The air in the Guild Master’s office was
still buzzing
with lingering tension from earlier. Seraphis sat comfortably on the couch, sipping her tea as if she hadn’t just shattered Theia’s expectations moments ago. The legendary assassin, still recovering,
narrowed her golden eyes
, looking over at the two figures sitting beside Seraphis.
The two girls had been
silent observers
up until now, but Theia’s curiosity was now fully locked onto them.
"Who are they?" Theia finally asked, her voice edged with
suspicion and intrigue.
Seraphis
smirked,
taking another slow sip of her tea before casually saying,
"Oh, these two? They’re my daughters."
Silence.
For a solid few seconds, Theia
just stared.
Then—
"
PFFT—!
"
Tea
sprayed out
of Theia’s mouth with such force that it almost hit Hale. She coughed violently, wiping her mouth as her usual assassin’s composure
completely crumbled.
"WHAT?!" she choked out, barely able to process what she had just heard.
Hale, on the other hand, had
already lost it.
"BAHAHAHAHA!" He roared with laughter, clutching his stomach. His chair rocked dangerously as he nearly fell backward. "Oh gods, you should’ve seen your face! This is the best thing I’ve seen all week!"
Theia shot him a deadly glare, but Hale was
too amused to care.
She turned her wide-eyed stare back to Seraphis.
"You… have daughters?"
Seraphis, utterly unbothered, simply nodded. "Yep. Adopted, but still my daughters."
She gestured to the two girls beside her.
"Say hello to
Elowen and Sylvaine.
"
Theia slowly turned her gaze toward them, her expression still somewhere between disbelief and intrigue.
The Twin Assassins
The two girls
looked nothing alike, yet they carried the same air of quiet deadliness.
Elowen, the older of the two, had
long, dark green hair
that cascaded down her back like silk, her sharp
emerald-green eyes
calm and assessing. She held herself with
perfect posture,
her movements calculated, as if she was constantly analyzing her surroundings.
Sylvaine, the younger twin, had
short, light green hair
that framed her face, her
bright green eyes
brimming with mischief. There was something almost playful in her expression, but it was the kind of playfulness that
masked something dangerous underneath.
Both were dressed in
sleek black assassin gear,
their movements unnervingly silent. And at their waists, strapped securely, were
two matching sets of twin blades.
Elowen was the first to speak. Her voice was
calm, measured.
"Greetings."
Sylvaine
grinned.
"Nice to meet you, legendary assassin lady."
Theia blinked, momentarily thrown off by the
contrast in their personalities.
Seraphis, amused by her reaction, leaned back in her seat.
"I found them in the woods one day," she explained. "Decided to take them in and teach them everything I know."
Theia’s eyes flicked to the twin blades at their waists.
Perfectly crafted weapons.
Seraphis smirked. "I even made their weapons myself."
That caught Theia’s interest immediately.
"You crafted their blades?" she asked, standing up and walking closer.
Elowen and Sylvaine exchanged a glance before smoothly
unstrapping their weapons
and holding them out.
The Blades of the Twin Assassins
Theia took Elowen’s first.
It was a
dark, emerald-hued blade,
its edges lined with faint silver runes that pulsed gently under the dim light. The weight was
perfectly balanced,
the craftsmanship so refined that Theia knew
immediately
—this was no ordinary weapon.
She handed it back and took Sylvaine’s.
This one was
lighter in color, a blade of shimmering jade
with a darker core. Unlike its twin, which carried a sense of quiet lethality, this one
hummed with restless energy,
like it was always waiting for a fight.
Theia turned to Seraphis, raising a brow.
"And what makes them special?"
Sylvaine
grinned.
"Oh, lots of things."
Elowen, as usual, was more composed. "They’re paired blades, but their abilities shift depending on the wielder.
Verdant Fang
grows stronger in the shadows, while
Jade Bite
thrives in open combat."
Theia gave an approving nod. "I see…"
She returned the blades to their owners, watching as the twins expertly
strapped them back in place.
"You trained them well," she admitted.
Seraphis sipped her tea again. "Naturally."
Theia smirked. "And they’re already this strong at their age?"
"Of course."
Theia crossed her arms, her golden eyes studying the two girls carefully.
"How old are you?" she asked.
Elowen answered first. "Sixteen."
Sylvaine chimed in. "But we’ve been training with Mother since we were twelve."
Theia’s smirk widened. "Mother, huh?"
Sylvaine grinned. "Yep. Best assassin mother ever."
Seraphis
rolled her eyes
but didn’t deny it.
The Guild Master’s Amusement
Hale, who had been silently listening, finally let out a chuckle.
"Well, Seraphis," he said, "I have to admit, I didn’t think you’d be the motherly type."
Seraphis shrugged. "Neither did I."
Theia, still watching the twins with curiosity,
leaned against the desk.
"So, what now?" she asked.
Seraphis set her empty teacup down and stretched. "Now? Now we see how well they’ve learned."
Elowen and Sylvaine
grinned in unison.
Theia smirked.
"Sounds like fun."
