After listening to Sang Chu describe the Monster Mutation World and the Otherworld Train, Lin Muxue felt as if the world had become filled with magic. If Sang Chu had not shown her all the supplies, she truly wouldn’t have dared believe it.
Tu You crouched on Sang Chu’s shoulder, curious:
【Why didn’t you tell her you got on that train by accident?】
Sang Chu glanced at her childhood friend, who was devouring food like a starving wolf, and answered calmly:
【I don’t want to test people’s humanity. Instead of telling them the train came because a dead body must fill the empty seat, I’d rather say I don’t know why I boarded it. Either way, I’ll share my resources with her, so it makes no difference.】
Tu You didn’t understand her concerns, but since she said so, he didn’t argue.
“Eat slowly, there’s plenty. No one is fighting you for it.” She passed Lin Muxue a handkerchief.
“It’s because I’ve been starving forever! Zhao Feng, that dog, only gave us trash. I haven’t eaten properly in so long!” Muxue chomped on a tomato. “Let me tell you, that Zhao Feng is abnormal. Remember the gun you told me to hide? I turned him into a sieve, and he still jumped up alive!”
She took another big bite. “This is delicious! I haven’t tasted fresh food in ages! Do you know how terrified I was when I saw him alive while we were escaping with Lu Minfeng? That man is horrifying. Dead and resurrected!”
“Resurrected?”
“Right! He came back from the dead, and it looked like nothing affected him. His ability even seemed stronger!”
Sang Chu’s expression darkened. She thought about her own awakened power. If she could awaken again, others might too—Zhao Feng clearly had a terrifying secondary awakening.
Fortunately, when the flame gun failed to hurt him, she chose to leave immediately instead of confronting him.
“Don’t dwell on it. We got away. It’s not the time to fight him. Do you want some meat? I’ll roast a bit for you.”
“You have meat?!”
Muxue’s dusty eyes lit up instantly like a lively fawn.
Sang Chu chuckled. “Yes. I bought quite a lot. Go check on Lu Minfeng. I’ll roast it. If he can walk, bring him to the dining area.”
Despite the hovercar’s small exterior, its interior space was enormous.
Sang Chu went to the kitchen, took out the poultry and fish, condensed a sharp blade, and began preparing the meat. When she finished, she attached an old-style reservoir to the hovercar’s purifier and let water flow.
When Muxue and Lu Minfeng arrived, their jaws almost dropped.
On the way there, Muxue had explained everything. Even though they accepted the unbelievable situation, seeing clean water flowing like before the apocalypse still shocked them.
“San! This water is drinkable, right? It has to be!”
Neither of them possessed a water-based ability. Drinking clean water was a luxury. Zhao Feng always had guards watch them during supply collection. They only ever managed to steal small amounts.
But now, there was food and water.
Life suddenly felt blessed.
Muxue eagerly leaned in to drink directly from the spout, but Sang Chu stopped her.
“This old reservoir is a bit dirty. Wait.”
She washed her hands, switched to a new-energy water tank, and poured her a clean cup.
“Drink this.”
Muxue downed it in one go.
Then Sang Chu handed each of them a spatial band. “These spatial bands can change appearance. I labeled everything inside. The new-energy tanks store clean water, and if connected to the purifier, you can drink directly. There are smart-brains too. Similar to phones—very easy to use. Try them.”
She helped Muxue put one on. Lu Minfeng copied her motions calmly.
Muxue sparkled. “San San, you basically traveled to an interstellar world!”
“Maybe. I only stayed for a month, hunting monsters every day for money. I bought these.”
Lu Minfeng looked through his storage. “Thank you.”
“You kept Muxue alive. I should thank you.”
Muxue wrapped her arm around Sang Chu. “Look at my amazing sponsor! I’m following you forever!”
“Sure. You protected me before. Now it’s my turn.”
Muxue dramatically kissed her cheek. “As expected of my sponsor! I can finally live a carefree, well-fed life again!”
She collapsed into a seat, popping grapes into her mouth. “Hurry! Your lady is starving. Meat!”
Lu Minfeng laughed. “I’ll cook. This is similar to a stove, right?”
“Pretty similar. I’ll prep the meat, you grill it. Muxue is basically a decorative corpse right now.”
Muxue threw a grape at her. “How dare you call me a corpse? Have you ever seen such a radiant, gorgeous, irresistible corpse?”
Lu Minfeng was used to their chaos. Sang Chu handed him the prepared meat. He turned on the heat device and used a stone-like cookware.
Muxue leaned over curiously. “What’s that? Why does it look like a rock?”
“A high heat-resistant mineral. There’s no steel in that world—everything is made from light or mineral structures.”
“Strange, but if it works, it works.”
Then her stomach growled loudly.
Lu Minfeng handed her a freshly cooked piece of meat. “Eat a little now.”
She bit down instantly. “So good! So tender!”
She grabbed a piece and shoved it into Sang Chu’s mouth. “See?! Delicious!”
“Healing monster meat is usually tender. Eat more. I’ll get more ready. Lu Minfeng, eat something too.”
“Okay.”
