Chapter 17—Double Decker Bus

Overpowered Apocalypse Game Master

"They are not gonna make it?" William muttered under his breath as he gripped the cycle handle tighter. ’Twenty minutes.’ He glanced once at the glowing screen in his vision.

"Store." His white eyes gleamed under the sunlight. "Hey! Deputy." He pressed the brakes of the cycle suddenly and drifted, turning it horizontal. Alissa lurched as she held onto William’s shoulder and hissed, "Idiot... You want to kill all the zombies here?" She smiled, licking her lips as she glanced at the undead, which were slowly making their way towards them.

"No, twenty minutes," William shook his head. "It’s not enough time. So let’s buy a bus." He waved his hand, opening the store. He swiftly searched for a vehicle for transport.

One window projected a two-story bus in a sharp golden colour, with a half-meter golden horn just above its headlights. It was glowing with blue lightning. It was incredible. William wanted to buy it and ram through the zombie hordes. "Tch!!" He clicked his tongue. ’I need money for later.’ He moved to the next one, shaking his head in disappointment.

It was a truck of brown colour, and an ogre’s skull was attached in the middle, just above the headlamps. It was tough and sturdy even at a glance. William nodded to himself. ’Good, I should buy this in the future.’ He fixed in his mind what he needed in the future.

"For now." His lips twitched as he scanned the seemingly ordinary orange bus in the window. It was plain, nothing special, too ordinary. It had none of the striking feeling of the golden horn bus nor the sturdiness of the ogre.

"This would do it." William grinned. "How many bucks do you have?"

"Already decided?" Alissa questioned. As whoosh! she killed a zombie, which was ten metres away. She knocked another arrow, aiming at the undead next to the fallen one. She had already gotten down from the cycle and killed three zombies when William was lost in thought.

"Yes," William nodded, "I picked the cheap one. It should be enough for now."

"Good." Alissa secured the bow to her back and waved her hand in midair, muttering, "money." Just a moment later, she tilted her head. "I’m not finding the share button." She glanced at William, who had gotten down from the cycle and was watching her.

’She’s too cute when she’s puzzled.’ William smiled, his eyes half-closed. Alissa slapped William’s shoulder, noticing him grin. "How do I give it?" She didn’t need to understand; his behaviour gave it away. "Buy notes from the store." William groaned, rubbing his aching shoulder. ’Damn, she’s strong.’

Thud! Thud! A few zombies had gotten closer, just five metres away in front and six from the back, but Alissa just clicked her hand in empty air. William curled his lips, and, unsheathing his katana, he rushed towards them. Swung! Whoosh! He took down the zombies around them in under a minute.

[ Total Apocalypse Supply Coins {₳}: 39 ]

"Found it!" Alissa’s eyes widened as currency notes materialised in her hands out of thin air. The notes were blue in colour, and a multicoloured circle with the symbol ₳ was in the middle, with the amount ten in the top left and bottom right.

"Isn’t this the same as our money?" Alissa uttered as she scrutinised the note.

"Of course, it’s currency. How else do you think I brought things?" William asked back, waving his palm.

"This is interesting." Alissa tapped the paper note and waved. "It’s just like normal material." She took a sniff. "It’s paper, no doubt." After she had inspected it fully, she handed over three of them to William.

They disappeared as soon as William held them and clicked on the bus he wanted to buy.

[ Ding! Buy Double Decker Bus {Tier 1}?

Yes or No? ]

[ Ding! 45 Apocalypse Supply Coins {₳} have been deducted! ]

[ Thank you for the purchase! ]

[ You have bought the Double Decker Bus {Tier 1}! ]

[ Total Apocalypse Supply Coins {₳}: 19 ]

Thud! An orange-coloured two-decker bus manifested in front of them. Fallen zombie bodies were turned into bloody paste under it.

"It’s too plain," Alissa mumbled, fiddling with her right ring finger. Her words were indeed true, as the bus was just ordinary, with no bright colours, nor good decorations. It had what a bus should have, nothing more.

"Let’s go." William climbed in, pulling Alissa. He checked the count. "Hmm, around 50 seats or so." He raised his head. "Should be just enough for our faction." He then tapped his legs against the deck. Thud! "It’s sturdy enough." "Then..." He grinned crazily. "What are you going to pull?" Alissa yelled as William sat in the driver’s seat. "Sit and hold on tightly."

Alissa quickly took the seat next to the driver and held onto the metal pole, clenching her fists tight. William then started the engine and pressed down hard on the accelerator.

"Wait. Do you even know how to drive a bus?" Alissa roared. She could feel the bus picking up pace quickly. "I don’t want to die."

"I know." William spat, glancing at the street. In front of him, zombies were packed together; their noise had attracted them. Almost all of the undead in the street were in one place, more than a hundred, taking slow steps forward. As for zombies from back... They were forgotten by the duo.

"Don’t tell me." Alissa glared at William. "You plan to..."
