Thors grumbled under his breath as he rubbed his eyes and sighed. He lingered there for a moment, then dropped his hands down to stare at the large waiting room once again.
The large room was filled with rows of seats lined alongside the white brick walls, which were decorated with banners displaying various medical procedures.
Aside from Thors, the only people present were Talia, Layla, and the unbeatable superhuman, Valon, who sat at a far end of the room, deliberately separated from the rest of them.
He had his head lowered and his eyes closed, his posture perfectly still as though he were meditating.
Thors would only glance at him every now and then before tilting his head uncomfortably.
’I don’t like the fact that I would have been beaten to a pulp if the teachers hadn’t arrived. Even with how much I’ve improved, I still feel very much weak.’
His heart trembled at the thought.
Talia, who had been seated close to him, watched his eyes the entire time and could tell what was going through his mind from the way his face contorted whenever his gaze landed on Valon.
’I didn’t see him fight. How was he?’ Talia wondered before finally asking aloud, "I didn’t see him fight. How was he?"
Thors turned to face her for a moment, recalling that Talia had not been present during the confrontation since she and Layla had broken off to find the teachers and put an end to the situation.
He glanced back at Valon and muttered the only word that came to mind.
"Terrifying—"
Talia paused, then nodded, biting down on her lower lip. "What’s his gain in all this, really?"
Thors went silent, having no answer to that question.
Valon did not need a reason, at least not to Thors. No, what concerned young Godfrey the most was how much larger the gap between him and the Unbeatable Superhuman truly was.
His fists balled at the thought.
Layla had finally stood up from where she had been sitting. She walked over to the two of them and nestled right next to Thors.
She sat upright and stared at Valon with indifferent eyes.
"Well, the reason I could see was why I insisted on informing the teachers and letting them be the ones to end the confrontation."
Thors and Talia turned to Layla, their brows raised.
Layla lingered for a moment before glancing at both of them.
"I was warned about this, but I did not think..." She paused for a moment and sighed.
"We can only expect the worst from this situation. After all, he defeated three of our ranks and beat two others to a pulp, and he isn’t even injured in the slightest."
Thors pondered the fact that if it had been him against those numbers, he might have struggled just to take down one.
Even with Golden Lightning, he would still lose the moment the battle began.
Suddenly, the strength he had worked for all this time felt highly insignificant.
Thors sighed.
Comparison was truly the thief of joy.
The door suddenly swung open, and from the other room walked in Sergeant Quinn, his hand resting upon the hilt of his sword, his expression grim.
He stopped as he reached the three and stared at them briefly before speaking in a low, calm voice.
"Are you all alright?"
They all nodded, Talia solemnly, while Layla turned to face the Sergeant and speak.
"Sergeant, what is the allocated punishment for our... little feud?"
She was straight to business.
Quinn had originally wanted to ease them into the matter before breaking the news to them, but seeing how eager they were to know, there was no use in softening the fall.
He cleared his throat, and his eyes trailed over to Valon.
The monster had his eyes peeled open now, staring directly back at him with a restrained bloodlust.
A bloodlust that reminded Quinn of his war days.
’Eyes like those... should not exist in a child.’
Quinn turned back to the three and raised a brow.
"Be careful how you tread with that one," he whispered to them.
Thors’ eyes met Valon’s gaze at that moment.
His spine crawled.
A cold shiver ran down his back, and every instinct within him screamed to break the connection. He immediately looked away, unable to explain why his body had reacted so violently to a mere gaze.
Quinn leaned forward toward the three.
"I am not supposed to say this, but there have only been two times a situation like this has happened in this academy."
With that, he pulled away, took another long look at them, and walked off, leaving the room.
Thors blinked a few times, completely awestruck.
What did he mean by two times?
Was there a meaning to what he had said?
’Damn, I should have really paid more attention to military code when I was younger.’
Thors facepalmed himself, drowning in self-pity.

"It’s not a code."
Layla’s words cut through his thoughts, catching his attention.
Thors straightened and stared at her, utterly perplexed.
Even Talia stared blankly at Layla and asked, "What is it then?"
Layla narrowed her eyes.
’Do these two share the same retarded brain?’
She sighed and continued.
"This situation happened twice in the past. A nobody defeated a few members of the top ten. The first time, one was wounded and another was knocked out. The second time was similar, but only wounded were accounted for."
She paused.
"Ours is far worse. Five against one. Three knocked out, two injured to the point of passing out. You should know where that leaves us when it comes to getting punished."
Thors was still lost for words. However, he could tell that anything that came next would certainly be of no good.
After a brief pause, Layla finally decided to speak.
"We might as well be standing at the point where our top ten positions will be revoked from us."
Thors’ expression grew cold.
This was way larger than an issue.
