Grandma Lin had finally recovered from the shock. Holding Lin Muxue’s hand tightly, she said,

“Ah Chu, don’t blame your brother. It’s all because of this old woman. If not for me, he wouldn’t have had to stay here.”

“Grandma, I’m not blaming my brother. Being able to see him again is already more than I hoped for.”

Someone she thought she would never see again—yet they were reunited. That alone was enough.

When Sang Chu placed the healing pod on Sang Jingwen, he didn’t ask any questions.

Suddenly, an angry pounding on the door erupted outside.

“Sang Jingwen, get out here!”

“Sang Jingwen!”

Sang Jingwen quickly pulled Sang Chu behind him and said quietly,

“When you get a chance, leave immediately.”

Lu Minfeng asked, “Who’s outside?”

Sang Jingwen glanced at the man who had come with his sister. After a moment of assessing him, he answered,

“It’s Sun Hou.”

The moment Lin Muxue heard the name, she exploded,

“Wen-ge! Is that the same Sun Hou who used to bully others in middle school, the one you beat up?!”

Sang Jingwen nodded. Sang Chu then asked,

“He’s the one making trouble for you? What level is his ability?”

“Second-level wind ability,” Sang Jingwen replied.

Lu Minfeng closed his eyes briefly to sense the situation.

“There are five outside—one second-level, one first-level, the rest are ordinary people. The second-level one should be Sun Hou.”

Sang Jingwen was surprised.

“You’re a second-level ability user too?”

Lin Muxue raised her hand proudly,

“Wen-ge, Ah Chu is also second-level! And me too!”

She looked quite pleased with herself. Sang Jingwen, though wounded by the reminder that he was still just an ordinary human, still smiled at his sister with sincere pride.

“Sang Sang is amazing. You’re stronger than your brother now.”

He gently stroked Sang Chu’s head. Meanwhile, the pounding on the door grew even more violent, as if they meant to break it down.

Sang Chu glanced toward the door, then took a freezing gun out of her dimensional bracelet.

“Brother, this is a freezing gun. It can instantly turn a person into ice. I’ll explain where it came from later. For now, we’re going to get justice.”

She had been forced to swallow her anger back at Zhao Feng’s base. She would not let this opportunity slip by.

Lu Minfeng turned to Lin Muxue.

“Xiao Xue, take Grandma into the hovercar first. Leave this to us.”

Hovercar?

Sang Jingwen stared, stunned. Lin Muxue didn’t explain. She just nodded, tapped several times on her wrist device, and disappeared with Grandma Lin.

Sang Jingwen stammered, “T-this…”

Sang Chu reassured him briefly,

“I’ll explain everything later, brother.”

Sun Hou continued shouting from outside,

“Sang Jingwen, open the damn door! What are you hiding for?! Acting all tough before, and now you’re scared?!”

“That’s right! The base leader has issued new regulations. You don’t have immunity anymore. Get out here!”

Lu Minfeng glanced to confirm readiness. When both siblings nodded, he turned invisible and moved aside. Sang Jingwen opened the door.

Sun Hou stormed in immediately.

“Took you long enough. Oh? Isn’t this Sang Chu? So you smuggled people into the base, huh? That’s a violation. Not even Xiao Yifei can protect you this time!”

Sang Jingwen glared coldly.

“You damned monkey. You only dare act tough when Ah Yi is out on a mission. When he’s here, you never make a sound!”

One of the others said impatiently,

“Monkey-ge, no need to talk so much. The boss said to dispose of him.”

Dispose?

Sang Jingwen frowned. He knew Xiao Yifei and the base leader had conflicts, but why would the leader want him dead? He was just an ordinary survivor. How could he threaten anyone?

Sun Hou sneered,

“Exactly. He’s trash anyway. Do it.”

He stepped forward, but before he could move another inch—

Lu Minfeng sent him flying with one kick, then shut the door.

Bang!

Sang Jingwen fired without hesitation. In seconds, Sun Hou was frozen into a block of ice.

“Monkey-ge?!”

Sang Chu’s lips curved coldly.

“Monkey-ge? Does he deserve such respect?”

She flicked her wrist, releasing razor-sharp wind blades. The remaining ability user hastily conjured a wall of earth.

Sang Chu whispered,

“Thorned Earth.”

Thorns burst from the wall, stabbing straight through him before he could escape.

Meanwhile, Lu Minfeng knocked out the remaining ordinary survivors.

“What do we do with them?”

In this world, leaving enemies alive was the same as leaving danger behind—but he did not push the idea.

Sang Jingwen answered the unspoken question himself. He raised the freezing gun and turned them all into ice.

“Sang Sang, I can’t keep these people here. If someone discovers this, I’ll have no way to survive.”

Sang Chu asked,

“Brother, are you waiting for the Xiao Yifei Sun Hou mentioned?”

“Yes. He’s a third-level fire ability user and my university classmate. He came with me to Haishi for vacation, but the apocalypse trapped us here. He’s been searching for news of you all this time.

“We knew you were stuck in Zhao Feng’s base, but Zhao Feng is a cunning, despicable man. Since he and Ah Yi are nearly matched in strength, we couldn’t rescue you. Ah Yi said he sent supplies to you several times. Did you receive them?”

Sang Chu shook her head.

“We can talk about this later. Brother, let’s deal with the bodies first.”

Sang Jingwen nodded and helped load the frozen corpses into the hovercar.

He was completely stunned.

Grandma Lin, too, could barely believe her eyes.

“Wen-wa… this… This must be a dream, right?!”

She blinked repeatedly. Sang Jingwen swallowed hard and bit his own arm.

Hiss—

“…Not a dream!”

Grandma Lin gasped.

“Heavens… Sang Sang, how did you…?”

Lin Muxue came over cheerfully with freshly washed fruit and stuffed grapes into both Grandma Lin and Sang Jingwen’s mouths.

“Grandma, Wen-ge, Sang Sang earned all this! Eat! These grapes are so sweet. We never have to eat disgusting rotten things again!”

Hearing that, tears rolled down Grandma Lin’s weathered cheeks.

“As long as you’re all living well. I always feared you were suffering out there. If Grandma weren’t so old, I would’ve gone searching for you with Ah Yi and Ah Wen.”

Mu Xue hugged her gently.

“We’re back now, Grandma. From now on, everything will get better.”

“Yes, yes! You children are all capable. You surely will!”

Sang Jingwen watched as Sang Chu paused her work and took out an optical-brain device, fitting it onto his wrist.

“Brother, this is an optical brain. I accidentally boarded a temporal train and ended up in another world. I brought back these devices, space bracelets, food, and water. We were able to return thanks to the hovercar.”

Sang Jingwen pulled her tightly into his arms, voice trembling,

“…I’m sorry.”
