Boom—
A huge tree collapsed in an instant!
Sang Chu looked at her hands, excited yet a little disappointed.
Tu You said, “It’s wind-type! A combat-type ability. You’re mastering it so quickly!”
Sang Chu replied, “Even though I didn’t have powers in the apocalypse, I studied them constantly.”
She had tried many ways but never awakened anything. She never expected that Zhao Feng’s attempt to kill her would accidentally trigger her awakening of wind ability.
“Croak—croak—croak—”
A chorus of frog cries came from somewhere nearby. Tu You excitedly operated the light-brain on Sang Chu’s wrist.
“Sang Chu, look, that’s a Level 1 Mutated Frog! Its light-resistance defense is maxed out, and the bounty on it is a full one million!”
One million?
Sang Chu hurriedly put away the hovercar, shifted her power to her legs, and shot out like a raging storm.
The speed exceeded the limit.
Tu You was shaken around so badly it almost fell apart, both paws clutching her clothes tightly.
“I’m gonna vomit, I’m gonna vomit—Sang Chu, you idiot, slow down!”
Sang Chu’s face was pale. “It’s my first time using this too!!!”
She couldn’t control it!
With a loud crash, she slammed straight into a massive tree and was forced to a stop.
She fell in an awkward sprawl and rubbed her sore backside with an ugly expression. “I really was too impulsive.”
Tu You: “Hehe.”
Practical experience was really different from theory!
Croak, croak, croak—
The frog was nearby!
Ignoring the pain in her rear, Sang Chu jumped up immediately.
“Behind you!” Tu You cried.
The huge frog actually knew how to ambush!
It croaked from the front but had already circled behind her with its massive, agile body. A giant frog leg swung toward her.
Sang Chu leaped into the air, quickly dodging.
She condensed a wind blade and flung it at the frog.
“Bang—”
The wind blade bounced right off its skin!
And it flew straight back at her!
Sang Chu slid one foot back, dodged her own attack, and retracted it midair.
“This frog isn’t afraid of wind blades?”
Tu You said, “Wind counts as light-type too. Try physical attacks?”
“Alright.”
Sang Chu enhanced her legs with her ability and sprinted into a bamboo forest.
But the frog jumped—faster than her power-boosted speed!
This skyscraper-sized frog was absurdly agile!
Sang Chu, using her ability, jumped onto the tip of a bamboo stalk. When the frog caught up, she shifted her weight, bending the bamboo downwards.
Using the stored force, she shot upward and landed on the frog’s back.
CROAAAK—
The frog roared in rage, its body thrashing wildly. Sang Chu held firm. She sharpened a bamboo shaft with her wind blade and stabbed it down into the top of its head.
It worked!
For that split second she relaxed, the frog—driven mad by pain—flung her off. Its giant foot came crashing down at her.
Sang Chu rolled away. Her hand flicked, slicing through bamboo with a wind blade. She grabbed the fallen stalk and stabbed it straight into the frog’s foot.
Nailing it firmly to the ground.
Croak… croak…
Its cries weakened.
Drip, drip—
The sound of falling blood reached her ears. Sang Chu suddenly noticed how unusually sharp her hearing had become.
She looked up and saw the bamboo she’d stabbed into its neck was dripping with blood.
Pressing the advantage, she cut down several more bamboo stalks and threw them like spears into its body.
The frog, immune to light and wind, finally collapsed with a heavy thud.
Tu You exclaimed, “Wow! We’re rich! Sang Chu, you can hunt a bunch more mutated frogs like this, and you’ll earn enough to buy me in no time!”
After all that fighting, Sang Chu was too exhausted to move and sat down on the spot.
She opened her storage box and put the giant frog inside.
“How much do I need to buy you?”
“Converted to the currency of the Mutated Realm… about ten million! Sang Chu, hurry up and earn money, okay!”
“I don’t get it. If I don’t buy you, I’m the one who dies. Why are you the one panicking?”
“Of course I’m panicking! Someone needed me, so I was born from the Chaos Space. If no one pays for me for too long, I’ll get sent back. It’s pitch-black there—pitch-black! I don’t want to go back!”
Black?
That made Sang Chu think of the apocalypse. She didn’t want to go back either. She hated that life.
But with Mu Xue still alive and her brother’s fate unknown, she couldn’t abandon them.
Before the apocalypse, her brother always protected her.
After it began, she had no powers and survived only because Mu Xue awakened space ability. They struggled desperately.
If not for Lu Minfeng’s help, the two girls would’ve died long ago.
She resonated with Tu You’s words. “As long as you don’t trick me, we can work together and win together.”
Tu You stared at her in confusion. “We’re on the same side. Why would I trick you? If I harm you, I’m harming myself!”
“…Right.”
She would trust it for now.
Sang Chu casually took out a bottle of water, drank a few mouthfuls, and lay flat on the ground.
“Tu You, I think I might not only have wind ability. It feels like I have others, but I can’t use them. Do you know why?”
“That is strange…”
Tu You didn’t know either. Its mind was packed with knowledge from various worlds—implanted at birth—but it still knew nothing about this.
“Maybe your body hasn’t fully recovered yet?” it suggested.
“I don’t know. It’s a weird feeling, like something is blocked by a wall.”
Tu You thought a moment. “Then why don’t you try draining your energy completely?”
“Drain it?” Sang Chu frowned. “Maybe. I remember the fastest way to level up an ability is through intense use. Every time you exhaust it, the restored energy becomes purer and stronger.”
Tu You grew excited. “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!”
“Alright!”
Despite her fatigue, Sang Chu forced herself up. Just as she was about to leave, she said:
“Wait. Let me set a trap here first. In case my combat power drops or I run out of energy, I can retreat here.”
“Yes, yes! Safety first!”
Sang Chu used the laser gun to dig a massive pit, then cut bamboo and placed the sharpened ends upward inside it.
After covering it with bamboo leaves, she finally left to look for prey.
Tu You raised its tiny paws and shouted excitedly, “Let’s go!”
“Mm.”
The girl and the rabbit walked boldly through the wilderness.
Along the way, they only encountered some Level 5 low-tier mutated creatures—bees, mosquitoes, flies, and even mutated goldfish—but not a single mutated frog.
Tu You, who’d been excited earlier thinking they’d find a dozen more frogs and secure its bond with Sang Chu—avoiding being sent back to the Chaos Space—fell into despair.
Just useless little pests everywhere!
Tu You whined, “A-Chu, why haven’t we found a mutated frog yet!”
“Don’t rush. It’s only the first day. Tomorrow we’ll go farther out. We’ll find one.”
“Fine…”
Completely discouraged, Tu You lay limp on Sang Chu’s shoulder.
