Yvaine remained seated for a second, but then she picked up her phone.
Her thumb moved quickly across the screen.
You are sharing your live location for an hour.
She sent a text to Dean.
Meet me at the back door!
She stood from the sofa and walked toward the table, and packed a few of the snacks.
After packing she put it inside her bag and zipped it closed.
She turned slightly towards the darkness lingering in her room, her expression was no longer gentle, “Give me one week.”
She took a pause before continuing further.
“Until then, you are not going to perform another ritual which has a direct or indirect effect on Dean… Else you know what I am capable of.”
She picked up her bag and quietly tiptoed around her mansion.
Meanwhile, Dean was staring at the text which Yvaine had sent her.
I think she is in some sort of danger!
He slowly opened his door.
The hallway was silent.
Either room’s lamp reflection had now faded into black too.
Good!
He carefully stepped outside and grabbed the car keys from the key holder.
Just as he reached the staircase, Ellie’s door opened revealing her.
She walked out rubbing her sleepy eyes, while holding her tumbler.
Dean’s eyes widened, he quickly slouched at the back of the sofa.
He leaned against the sofa as he sighed, “Damn, now she is going to end up in the kitchen for an hour.”
He crawled carefully back inside his room.
What should I do?
Her live location will end up getting shared within 45 minutes!
Dean walked toward the window and pushed it open.
A cold breeze greeted him.
He looked down from his first-floor window.
“Too much spicy adventure for me!”
He took a long breath, and carefully climbed out of his window onto the narrow outer ledge.

One hand gripped the edge of the window, while the other searched for balance.
Slowly he kept one foot and then the other.
He inched sideways with cautious steps until he reached the rainwater pipe attached to the wall.
Dean wrapped both hands around it, and then he slowly slid downward.
The metal pipe creaked softly beneath his weight.
“Please don’t get broken…” He murmured.
A moment later, when his shoes touched the ground, he let out a sigh full of relief.
A strange feeling washed over him.
Something about this sneakout felt so familiar, as if nostalgia was hitting him.
“Weird,” Dean frowned.
“This is my first time sneaking out, but why does it feel as if I have done something like this before?!”
Dean followed the live location on his phone, while carefully driving the car in the streets.
The streets had grown quieter as the city lights gave way to long rows of trees.
A few more turns later, a massive iron gate came into view.
Dean slowed the car a short distance away.
He came out of the car, beyond the gates stood an enormous mansion.
He stared at the mansion suspiciously, while grabbing his phone
“Did she get kidnapped by some mafia or goons…?”
He looked at the location pin again but it matched it perfectly.
He got back to his car, and gave an instruction to the AI assistant, “If I don’t respond you within fifteen minutes, call my emergency contact.”
Emergency protocol armed.
A fifteen-minute countdown has started.
He then came back near the estate.
He carefully circled around the outer wall, occasionally peeking through the hedges.
Then he finally spotted a smaller wooden door at the back of the mansion.
“I guess, Yvaine was talking about this!”
He quietly stepped toward it.
Just as he reached for the handle, a hand suddenly grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the shadows.
Dean’s heart nearly stopped, without thinking, he twisted his arm, ready to break free.
As soon as he turned, the soft moonlight fell on the figure beside him.
He froze as his eyes met hers.
Yvaine immediately placed a finger over her lips, “Shhh.”
Dean slowly relaxed.
Dean blinked.
Even though she was wearing a simple oversized hoodie with denim, with her hair tied into a loose ponytail, it came out perfect.
Yvaine tilted her head slightly, then looked behind at her, and then right back at Dean.
Dean realized he had been staring, he immediately looked away, “…the car is parked further down the road.”
“Let’s go to your car then,” She gently started walking through the shadows beside the stone wall.
Dean followed for a few steps, and suddenly stopped, “…Wait.” He quickly closed the distance between them and instinctively caught hold of her wrist.
Yvaine turned around, looking down at his hand before lifting her gaze to him.
He frowned, “Weren’t you kidnapped?”
Yvaine simply blinked for a second, “Kidnap?” She pointed at herself, “Me?”
Dean nodded seriously, “Yeah?!”
A small laugh escaped her lips, “No, not at all.”
Dean looked genuinely confused, “Then, why are you sneaking around this mansion?”
A smile spread across her face as she finally understood what was going through his mind.
She couldn’t stop herself from laughing.
Dean became even more confused, “Why are you laughing?”
Yvaine covered her mouth, “I see why you had that survival games expression. If it weren’t my house, why would I say, meet me at the back.”
Dean blinked, “…And here I thought of a plan on how to rescue you.”
She tried to suppress her laugh, “Thank you for coming to save me.” Then she tilted her head with a playful smile, “Don’t be so cute, else…”
“Else?”
“Else… I might end up kissing your cheek.”
Dean’s face froze, as the realization along with her playful side hit him together.
For the first time, he didn’t know where to look.
Right?
Left?
Up?
Down?
Should he look at Yvaine or just avoid seeing her?
Say something?
Yvaine was enjoying the soft panic on Dean’s face.
She couldn’t help smiling, “You gr–…You are so easy going. I don’t think I am gonna forget those expressions too soon.”
