I don’t care for whales.
I’m going to catch Sea Kings,” Newgate picked up the fishing rod, prepared the fishing line as thick as a baby’s arm, and then stared intently at Shaq.
At this moment, Shaq was still oblivious, excitedly looking at the fishing rod, and asked without raising his head, “Why is there no bait, Pops?”
Newgate didn’t answer, only revealing a faint grin.
Then Shaq seemed to notice Newgate’s gaze.
He looked up and saw his Pops’ expression, and as if realizing something, a bad premonition surged in his heart.
He slowly backed away, trembling, “There must be bait, right, Pops?”
“Of course, how can you fish without bait,” Newgate’s tone was calm, but he raised his large hand and reached for Shaq.
Seeing this, Shaq retreated even faster, looking at Newgate tremblingly, “I’m your dearest son, right, Pops?” Before he could finish, Shaq turned to run.
“Of course, you are certainly my dearest son,” seeing Shaq about to escape, Newgate’s thick arm suddenly shot forward and grabbed Shaq in mid-air.
Seeing himself lifted, Shaq resignedly gave up struggling.
He turned to Newgate, forcing a smile that looked like crying, and said, “Be gentle, Pops.”
“Gurararara, of course, you are my son, after all,” Newgate said, then tightly wrapped the fishing line around Shaq’s waist.
He then stood up and swung the rod out forcefully, “Go, Little Shaq!”
Shaq, serving as bait, flew into the air in a perfect arc, finally coming to a steady stop just above the sea surface.
“Start yelling, Shaq!
Attract them!” Newgate held the fishing rod with one hand and Murakumogiri in the other.
At the same time, he released his Observation Haki, firmly locking onto Shaq’s position and the surrounding sea.
Hearing this, Shaq threw caution to the wind and began shouting toward the sea.
“You damn Sea Kings, come out if you dare!”
“If you’ve got guts, come bite me!”
“You useless sea trash, are you scared?!”
After shouting for a full fifteen minutes, the sea remained calm.
Shaq, parched, stuck out his tongue and turned to shout at Newgate, “It’s no use, Pops!
Pull me ba”
Before he could finish, a massive shadow appeared beneath the water.
“It’s here, Shaq!” Newgate’s Observation Haki immediately locked onto the presence.
He pulled the rod sharply, and Shaq shot upward.
At that instant, a huge Sea King burst from the sea, its massive jaws snapping toward where Shaq had been.
Shaq’s face turned pale.
He grabbed the fishing line with both hands and climbed upward frantically, his movements so fast it looked like his body was escaping while his soul lagged behind.
“Gurararara!
Grab it!” Newgate laughed, and Murakumogiri swung out in a single motion.
A massive slash tore through the air, carrying overwhelming force as it cut across the Sea King’s neck.
Hearing Newgate’s voice, Shaq instinctively reached down and grabbed onto part of the Sea King’s head.
The slash landed cleanly.
With a thunderous impact, the Sea King’s body was severed, and the force of the attack continued forward, striking the distant sea surface and sending waves soaring sky-high.
The enormous body crashed back into the ocean, dyeing the surrounding waters red.
Shaq, still gripping tightly, refused to let go.
This was food there was no way he would drop it.
Seeing the successful catch, Newgate pulled the line back, bringing Shaq and the prize onto the deck.
“Gurararara, how about it, Little Shaq?
Not bad, right?!”
Back on the deck, Shaq’s legs trembled slightly.
He dropped the massive head, then immediately lunged at Newgate.
“You damn Pops!
You’re trying to kill your only son!”
Newgate laughed, ignoring Shaq as he clung to his leg, and walked toward the Sea King’s body.
It was a relatively small Sea King, only a few dozen meters long typical of those that swam closer to the surface.
Newgate nodded in satisfaction, then glanced at the blood spreading across the sea.
“Hold tight, Shaq.
This much blood will attract bigger ones.”
Feeling Shaq cling tighter, Newgate turned toward the stern and swung his fist.
The power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit activated.
The air cracked like glass, and a violent shockwave surged outward, striking the sea and generating massive waves and powerful currents.
Using the resulting force, the small sailboat rapidly sped away from the area.
